ASRock Launches Officially Licensed Sonic the Hedgehog Inspired Motherboard, the Z790 PG SONIC

Leading global motherboard manufacturer, ASRock, proudly announces its new ASRock Z790 PG SONIC, an officially licensed motherboard featuring SEGA's Sonic the Hedgehog. A 16-bit spinning ring emblazons the rear IO cover, while on the rear side you'll even catch a glimpse of Sonic mid-run. The ASRock motherboard is co-launched to celebrate the release of SEGA's new Sonic Frontiers game.

"Designed to bring back epic memories of catching rings in Green Hill Zone, the motherboard echoes Sonic's lightning speed with its fast blue and silver shards and Sonic silhouette, besides the motherboard outlook is designed around the Sonic the Hedgehog theme, the ASRock Z790 PG SONIC also features a SONIC-inspired UEFI BIOS interface", Said Chris Lee, Vice President of ASRock motherboard & gaming monitor business unit.
Hardware That's Gotta Go Fast
The ASRock Z790 PG SONIC features the fastest PCI-Express 5.0 for the latest generation of graphics and add-in cards, plus a Blazing M.2 PCI-Express 5.0 M.2 slot is ready for new, ultra-high speed NVMe SSDs - minimizing load times for gamers!

Killer E3100G 2.5G Ethernet is included, plus a generous array of rear IO USB connectivity, including 20 Gbps USB Type-C and ASRock's patent-pending Lightning Gaming Ports that are optimized for high speed keyboards and mice, minimizing input jitter and click latency. Nahimic Audio, by SteelSeries, ensures powerful and accurate gamer-focused audio is ready for headphones and speakers alike.

All LGA1700 processors can reach their full potential thanks to the 14+1+1 Dr.MOS VRM for CPU core and GT voltages. A generous VRM cooling heatsink, and a 2oz copper PCB underneath provides better thermal performance, even under sustained heavy load.

At least it looks like this is a global product and not limited to the Asian market as I thought when it leaked a while back.
Not a very exciting motherboard though.

All hail da Hog :D

Yea it's cute, at least they had enough restraint by NOT mucking it all up with a barf-inducing rainbow circus pukefest on top of the comic theme....

It doesn't look good for AsRock, though. Their revenue has been extremely terrible this year. So, it's kinda hard to invest in their products for those that supports them.

Another EVGA very soon?

Where is your source? I am thinking of buying one of their z690 motherboard but not if they are in financial trouble.

Not a good looking motherboard here and no WiFi.

My 10 year old son is a huge sonic fan, he would love this board!

Excuse to buy an Intel setup?

Maybe..

It's a nice change from the bland black motherboards we get these days but I'm not one for vanity builds. I actually like the bland black motherboards but wish RGBLED would always just default to on, as an opt-in rather than being a mandatory opt-out feature that's often not trivial to explain to an end user how to do.

It may have RGBLED but if you don't choose white or blue it's going to look awful.

I kind of want this board to if the price is right... but its not listed for sell anywhere yet, just checked. Found a third party seller that had it for almost 500... if I am going to spend 500 on a board I would get the Taichi Z790... so eh. Probably a no go for me no matter what.

I love me some Sonic the Hedgehog, shame it's Intel and expensive. Still awesome though!

Why does the USB C port have a 5 next to it if it is USB 3.2 2x2?

There's a header for a case mounted USB-C port as well.
For some reason a lot of board makers have made that the 20 Gbps port.

I love it... Would buy it if it was for AM4, since I have a 5600X and at most I will upgrade to a 5800X3D...

VRM's that most likely won't handle an unlocked 13 gen i7 and old audio codec.

I'm old enough to actually love to get one, played endless hours of Sonic :D , pure joy. The mobo would be cool for all acrylic case plus some all white graphics card.

My son loves this but I dont have the will to sell myself on the streets to make a sonic themed PC for him

This looks better than most boards do, somehow they've forgotten the joy of a simpler look that this does really well with the shadow (hah) outlines

its a nice board and there's proably a niche fanbase i m sure.
...but nexttime they should bring in a "WAIFU" motherboard. it will sell like hotcakes in Asia and rest of the world.

Imagine a Waifu board with "Insert BIG GPU here" logo ...LMAO

Be a bigger shame if it was AMD, even less sales then especially if AM5/R7000!

Still tempted to get one, though the novelty might wear off fairly quick lol

That's a bad idea, the RMAs alone thanks to "liquid damage" would bankrupt even the biggest company!

Might as well go for a Z790? I'll be throwing a 12th gen in mine lol assuming i bother to get it, as it'll be on pay monthly lol
