This Week in Gaming (Week 49)

As we enter the last month of the year, the first week of December starts with a movie based AAA title that is likely to be popular with some and loathed by others. The rest of this coming week's releases aren't quite as impressive, with one exception it seems. However, you can look forward to a mix of underworld dreams, some 4X space action, eggs, another post-apocalyptic MMO and a horror game.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora / This week's AAA title / Thursday 7 December
Abducted by the human militaristic corporation known as the RDA, you, a Na'vi, were trained and molded to serve their purpose. Fifteen years later, you are free, but find yourself a stranger in your birthplace. Reconnect with your lost heritage, discover what it truly means to be Na'vi, and join other clans to protect Pandora from the RDA.
Svarog's Dream / Monday 4 December
In Svarog's Dream, you will have absolute freedom to explore the world and make decisions.
However, freedom comes with consequences; over time, your actions will shape the world around you, either for the better or worse.
Stellaris Nexus / Tuesday 5 December
Time is a valuable currency in our everyday lives and we all know how much time a really good 4X game can take to complete. What if you could have a 4X game that can be played in the time that it takes you to do the laundry? Stellaris Nexus is a multiplayer turn-based 4X clash for galactic dominance, played from start to finish in about an hour!
Bad Egg / Wednesday 6 December
One egg stands alone vs an army of zombie chickens! Get to the chopper or you're clucked. A free-range frenzy from the eggheads behind Shell Shockers, Slayaway Camp and Plants vs Zombies.
The Day Before / Thursday 7 December
The Day Before offers players a uniquely reimagined journey into post-apocalyptic open-world MMO survival set in the present day on the US East Coast following a deadly pandemic.
Abtos Covert / Friday 8 December
You are in a remote military outpost at Mount Abtos and you're tasked to guard it. The only things visible from there are an old shrine and the forest. Many are afraid of this infamous outpost because of the local folklore stories. Actually, too many stories... Will you be safe, all alone?

Ah yes, FarCry: Pandora, amazing how everything Ubisoft touches turns into the same type of game as pretty much all of their other games.

I can't wait for this to release thursday, just in time since i have the weekend off and it will rain/snow outside :)
I love OwlCat and their games, but I held off on pre-ordering and will definitely not play Rogue Trader on release. Experience shows that we’d be lucky if the game is stable and functional like a couple of months in. I hope to be wrong, but Kingmaker was a mess and WotR fixed a lot of issues that have been hanging around since release in a patch… a week or two ago. Of course, new ones were introduced with it, as you do.
My only hope is that since RT doesn’t need to juggle RTWP and TB modes it will be more stable by default.

I did not pre-order it. But i will buy it if reviews are good on the things you mentioned. I don't think i played a game from OwlCat ever, buti really like the Warhammer setting both fantasy and 40k, so i hope it's good at launch :)

Svarog's Dream looks intriguing. I find its old-school mix of isometric RPG and hack'n'slash charming.

And from what I've seen so far, Avatar is the first game that looks like a proper next-gen title. With its impressive graphics, I predict even top-end cards will struggle to deliver 60 fps in native 1440p on ultra. I will probably try it out with a monthly pass just to benchmark my systems.

it's amazing that more than one year in WOTR is still plagued with a TON of bugs -as judged by that huge patch release last week-, they still push DLCs and crap when the base game is super bugged.
I did not touch kingmaker until 6 months~ passed(before the "GOTY" edition), and even then i got burned by the bugs -when i played it there was no turn based mode, they added it in beta later and it was a irreversible choice- and i also had to turn on a ton of mods to make it playable and not pure pain.

so yeah... i'm not touching rogue trader until AT LEAST one more year after release.

The other games for this week... hrmff:

avatard, pass, i don't want to join the blue hippies i want to join the earth forces and scorch and mine the planet.
the outpost thing is one of those atmospheric terror games, pass
the day bef... mmo.. open world... two words that guarantee turdiness, hard pass
bad egg... pass, i never cared or even know about all the other games the makers did
stellaris nexus: sooo it's a multiplayer stellaris?, doesn't stellaris already have MP?, or it's a express stellaris?, i'll take a gander to play it coop PVE, if it does not have PVE, hard pass.
svarog thingie... open-world, pass i want linear campaigns on a silver railroad

I may sound like a big fat cliché, but I'm curious to try the Avatar game. :)

The last one (James Cameron's Avatar The Game) disappeared from Steam and seems to be forgotten by everyone, but it wasn't bad as far as I remember.

I just escaped from the facility in Avatar. I can tell all of you that Pandora is absolutely beautiful in 4K and super sharp too.

Is it coming to Steam, though? I want the game, but I don't want it on the terrible Ubi launcher, or the even worse Epic. :(

I expect at some point it will. It needs to for long term support Ubi have updated their launcher but I guess they want eyes on it.

To be honest, I don't mind if I need the Ubi launcher running to play the game. I just want it on Steam, as I have about 90% of my games there.

That was actually a good game. I didn't and still don't have any complains about it. Its graphics was very beautiful for the era and also the gameplay.
It really was a very underrated game.
