Brilliant! This could eat into the 8800 GTS (G92) sales. Number of PCB layers really wouldn't affect you as long as you're not giving it a punishing OC. They are NOT selling a substandard/cheap quality product by reducing the PCB layers, IF they're reducing it.

What I said earlier was companies found it better to use the same 10PCB layers for all the gcards rather than different PCB's for diffrent chips.

yes, and that's because earlier, we were dealing with 90nm cores like the G80 or the 80nm ones, R600. These cores had very high thermal envelopes, the components and circuitry were made to run on a 8+ layer PCB to reduce electronic noise. With the G92, NVIDIA incorporated pulse width modulation (digital+hybrid) and this greatly tones down the electronic noise and a 8+ layer PCB is not required. Yes, higher variants could still have it but that would be only when the PCB is loaded with kilos of components or gluttonous GPU's.

i like this card, the fact that its orange and the fact that it looks like it has a decent cooler on it

Sapphire has video cards with blue/teal PCBs and there are many video cards with black and gold PCBs out there. Even silver colored ones. (Mostly limited to Asian markets.)

^Some people buy cards based on their PCB colours to match that of the motherboards. I've seen that happen to the 8800 GTX/GTS that came out with black PCB's and later in green. People started selling those leftover black PCB cards for a high price on ebay.

Soyo and Albatron for awhile made silver PCB, apparently it wasn't just for aesthetics.

According to Albatron, the coating on this motherboard is actual silver. Not silver colour, but the actual metal suspended in a binding agent. The apparent benefits of this are thermal dissipation for board mounted components, and increased EMI shielding. Albatron claim that in their own testing, on average a board with this silver coating produces 47% less EMI emissions than a non-coated motherboard.

Not a bad board to use in a plexi or lexan case!

8800gtx .. big whoop, thats the top end of the market, with what, 1% of the market. 3850 and 8800GT is in the middle, where the meat is, mmm, lots of flesh on that bone, but how long did they take to get here? Two points.

DX10 ... i dont think it has bee na major achievement yet or ever will, ill reserve final judgement til i get my HD3870.

Who cares about the damn colors its hardware and if it's good clocking hardware who gives a damn?
Although I think 1GB is a little much for a card like the 8800GT. And ditch the single slot cooler.
