Red Sea Attacks to Affect PC Part Shipments to Europe

The recent attacks on cargo ships in the Red Sea are affecting not only oil shipments, but also cargo ships from Asia to Europe. All major carriers such as CMA CGM, Cosco, Evergreen, Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk, MSC and so forth are affected and all have delayed their shipments through the area. A coordinated security action called Operations Prosperity Guardian which includes over half a dozen nations so far, is getting ready to guide shipments through the affected area by Yemen, but it'll lead to slower shipments through the area.

TechPowerUp has already received reports from sources in Taiwan that their products are on some of these ships that are now stuck waiting for naval escorts through the area. However, it appears that there might be shortages of some computer components for the foreseeable future, alongside many other products that are being shipped this route and onwards via the Suez Canal. According to the BBC, it takes 25.5 days on average to ship goods from Taiwan to the Netherlands via the Red Sea and Suez Canal whereas the only alternative route via the Cape of Good Hope takes 34 days and adds extra fuel costs. Regardless of the extra shipping times and costs, it appears some shipping companies are willing to take the longer route to avoid being attacked. This is likely to have a knock on effect on prices for a lot of consumer goods in Europe, so if you haven't bought that hardware you've been holding off getting, now might be as good a time as any.

The piracy is being driven by Houthi militias (Iranian-backed); this is all to fund their campaign in the ongoing Yemen Civil War.
The more disturbing bit however, is that the Qatari government is now supporting them...which to say the least, complicates things.

LOL, Actually it was more what Vayra86 was saying. You see after that all of the other Empires in Europe attacked France. That was how Napoleon was created. Now we live in a World where Putin is losing and trying to open New theatres to get some relief. Whether it is Africa, Venezuela, YEMEN, Israel (propaganda) or Ukraine they are all of the same root. The Republicans and Hungary have just blocked $110 billion dollars of military aid to Ukraine and Russia has moved a serious ICBM to the Arctic circle. This is nuanced by the fact that it will be mostly Chinese vessels effected by the PC part embargo (all shipping to Israel). Before you get on me about politics if the Grandmothers of the soldiers in the IDF saw what the way they treat the Palestinians they would slap every one of them in the face. It is interesting though that it took a threat to PC shipments to have TPU discuss the Gravity of our times.

If I had done unspeakable things that Palestinian soldiers did on October 7 and after, I would expect my grandmother to cause far more harm to me than merely slapping me.

You should read more history to see how nuanced negatively that situation is. Oct 7 vs 1949 is not even on level. To the point where someone influenced HAMAS to do a suicide mission. There is no mistake in who leads Israel right now. Are you trying to tell me that it was good for the current leader to try to change laws to protect his position from his own transgressions? There is a clear difference between Zionism and Judaism. It is the same way people that watch only Fox News (and it's derivatives) are no different than rural Russians. They are both pumped with propaganda. I will give you an example. During the aftermath of the racially motivated shooting in Buffalo, Joe Rogan did a pod cast where he took a part of what the Prime Minister of Canada said in regards to the shooting and twisted it into a Trudeau hates Guns rant that he and his African American guest opined on for the next hour. Or how on Fox News they said that the Prime Minister had got UN troops to kill a protester than had been trampled by the crowd running from police horses during the ridiculous protest that Right wing entities were funding to pump the Capital of Canada full of Hydro Carbons. Today we complain about a Carbon tax while the richest individuals are trying to build colonies on Mars and the Moon to escape the coming climate catastrophe. Before you jump down my throat look up the UN Commision Report on Climate Change circa 2019 and see that the thing the media does not talk about is in there..water vapour. I saw clouds heading North at about 100 km/h on Saturday. The next morning I saw flocks of Geese flying North and I don't need to tell you how wrong that is if I live in Canada. Yep I am on vacation and have had a few Dabs already so the sauce is working nice. Now I am going to escape to Pandora or Warhammer universe and feed my third eye with content to make me forget the gravity of our situation.

Vayra86Just because we're drowning ourselves in escapism doesn't mean things don't exist.

Consider the fact that whole generations now, have not seen or known domestic war. Similarly, those generations don't know how this did work in an age without internet.
Ahhh yeah, I've been next to war on the streets where people would stab themselves, luckily I have moved somewhere else, now I just have to be bothered by Russia so not like I have been exploring bunkers and stuff for whenever it's needed

Is it just me or will these companies just jump onto any excuse to raise their prices?
