Microsoft Reportedly Recruiting Engineers Away from Yahoo

Microsoft has started a recruitment-drive aimed at Yahoo's engineers after futile attempts to acquire the company.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, Microsoft sent a detailed email to marketing staff and select engineers. The email reportedly said. "I know a lot of people from Yahoo have been reaching out to us lately because they are nervous about the pending layoffs. I wanted to give you an opportunity to explore Microsoft careers as well."

Microsoft has several offices in the San Francisco Bay Area, where it is now showing a renewed interest in adding office space and employees. Microsoft already has offices in San Francisco and Mountain View, about one million square feet of office space, and 2,000 employees.

^ I seriously doubt that, if you were facing a layoff, you'd jump at the oppurtunity.

Seems like the yahoo exec's moronic mistakes won't trickly down to the employees, nice that microsoft is willing to take the employees anyways. I just hope the lower end peopel will have similar oppurtunities.

Honestly not surprised one bit. In the best and worst of times this happens in technology companies often if the prospect has talent. I would surmise this was occurring prior to the whole Yahoo/M$ fiasco, it just wasn't "sexy" to the media at the time.

my message to microsoft: leave yahoo alone, leave us alone with your spyware-full-bloatware, give linux and osx dx10.1 and go fuck yourself.

i don't think anyone worthy of a job will be fired, but even if that happens, I bet it will be a blessing for them to find an opening at MS.

nice good clean underhanded tactics that don't break the law. Offer a bigger salary better benefits and hire the top people at yahoo and boom yahoo fails insta

Why hate on Microsoft? It's only business, and as others have stated... it's legitimate :)

I don't get why you tell M$ to fuck themselves, and use Linux/OSX but you've got Windows XP?:wtf:

It's only business, and I don't see a problem with it. :toast:

Its just like the tried and tested tactics of war.. cut off their resources and the trench pushing dies. M$ is applying that to yahoo. Imo, M$ is the depiction of a modern day roman empire. Acquiring land masses and armies to reflect their kingdom's superiority.
