Sapphire Adds AGP TO HD 2000 Series

First to bring the latest AMD graphics architectures to the industry standard AGP bus for desktop graphics, leading supplier Sapphire Technology is now shipping AGP versions of several of its HD 2000 series products. First to be available is the Sapphire HD 2600 PRO AGP which will be shortly followed by the XT version and HD 2400 models.

Bringing the latest ATI RadeonTM HD 2000 series architecture to the AGP bus for the first time, the Sapphire HD 2600 PRO AGP delivers fast gaming performance to the upgrade market together with industry-leading image quality and crystal clear High Definition digital video. With 120 stream processors and 24 Unified Shader pipelines the HD 2600 PRO AGP is unrivalled in its class and delivers an impressive set of image quality features like simultaneous HDR with adaptive anti-aliasing and a palette of over one billion colours. The Sapphire HD 2600 PRO AGP will enable users to get the most out of their gaming experiences and is DX10 ready.

The Sapphire HD 2600 PRO natively supports HDCP and features the highly acclaimed ATI Avivo HD Technology for High Definition video and display, delivering a better quality home theatre viewing experience than most consumer systems.

Sapphire's graphics cards are Microsoft Windows Vista certified and supported by the ATI Catalyst Software Suite, ensuring customers have easy and ongoing access to software updates for performance, stability and added features.

things catered to select markets usually are more expensive but AGP users should be happy a major company is still churning out new products for them. Kudos to AMD.

maybe so. but i wasnt too happy when i went down my local hardware hut looking for a AGP BLiss 7900GS+ only to find out that they were more expensive then a X1900XTX which was the top card at the time. select or not. you dont see people selling an P3 or an XP Athlon CPU for 400quid

AGP cards like these have Rialto bridge chips and are to be expected to cost more than their PCI-E counterparts; more components=greater cost unfortunately :(

Visiontek's had some out too. I almost want one of these things, but I've heard they're full of problems (mostly stemming from ATI's drivers).

Img lad to see companies still supporting AGP. IT was a champ in its day and kicked it out like none other. REgretfully, I say that in the near future, they may want to quit supporting it. By then, it will be too costly and keep the prices up when they should be lower.
