GIGABYTE Unveils its First SuperSpeed IPS Gaming Monitor FI25F

GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co. Ltd, a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, today has announced their first SuperSpeed tactical gaming monitor, AORUS FI25F. It uses GIGABYTE SuperSpeed IPS technology to achieve a 0.4 ms (MPRT) response time with a 240 Hz refresh rate, allowing gamers to acquire sharp picture quality with high refresh rates at the same time. Before long, the pursuit of speed limits at the TN panel but the lack of image quality had been criticized for some time. With the presence of SuperSpeed IPS, gamers can finally enjoy the speed while having detailed image quality. A screen size of 24.5 inches with fast response time and refresh rate, the AORUS FI25F is ideal for FPS gamers to upgrade their monitors.

Besides having a fast response time, the AORUS FI25F has a decent color performance of native 8-bit panels with 100% sRGB standards, so the monitor can provide users astonishingly beautiful pictures. Moreover, the monitor has passed VESA certified DisplayHDR 400 standards which gives gamers spectacular display quality. With AMD Radeon FreeSync technology, the monitor can provide the most fluent gaming experience that allows you to enjoy gaming without picture stripping.
The AORUS FI25F shares a symbolic AORUS series monitor appearance and a fully-functional stand that allows gamers to adjust it to any angle they desire. The built-in power board design gives gamers a great deal of flexibility that makes it easier to carry around and maintain a tidy desk. On the back of the monitor is digital RGB LED lighting which can be customized with glamorous lighting effects through the GIGABYTE RGB fusion software and synced with other RGB LED lighting PC components. Moreover, the well-loved OSD SideKick software allows gamers to directly adjust monitor settings using the keyboard and mouse. The new function Auto-Update provides gamers the easiest way to update both firmware and software to enjoy the finest gaming experience effortlessly. On top of that, gamers can also set their most desired FPS game features such as Aim stabilizer, Black Equalizer, and customized crosshairs or exclusive Active Noise Cancelling with a hotkey in the software. When other gamers are searching for the feature in the OSD menu, only AORUS gamers can quickly switch the feature on and off!

You guys are a tech review website. It's time you stop taking companies at their word for their stated response time values and start using some actually meaningful numbers. Have you seen what companies do in order to be able to legally say 'X response time' without getting sued? They overdrive the display by running high voltage through it, producing inverse ghosting effects that make the setting unusable by anyone, and even then they achieve their stated numbers in only a very specific case of 1 certain color to another certain color transition, whichever manages to produce the quickest transition. Enough is enough.

There are websites on the internet who actually test monitors once they are released. Do what they do, or quote their numbers. Stop quoting advertised values, they are meaningless to the consumer.

I disagree. As long as its clearly marked as a press release from the company I dont have a problem. TPU do test a lot of components but they cant test them all. Sometimes the press releases come out before the product is available, like the Nvidia 3000 series graphics cards.

I like to know what products companies are releasing in advance. Most of us know to check out reviews before making purchase decisions.

This is News, not reviews. They are simply stating what the manufacturer is. When it comes time to the reviews, then that is a different story. Not like @btarunr can test out this monitor right then and there to make sure the manufacturer isn't lying. That comes with the review aspect of it.

A company saying "0.4 ms response" is about as meaningless as a company saying "1 ms response" (which is the stated number on the vast majority of TN panels released in the last ~15 years, and IPS panels released in recent years). All those panels are not the same as some are leaps and bounds ahead of others. Essentially, the quoted manufacturer number is a worthless metric for the consumer. Does this new monitor have an actual, usable, faster response time that beats every monitor with a 1 ms response time? How about the new TN panels with 0.5 ms response time, does this new IPS monitor have a better response time than those panels because 0.4 ms < 0.5 ms? It certainly does not.

Companies get away with fooling consumers because the reviewers and tech sites haven't pushed back against them. Demand actual response curves, input lag, and overshoot numbers. Otherwise you may as well write 'lightning fast' on a product if the company mentions that in its product description.

Terrible back plate design, it should not scream gaming.
I love IPS monitors, but for an office environment, the back plate it should be more humble.

Yes & for times like these people buying these products should know or get knowledgeable (enough) before making their purchase decisions. It's your money so no excuse for you to being ignorant! Lastly most if not all of these press releases are legally prepped, otherwise companies wouldn't be making such claims. While your concern is noted, technically they're not lying.

This is neither. News are facts reported by an independent, unbiased source. Reviews are the product put to the test by an independent, unbiased source. A Press Release is nothing more than corporate marketing bullshit and should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

A company who claims something, should be tested to the limit on that claim. :)

I agree with the person who stated that the companies who actually test those response times should be quoted. They have the expertise and experience that TPU may never have, and experts should be put in a spotlight for their... uhm... expertise.

No, this is news in form of companies press release. You are wanting more to something there isn't and won't be till there is a review of said product. Unless you expect Techpowerup employees to put their own comment to the press release with "alleged".

Companies get away with it because consumers still make uniformed purchasing decisions and take marketing at face value. Until the majority of consumers start doing their research and being skeptical about claimed figures, manufacturers will continue to use BS marketing that makes their product appeal to the consumer with no facts to back it up.
I agree that third party reviewers need to continue to push back against the BS marketing - I love watching GN combat the bullshit:

They are lagging behind a bit, for the other well known brands are soon coming out with their 360hz variants.
It ought to be seen in the cost, for if they want to pull it off again with something overpriced, it would really hurt their image.

I didn't like their pricings so far.

Most products bullshit on specs in one way or another. If TPU only showed products with true specs, there would be no news.

One of the reasons I read this website is to keep up with new products.

I dont have a problem with press releases as long as its clearly marked.

Most people know to take manufacturer specs with a grain of salt, and to look up reviews before making a purchase.

I mean, if it's in a press release, yeah, they would. Nearly every site has this policy. It's not unusual. Techpowerup is not about to take a companies ad and butcher it just because.
LemmingOverlordNews are facts reported by an independent, unbiased source.
And we are unbiasedly relaying you this companies press release.

So by definition you are not relaying News, because the facts are unchecked. Sorry, man. That's not enough. I wasn't even "attacking" TPU, I respect the site. I meant that putting in a press release is neither news nor reviews. But do not claim that Press Releases that are copy pasted by news sites are in fact "news". Also, TPU is not the author, so it would not be able to assert any form of copyright.

Which is why it's marked as a press-release rather than news. The forum doesn't display this for some reason, but the main site does.
LemmingOverlordThat's not enough.
I'd distinguish the categories better, but technically it is enough to meet good Journalism requirements.

No, but the company would. That's how newswires work. PR get pushed to them too, but it gets sorted seperately, and is generally unedited not just because it's easier, but because the company can and will take objection to edits.
