Vista SP1 Sooner Than Expected

Looks like Vista's SP1 is coming a lot sooner than expected since Mary Jo Foley's reports that a Vista SP1 beta may already be tested among Microsoft's beta testing members around the globe thus we may be seeing SP1 at around November, or as vaguely described by Microsoft PR "sometime this year".
Chances are that we may get an even earlier gaze at SP1 on August 8th at Microsoft Australia's TechEd conference on the Gold Coast this year.

I'll say this: the sooner SP1 comes out, the sooner I'll buy Vista.

I just re-installed XP...I like Vista to an extent, but it's not really worth it. At least not for thix DX9 individual, sure my games ran good to decent, but not good to great, and just some compatability issues I got tired of waiting for a fix of. If SP1 fixes enough, I may switch back, but as for now, just like DX10's official support, not for now..but it will happen!
:toast:

But those are my feelings, opinions and choices, others may disagree to how I feel or think, but my reasons justify for me.

Vista is for posers.... and yes, I used to use Vista.

Now I use Ubuntu Linux as my Primary, and Server 2003 for Gaming. Both are way more stable, secure, and efficient (fast).

Something tells me Vista SP1 isn't going to be the savior everyone expects it to be.

after years of looking at the Windows XP desktop, I think the Vista interface would be a nice change. who doesn't like bells and whistles? I see a lot of new laptops in class with Vista installed ...makes me want to get it. but then, im reminded of all the issues Vista has yet to resolve. the waiting game is played a lot in the computer industry :(

My OEM vista, uninstalled from my system lies in my main storage box that i use for quick computer recovery/installation/backups. It sits beneath my pirated copies of XP and XP64. :p

Vista is not that bad. There is no question that XP runs better especially on older systems. But if you have the hardware to run Vista it is fine. It never BSOD unless it is a driver issue. I mean the OS is as stable as XP was when it was first released. Sure SP1 wil be welcomed, especially to dump UAC (what a POS that is). But again if you have the hardware to run it, then it is fine. What they need to do in SP1 is make the OS run better on older machines, then they may start selling the thing to more of the masses...

Yeah i personally think vista is great, but ONLY on fast hardware - its just like DX10 titles at the moment, and it really needs high speed hardware (particulalry hard drive, ram and CPU) to shine.

BUt yay for SP1! fixes are always welcome.

I can use vista, but ONLY if:

I have 3 backup harddrives w/ XP, 2000, and ubuntu (I like little downtime)

I use my personal stripped edition, because the stripped editions I've seen don't even got networking, and the full is too bloated.

Well, at least its sooner rather than later. I got Vista Ultimate but Im debating on partitioning my HDD and dual booting or so. Id like to check out Vista to be sure, but not use it for gaming, at least not now.
