This Week in Gaming (Week 49)

Welcome to the first week of December and the first of advent for those that celebrate it. This week's AAA release is the 2024 release of a FPS shooter that first saw life back in 1998, but under a new developer and publisher. Delta Force / This week's AAA title / Thursday 5 December

From what I have seen of the Twitch gaming community, Marvel Rivals may end up being a sleeper win for December. Streamers seemed to like it. Only indie games for me right now, since I am rocking my OLED 7840u ryzen laptop at the moment.

There's supposed to be a single player mode. How much of a campaign it is, I don't know.

Where does it say that? There's loads of streamers using Windows 11 that streamed that game during the Beta.

Is this like GRAW/Rainbow 6/First to Fight, where you control multiples for team based but not multiplayer online? - they rocked, but so old now. I don't do online with real people (screaming 16 yo from my experience).

Online multiplayer shooters such as Delta Force are a blast. DF also has extraction modes if you're into that thing.

Nah, all my game things are still in Taiwan, which seems to be restricting me from accessing some games.

GRAW (PC) is still very playable. There’s a ton of maps done by now gone =TeamStealth= clan, and other people and clans. There are several active discord groups, that serms to have regular events, with GRAW, and GRFS, aand RSV 1&2.
However GRAW is not very DF similar. It's much slower and unforgivable. The two PITA moments, though, are view distance, and server maintaning.
Also, GRAW (PC) community was seems to be never about screaming teenagers, but rather always and completely consisted of very adult and grown up men and women. One of the nice features of this game.
The closest thing to GRAW (PC), was Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. Since the developers themsrlves told, they took the best from it, and BF2142/2.

Why_MeOnline multiplayer shooters such as Delta Force are a blast. DF also has extraction modes if you're into that thing.
The online Delta Force was called Joint Operations, and it perfectly combined all NovaLogic games, like DF4:BHD, Commanche 4, and Armored Fist in one single game. From my experience, this was first such grand combined arms project. It still is very much playable. The coop and PVP is still fine. The variable time of day, gorgeous landscapes, gigantic maps, cooperation, 128 player per server, all is there, since 2004.
The key feature of DF4/JO was its simplicity, and swift gamplay, while having many stuff other combined arms games were and are still lack altogether.
(like e.g. shoot from a mortar, while sitting on the rubber boat, running full speed on the river/sea. Diving, whitch seems is a complete taboo for EA/DICE. Hijack the hostile vehicle, by jumping from the "Little Bird", straight on the heads of the enemies. Or sitting/disembarking from a FAV that parked in a heli, two hundred meters high in the sky, and freely moving on board of any vehicle.
Also, the character appearence customisation, both male and female, etc.
The only issue, the game has no vehicle repair function.

The subject might look nice. Though I strongly doubt it will ever reach the scale of mentioned games.

Excuse me for an offtopic.
