NVIDIA Releases GeForce 460.79 Game Ready Drivers with Cyberpunk 2077 Optimization

NVIDIA today released the GeForce 460.79 WHQL Game Ready drivers. These drivers come on the eve of what's easily the year's most anticipated game release—Cyberpunk 2077, and the drivers come with optimization, including support for DLSS and RTX raytracing. Also included is day-one optimization for Minecraft with RTX for Windows 10.

Among the issues fixed with GeForce 460.79 WHQL are an artifact noticed on certain Forza Motorsport 7 race tracks. Display color format changing from RGB to ycbcr422 on certain high refresh-rate displays has been fixed. G-Sync with 3x display Surround causing certain games to freeze at launch, which has been fixed. An issue causing NVAPI returning an incorrect Tensor core count for RTX 30-series GPUs has been fixed. MPC-HC crashing on playback of videos with 1088-pixel width has been fixed. Certain display settings relevant to 5K displays has been fixed. NVIDIA also expanded the list of G-Sync compatible displays, listed below.

DOWNLOAD: NVIDIA GeForce 460.79 WHQL

Fixed Issues in this Release
  • [Forza Motorsport 7]: The curb may display a black strip during a race on certain tracks. [2781776]
  • When setting the refresh rate higher than 100Hz, the color format switches from RGB to ycbcr422. [3053990]
  • [GeForce RTX 3090][SLI][G-SYNC]: When G-SYNC is enabled in SLI surround (3x monitors), the system locks up when launching a game. [3167493]
  • [GeForce RTX 3-series]: NvAPI_GPU_GetGPUInfo() returns an incorrect number of GPU Tensor Cores. [3140329]
  • [MPC-HC]: The video player crashes when playing 1088 pixel-width videos. [3148082]
  • [5k display]: When the display is set to 5k resolution, you cannot set the color settings from the NVIDIA Control Panel > Change resolution page. Either the controls are greyed out or they revert to the default after applying any change. [200630939/3182567].
Windows 10 Issues
  • [Steam VR game]: Stuttering and lagging occur upon launching a game. [3152190]
  • [G-SYNC][NVIDIA Ampere GPU architecture]: GPU power consumption may increase in idle mode on systems using certain higher refresh-rate G-SYNC monitors. [200667566]
  • [Freestyle][Vulkan apps]: With the freestyle filters applied, a blue-screen crash occurs when pressing [Alt+Tab] while running Vulkan applications. [200667477]
  • [YouTube]: Video playback stutters while scrolling down the YouTube page. [3129705]
  • [Notebook]: Some Pascal-based notebooks w/ high refresh rate displays may randomly drop to 60Hz during gameplay. [3009452]
  • [G-Sync][Vulkan Apps]: Performance drop occurs when using G-SYNC and switching from full-screen mode to windowed mode using the in-game settings. [200681477]
  • To workaround, either launch the game in windowed mode directly or disable G-SYNC.
  • [GeForce RTX 3070][Clone Mode]: When the resolution is set to 2560x1440 @ 144Hz, the performance state is stuck at maximum performance. [200678414]
  • [NVIDIA Turing or later][Windows Movies and TV Player]: When playing a 4k video in fullscreen mode on a 2560x1440 HDR monitor, the video extends beyond the edge of the screen. [3186830]

I highly doubt this new driver and removal of denuvo drm from the final version that comes out tonight will improve performance by that much.

shroud (and other streamers) are playing it now and it seems pretty smooth at 1080p (albeit the streams are locked to 60 FPS, of course).

@R-T-B Could you check if your HDMI 2.1 adapter works with this new version?

Thank god for this because right now Nvidia's website is bugged. I go to select 10 series and it automatically forces me back to 30 series. Fix your shit Nvidia.

EDIT **

Is anyone else having screen flicking with this driver? I'm getting screen flickering every minute with it, might just revert back. Looking at the Nvidia forms, I'm not the only one.

Looking at the changelog, I don't have high hopes. I can check though, and probably will when less busy. Whether that's tonight or later, is anyones guess.

Ironically after installing this, both my monitors changed to 4:2:2 and got stuck there until i powered the system off at the wall and manually set them back to RGB.
how odd.

This gives me hope they actually did change something in that area of the code. Maybe not all hope is lost re my adapter woes.

Earth to Nvidia, Cold War still crashes to desktop. Or maybe it's just the buggy game.

Probs the game. There's quite a few issues I have with it from time to time.

It does crash after a long game of endless Zombies though (like around wave 45). Most likely the game since Nuketown 24/7 grinding and the campaign didn't crash for me at all.

Shouldn't matter - it's the same driver anyway...

Correct. I was saying thank god because the Nvidia website was not allowing me to download with the glitch I described above. Not that it matters anyways, the driver has issues as well.

Definitely has issues, running single monitor at idle i'm seeing 110W used from the 3080... wtf nvidia

edit: needed DDU to fix this, going 1080 to 3080 broke the driver badly
