Philips Unveils the DisplayHDR 600-rated 326M6VJRMB Ultra HD Monitor

Philips today unveiled the 326M6VJRMB, a 31.5-inch 4K Ultra HD monitor certified by VESA to meet DisplayHDR 600 standards. Backed by an AMVA panel, the monitor puts out 10bpc or 1.07 billion colors, 178°/178° viewing-angles, 4 ms response time, and 3,000:1 static contrast ratio with 600 cd/m² maximum brightness. Two features let you care for your eyes - a blue-light reduction mode that makes the display less irritable to your eyes, and a flicker-free brightness adjustment, which uses a non-PWM method to reduce brightness of the LED backlighting. The monitor features RGB LED-based ambient lighting. You get plenty of inputs, including a DisplayPort 1.4, three HDMI 2.0, an analog audio line-in from your PC, and a USB 3.0 input to drive the 4-port USB 3.0 hub. In-built 5W stereo speakers make for the rest of it.

HP Omen X Emperium 65 is the FIRST NVIDIA BFGD Product: 4K, HDR, G-SYNC, 144 Hz for $4,999

Product context: HP showcased their new and upcoming Omen X Emperium 65 at CES, an NVIDIA BFGD (Big Format Gaming Display) with all the features the company deems premium and attractive to gamers: 4K resolution, a huge, 65" diagonal AMVA panel, HDR (1,000 nits of peak luminance and 95 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut) , G-Sync, and 120 - 144Hz refresh rate (144 Hz is overclocked) with a gray-to-gray response time is rated for 4ms. It features an incorporated sound bar with 120 W of power and three amps. An integrated NVIDIA Shield makes an appearance as well as a multimedia juggernaut solution. All of this in a $4,999 body, launching in February 2019.

Thoughts: Rollback. A $4,999 price-tag. Maybe this is just me, but NVIDIA seems to be finally introducing their BFGDs at the worst possible time, considering the company has just formally announced that their GeForce graphics cards would be finally supporting VESA's VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) standard. This brings with it FreeSync support - for monitors and, we'd expect, TV's as well, considering that the driver solution will be toggable by users even in a non-NVIDIA certified display.

Its AMVA panel offers 178°/178° viewing angles. Display inputs include DisplayPort 1.2, and HDMI 1.4. Acer Announces the Predator Z35P - 35", 1800R, 3440x1440, G-SYNC

Acer has added another entry to their Predator line of gaming monitors. The Z35P comes in to replace the company's now aging Z35, which boasted of a 2560x1080 resolution (which while relatively low for today's standards, I have to say I really enjoy.) The Z35P brings the specs up to speed with today's standards, with a higher resolution and a better contrast ratio than its predecessor. Its design reminds me of a running Flood infection form, honestly, but that may be just me.

The Z35P is based on a 35" AMVA panel with a 3440x1440 resolution (2.39:1 aspect ratio and 106 PPI), has a relatively low maximum brightness of 300 nits (no HDR support here I'm afraid), a 2500:1 contrast ratio, a 100 Hz refresh rate, 178°/178° viewing angles, a 4 ms response time, and a 1800R curvature. Reports indicate the refresh rate can be overclocked from 100 Hz to 120 Hz (with G-SYNC to boot), which isn't all that shabby. Connectivity-wise, the Predator Z25P features 1x HDMI 1.4 port, 1x DisplayPort 1.2, 4x USB Type-A headers (with 1x USB-B input) and 1x 3.5-mm audio jack which drives the two 9 W integrated speakers. While in operation, the panel consumes up to 65 W of power. The Acer Predator Z35P is expected to be available in the U.S. in the coming weeks for $1099.99.

AUOptronics Develops 144 Hz WQHD IPS Panel

Display panel OEM AU Optronics announced development of a new 27-inch AHVA panel. AHVA, or advanced hyper-viewing angle, is AU Optronics' equivalent of LG's IPS panel technology, and is not to be confused with AMVA (advanced multidomain vertical alignment). Codenamed M270DAN02.3, the panel offers stellar refresh rates of 144 Hz, and native resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Other vitals include 1000:1 contrast ratio, 350 cd/m² maximum brightness, sRGB gamut, and of course, 178°/178° viewing angles. Its introduction could spur growth of "gaming" grade monitors, which come with technologies specific to gaming PCs, such as AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync support, that dynamically sync the display's refresh-rate with the frame-rate of the graphics card, to minimize stuttering, and produce a fluid display output.

Philips Releases New, 24-inch ErgoSensor Display

With a recent study showing that 80 percent of "knowledge workers" experience pain and fatigue after a long working day at their desks, it is clear that user health and wellbeing is a challenge that manufacturers have to take seriously. Reaffirming its commitment to keeping deskworkers healthy, MMD, the leading technology company and brand license partner for Philips Monitors, announces the release of the new 24-inch ErgoSensor display to complement line-up of office displays designed for wellbeing at work.

Over 80 percent of deskworkers suffer from work-related pain
To find out more about the current state of office ergonomics and the challenges users are facing, earlier this year MMD commissioned a study on the ergonomics of workplaces. The results of the study, conducted in Germany, Sweden and Denmark, are indeed alarming: over 80 percent of users have experienced pain and fatigue after a day at the computer - yet only half of private-sector workers in Germany have a height-adjustable display. User feedback in other markets shows that this issue is not limited to Germany.
