All Xbox 360 Prices Slashed on March 14th?

A number of industry sources have indicated that Microsoft is due to cut the price of all Xbox 360 SKUs in Europe. According to TechRadar backed up by numerous UK retailers, the price of every Xbox 360 SKU is to be slashed by as much as €50 on March 14th across Europe. If true, the Arcade Xbox 360 will retail for around GBP 150 in the UK - cheaper than Nintendo's Wii console - the Elite will sell below GBP 240 and the Premium at just under GBP 200. Microsoft of course declined to comment on the story before press time, as expected.

BrooksyXHopefully this will lead to a price drop in the US too. I already have a 360 but this will probably lead to a Wii price drop and I have been wanting to get one.
I doubt this will lead the a wii price drop.
Main reason is due to the fact that they are still hard to find these days.
Why drop the price of a product if you cant keep it in stock anywhere?

I must say it is quite fun.
Something different and innovative.
Plus, the games that Nintendo is publishing are pretty good like Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Wii Sports, Zelda, etc.

Also, it helps a lot of people get out of their seats and move around a bit.

Actually I think its the other way around.
There are more good single player games than multi-player games for the Wii.
There are a lot of good games - I am obv. not mentioning them all.
Here is one for example : No More Heroes :)

RavenasYeah, alot of the minimum wage in the US in around $8.00. However, in Tennessee our minimum wage is $5.25
I was under the impression that the US Government had just raised the minimum wage a few months ago to $5.85. Most states though have higher minimum wages than that since they too can set their minimum wages but they just have to be the same or higher than the US governments set standard. Heck here in alabama before the US government minimum wage increase was set in stone, the minimum wage was still $5.15. From what I understood from what happened in Washington is that after each 6 months they would raise the minimum wage by .70 till it reached $7.25 which means that the next raise in minimum wage should be $6.55. But who knows lol lete me find some sources to back my claim to make sure I have the correct information stored in my brain. lol. Sorry for being off topic.
I sure hope that there is indeed a prce drop in the US ax well soon. Seiing as How Microsoft has finally made a profit overall from the development costs of the xbox and xbox 360 etc. So now that their in the green they can start loosening their grip on the prices at least for the consoles. no word yet on Xbox LIVE but yeah you do get what you pay for imo at least but lets leave that part of the discussion alone please.

Nope, Tennessee has no minimum wage law. Therefore, our minimum wage has remained at $5.15 or $5.25.

Well, I was on topic, until a certain someone...oh I'll leave it at that. Anyhow the point of me bringing up the minimum wage was that:

It was brought up that Europe pays 286 euros, which is actually like 586 US dollars. People in Europe always seem to bring this up but to me it seems like a false arguement because it's not like they have a minimum wage of 4 euros which would be equal to our minimum wage. Infact, they have minimum wage that is more accurate to what the systems are priced in Europe. Just because are dollar is horrible doesn't mean you guys are getting overcharged.

Essentially you could ship it in, correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't they charge you more to have it shipped from US so that it equals what you would pay in europe?

PiabloThe price drop has nothing to do with HD-DVD or BluRay. The HD drive was a separate add-on anyway. In case you haven't noticed, the US dollar is tanking while the Euro and British Pound are doing well. Microsoft still gets to pay the same US$ amount for each box manufactured even while the value tumbles, essentially paying less for each box. As the BP gains value, Microsoft makes more and more for every box sold in the UK. Other companies are starting to adjust prices as a result of this. Canadians are suing GM and other automakers because of this very issue. As the Canadian dollar gains value, their prices have not adjusted, and therefore cars are costing Canadians more. It's the same reason gas is on the rise in the US, and anything imported is beginning to cost more.
its the liberals that are doing it plain and simple, and there lets make everything free bullshit

here its 5.75 in Texas, though its stated to increase at the end of this year to 6.75 an hour, and next year top at 7.50 an hour. But most places dont higher at minimum wage to be honest, the average starting rate for most low wage jobs is 6-6.50 an hour, if you get hired at min wage here, you didn't look. Hell fast food around here starts you at 6.50 on average

I hope this price cut wanders over to the US, along with the new blue-ray drive (soon to be).

I don't think MS will lower the price in the US unless PS3 continues to gain on them in sales. The 360 is selling well with top quality games coming out regularly, so why lower the price unless competition forces you to? They have a sweet spot right in between the Wii and the PS3, and they can't get the XBOX with the hd down to Wii's pricing anyways or Bill would lose his shirt!

They should really just ditch the Arcade model or add a hard drive too it. These 360s are getting so cheap that it doesn't even make sense to have the Arcade system anymore. They should just launch the new Premium 60GB for $299 USD and sell the Elite 120GB for $399 USD. Those prices seem like the fairest for both the company and the consumer to me. Personally I think the Xbox 360 is currently overpriced, but I guess they didn't want to drop it till they stopped selling well. When it was launched it was well worth the $399 at the time, today I don't see how they are still selling the same console for $349. Amazing they can still sell these things at that price when you can get a Blu-Ray playing PS3 for $50 more. I guess it has to do with 360's killer game lineup. Perhaps the best game lineup of all time on what might be the least reliable console of all time...can't have it all I guess.

This price cut, plus Lian Li's new case for it, has made me a believer! Halleluhlia! One thing I never liked about the 360 was it's looks. But, now that it can match my computer?! I'm sold!:)
