Gigabyte GA-IBP LGA-1156 Motherboard Pictured

It looks like motherboard vendors aren't missing the opportunity CeBIT provides to display their upcoming motherboards, notably those based on Intel's LGA-1156 supportive P55 chipset. One of the first ones from the house of Gigabyte is the GA-IBP. "IBP" refers to "Ibex Peak", the platform codename. Featuring most common components of a motherboard of its kind, that include four DDR3 DIMM slots for dual-channel memory, connections for Intel's Felxible Display Interface (FDI), three PCI-E x16 (electrical x16, x8, x8, rearranges based on slot population), and the single-chip P55 chipset, the board supports both ATI CrossFireX and NVIDIA SLI technologies. six internal SATA ports, HDCP-compliant onboard audio and dual-Gigabit LAN make for the rest of the offering. We will learn more about this basic design from Gigabyte as we get closer to the launch of Intel's upcoming LGA-1156 processors.

Except for the fact that it's impossible for this board to run x16 x8 x8 as the CPU only has x16 lanes to start with. The P55 chipset, if you can call it that, SCH or whatever it's meant to be, has 8 lanes, but from what I understand, you can only bond 4 of those lanes to create a x4 slot, the other four can't be bonded and besides, if you did all 8 lanes, then there would be no left for x1 slots and things like network controllers etc.

the nvidia BR02 gives it a wonderful extra 16x worth of lanes

The first blue slot is an x16 slot, the rest orange are x8 (lack half of its wiring). How they arrange themselves electrically when populated is not mentioned. You can take a faint guess looking at the picture. Look at the wiring between the first slot and the second orange slot (they should arrange as x8 x8 when both are populated). The third slot is marked "PCI-E x4". It should be connected to the PCH.

Any idea on the mounting? Looks like LGA775 (which sucks as I imported a LGA1366 mount that is gonna go to waste due to not going Nehalem :().

ugh I wish they would do away with those plastic tabs on the video card slots. makes video cards a real pain in the ass to remove.

Sure has the looks of a bare bones board. I won't buy 1 from this series, but I'd like to see the UD3 version.
