Sony PLAYSTATION2 Goes Down to $99 Tomorrow
The official PLAYSTATION blog posted today that as of next month the second generation Sony PLAYSTATION game console will be sold for as low as $99 MSRP, down from $129. PLAYSTATION 2 recently sold 50 million units in North America, and now the console is cheaper than ever. First released almost nine years ago in year 2000, the PS2 is still loyal to its owners. To date the console offers over 1900 game titles as well as some of the latest games such as MLB '09, Ghostbusters: The Video Game, Guitar Hero Metallica and MotorStorm: Arctic Edge.
The new price sounds almost too good to be true, but let us remind you that tommorow is April fools' day.

if I found it for £50 I'd pick it up, cus I have one of the originals still going
man i think that this is a joke what do they want to do is like make it so every human has one!
Ya can buy em brand new for 180 odd bucks here brand new. Pity i already have the PS2 along with the original one and the PS3.
And is your smiley a messed up wink or a backwards tearful sad face :p
Of course, me being who I am, I went to the pay-as-you-play arcade and tore shit up on Guitar Hero III on expert, and I had Argentinians left and right cheering me on. I drew such a crowd, they started letting me play for free and wanted to know when I was going to be there playing to advertise me being in there :p
Or if I go with the $200 Arcade console, I still have to put out $100 for the 60GB HDD and another $100 for the Wireless Adaptor, and another $20 a Play and Charge kit.
We can talk about used figures, but they aren't really useful, I've found used PS3's for under $300, and they usually come with games and extra accessories. I'm talking new prices, what you would have to put out if you walked in the store today and bought everything new. Then you are missing out, there are a lot of things the PS3 can do, some of them even involve gaming, and you probably use them and not even think about it.
A wireless connection for starts, something the PS3 comes with, but the Xbox360 doesn't.
The ability to use any USB cable to charge the controllers, with no need to buy an extra accessory to charge the controller, and the PS3 comes with the USB cable to boot. Hell, for the $20 I had to put out for a Play and Charge kit, I bought a 15 ft. USB cable to charge my PS3 controller, so I charge it while sitting on my couch in my living room if I want, something I actually can't do with my Play and Charge kit because the cable is too short.
