The launch of the AMD RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT was plagued with a lack of availability and inflated prices. Retailers sold out of reference models almost immediately leading to price gouging and the launch of custom boards a week later did little to ease the situation. AMD has acknowledged the situation and is working with AIBs to achieve MSRP prices. In an unofficial comment to Hardware Unboxed, an AMD representative confirmed that they hoped to reach MSRP prices within 4 to 8 weeks for custom cards. The cards are currently selling for 100+ USD higher than their suggested retail prices at retailers across the globe so this news from AMD will be welcome for many.

AMD anti scalper tactic is that they do it themselves
On a personal note, I'm just waiting till things are considered 'normal' (whatever that is...) and I'm not going to be paying over the odds for any hardware I'm buying.. Not a chance!! :)
Those prices are around 750usd before VAT
The situation here is AIBs expecting people to pay more for the RX6800XT, which is slightly slower than 3080 ? do you go for the ugly girl when you could hook up with a prettier one  (well even when you are dreaming)
So you would screw the ugly one in your dream just because she might has nice personalities eh
In Germany 3070's cost about 700 Euro (more than what AMD charges for 6800XT on their site), 3080 about 1000-1050, 3090 go for 1750+.
All quite in line with how "MSRP" worked with 2080Ti.
Also, this year has been a perfect storm of product release from AMD and hardware utilizing AMD chips, so TSMC can only supply as much as was contracted and all that supply that was contracted has to be divided up between consoles (two major releases), GPUs (6000 series) and CPUs (5000 series). So many hot new products and not enough supply for all that new stuff.
nVidia on the other hand just screwed you by having supply but selling a healthy amount of it to miners. How much hot new hardware did they release? They released the 30 series of GPUs. See above for comparison and see who loves gamers more.
I'm excited to buy new gear, but I can wait and let the I-can't-wait-must-have-now people buy the scalper priced hardware and when prices finally drop to reasonable levels then I can upgrade.
I see what you are saying, and I agree that in a perfect world AMD could have done better by saying that they won't have enough stock to meet demand but they are working on getting what they have onto store shelves. However, as I have gotten older and learned more about business and marketing and the slew of dynamics involved, the kind of response that you are looking for would probably be more likely heard from a smaller company than a larger, global company due to investors and other such groups that AMD has to deal with besides us gamers.
Just saw this on Marketwatch: AMD stock rallies to record close after CEO sounds positive notes on 2021 and PC market - MarketWatch
Lisa Su seems to think that demand is going to be strong throughout 2021 due to: “And so you know the idea that a household, you could do one PC per household, perhaps if you’re only using it an hour a day, it makes sense,” she continued. “But now it’s really about one PC per person.”
If RTG don't have RX6000 stock, just say so, or at least shut up about it. At least Nvidia acknowledged their lack of inventory, meanwhile RTG was assuring everyone there will be plenty of stock  . Oh and when RX6000 stock come, the price will be off putting to many.
I'm not exactly gonna buy a RX6000 card but I hoped that its availabilty will drive down the GPU market prices :banghead:,gonna be a long time before that happen...
The stock situation is problem not only for AMD cards but also NVIDIA here in Germany. RTX 3080 is sold out everywhere as well as 6800XT.
I called Mindfactory after the launch of 6800XT to ask them when they will have any cards back in stock.
I ordered 6800XT on their website on 18.11 but did not get one as they were sold out while I was still paying with PayPal for the one I placed in my basket.
The guy from hotline told me that they face exactly same situation with 6800XT as RTX 3080. He said since the launch they received very low quantities of RTX 3080 as also 6800XT.
For 6800XT he said on launch day they had only handful of cards which were sold out within minutes.
He told me that he does not expect the situation to improve for both NVIDIA and AMD until 1 to 2 moths into 2021.
By the way same issue for Ryzen 5800x. Since launch it is sold out everywhere. Now and then a few appears online. I was lucky to get 5800x Tray version from Alternate for 469€ otherwise they are sold for over 500€ everywhere when any sample is there.
I bought 6800XT new unopened sample from private person on eBay who got it from Mindfactory on launch day from 869€ and sold me for 999€.
Seeing that custom cards were sold in range 979-1129€, I bought the reference for the price.
I need reference card for custom watercooling setup and after AMD's announcement that 6800XT reference will not be produced anymore from early 2021. It does not look like these will return in stock anymore.
So far very happy with 6800XT and 5800x setup. Doing lot of tuning currently to find best performance by pushing frequency up while undervolting and increasing power limit.
Hopefully EK will ship my waterblock this week so that I can do further tuning.
That bold bit, you don't say, so what are you about if not trolling.
