Cooler Master has a formidable presence at this year's CES, with the company unveiling 7 new cases. These include co-branding iterations of existing case models with the likes of ASRock Phantom Gaming and ASUS TUF Gaming Alliance. The MasterBox Q300L from last year gets TUF Gaming Alliance bodywork, which includes variations to the front panel mesh, streaks of TUF yellow, and a matte-black (somewhat gunmetal) finish for the metal bits. The ASRock Phantom Gaming renditions of the MasterBox K500 and MasterCase H500P Mesh swap out plain silver with chrome-like shades of brighter silver metallic finish, with red accents, a few more crease lines, and ASRock's favorite shade of red illuminating the fans, out of the box. This keeps up with the design scheme of ASRock Phantom Gaming series motherboards.

The new MasterBox NR400 and NR600 ATX introduce a new direction in which Cooler Master is taking its case designs - matte black, with very few creases or accents, and a subtle contrasting gray opaque band running across the mesh. The NR600 ATX is a conventional tower with a horizontally partitioned layout. The NR400 is a micro-ATX tower with a similar layout as its bigger sibling. Lastly, there are the MasterBox Q500L and Q500P, which are stretched out variations of the Q300 series, and designed for ATX builds, while retaining the cube-like appearance of their predecessors.

Cooler Master, a global leader in manufacturing CPU coolers, computer components and peripherals, today provides an overview of the company's upcoming thermal solutions including a new All-in-One (AIO) CPU cooler, three new air coolers and a new fan series. Cooler Master will expand on the MasterAir series, with three new air coolers in varying form factors. The G100m v2 will utilize Cooler Master's two phase heat column technology, with a seven times larger circumference compared to standard heat pipes, for a more rapid heat transfer over a smaller surface area. Mounted atop the uniquely designed G100M v2 is an ARGB fan and ring for an added visual appeal.

MasterBox Q500L and Q500P
The MasterBox Q500L applies all of the versatile features of the Q series, but with the capability of supporting a standard ATX motherboard. With the same exterior dimensions as the MasterBox Q300L, support for a standard ATX motherboard in the Q500L was made possible by positioning the PSU in the front of the chassis instead of the base. The movable I/O panel and support for vertical or horizontal orientations, seen across the entire Q series, are also featured on the MasterBox Q500L. With the exterior fully perforated, and covered by a magnetic dust filter, the Q500L offers plenty of airflow for various cooling configurations.

ASRock today launched the X399 Phantom Gaming 6, its latest addition to the popular Phantom Gaming series for AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors. Note that this board only supports up to 16-core Threadripper models, the 24-core and 32-core Threadripper WX series are not supported. The Phantom Gaming features premium components (power delivery is kept clean and stable with Digital PWM, 8 Power Phase & Dr. MOS)and a relatively subdued, black-gray-red design - and like most hardware these days, it's gamer-oriented and branded. 2.5 Gbps Ethernet is one of the key features as ASRock paints it, and there is a grand total of 3x Ultra M.2 connectors and a full-length 22110 (110 mm) slot with full-coverage heatsink.

Here are some of the first pictures of ASRock Radeon RX 590 Phantom Gaming graphics card, based on AMD's upcoming "Polaris 30" silicon, which is an optical shrink of the "Polaris 20" silicon to 12 nm FinFET process, letting AMD and its partners increase GPU clock speeds. The RX 590 Phantom Gaming features a similar board design to the RX 580 Phantom Gaming X, with subtle design changes to its cooler shroud. The card still draws power from only a single 8-pin PCIe power connector. The VideoCardz article with these pictures doesn't mention clock-speeds, although going by trends, the RX 590 could be clocked well above 1500 MHz out of the box, compared to 1445 MHz of the RX 580 Phantom Gaming X in "OC mode."

ASRock today announced their Taichi family of Z390 motherboards. The new Taichi motherboards (whose branding has garnered somewhat of a cult following among PC component enthusiasts due to their build-quality and reliability) are being placed in the top of the heap for ASRock's Z390 push.

The 8th and 9th Gen supporting motherboards feature the same 12-phase power delivery design for outstanding power delivery, as well as some other features such as an integrated M.2 shield and ASRock's Polychrome RGB lighting solution. Hyper BCLK Engine II also makes an appearance on both motherboards, for higher overclocking stability and capabilities. Other added features include ASRock's Purity Sound 4 with Realtek's ALC1220 audio codec. The Taichi Ultimate, however, ups the ante by delivering an Aquantia Ethernet solution (AQtion) with 10 Gbps throughput for the ultimate experience - though you'll need to make sure your infrastructure supports these speeds, and that you have a Cat6 Ethernet cable handy.

When ASRock teased something new from their new Phantom Gaming brand on social media with a photo that said 2.5x fast, people were quick to speculate this was referring to an AMD Radeon GPU. After all, the Phantom Gaming brand came about very recently with ASRock's debut as an AMD AIB (add-in board) partners for Radeon GPUs, with TechPowerUp giving a review treatment to one that you can read here. Was Vega holding back with some sandbags? Or was it perhaps the rumored Polaris GPU?

As it turned out today, ASRock was instead teasing about motherboards joining the Phantom Gaming brand and the "2.5x fast" instead was referring to these board having an integrated 2.5 Gigabit onboard LAN port, as opposed to the 1 GigE ports on most enthusiast motherboards today. Suffice to say that led to disappointment for many owing to this misunderstanding, but this is still news in that ASRock has deemed the importance of having a higher-tier brand that can be marketed as a competitor to the ASUS ROG, Gigabyte Aorus and more. This motherboard may end up not being AMD-exclusive either, as we do not expect a prosumer socket from AMD until next year, and the timing suggests it may well be an Intel z390 socket board instead. The teaser video is embedded below, although there is not much else to glean from it at this point.

Cryptocurrency mining rig motherboards have, until now, mostly been based on the Intel platform because Intel chipsets put out more PCIe lanes than AMD ones, and because Intel's sub-$100 Pentium/Celeron chips don't have narrower PCIe connectivity from the CPU. ASRock apparently has a lot of unsold AMD X370 chipset inventory, and with the possible introduction of sub-$100 Ryzen chips that have 28 PCIe lanes from the CPU, a use-case has emerged for a mining motherboard based on this platform. We hence have the X370 Pro BTC+. The board features an AM4 socket, with out of the box support for "Pinnacle Ridge" processors. The socket is wired to just one DDR4 DIMM slot, but all eight PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots.

The topmost x16 slot runs at electrical gen 3.0 x4, while the remaining seven slots are gen 3.0 x1, taking advantage of PCIe segmentation of the X370 platform. The board draws power from three 24-pin ATX, 8+4 pin EPS, and a number of Molex outputs, although most of these power connectors are optional. A point to note here is that the D-sub/HDMI display outputs only work if an A-series "Bristol Ridge" or Ryzen "Raven Ridge" APU is used (which have fewer PCIe lanes), so you're bound to take display output from one of the 8 graphics cards. A 1 GbE interface and two USB 3.0 ports make for the rest of it.

Via its support pages, AsRock has spilled the beans on at least five of their upcoming motherboards based on Intel's upcoming Z390 chipset in their Live Update & App services. The naming scheme of these motherboards is in-line with previous ASRock lineups, and there shouldn't be any confusion as to their tiering. The motherboards hence confirmed are the Z390 Extreme4, Z390 Pro4, Z390 Taichi, Z390 Taichi Ultimate, and the Z390M Pro4.

If there's something we hardware enthusiasts know is this: there's a lot of information - and confirmation - on a single sticker, in a single product. Fresh out of a leak from Videocardz, ASRock have seemingly confirmed two expectations (we can't really call them rumours by now). First, that there are actually 8-core Intel CPUs incoming, looking to hold the fort against AMD's Ryzen 2000 series and Zen 2 CPUs when they launch. Second, that these 8-core CPUs won't be exclusive to the Z370... ehrm... Z390 chipset Intel will launch alongside its 9th Gen processors. So, users will (apparently; be mindful of your sodium chloride, people) be able to pair a cheap H310 motherboard and an expensive Intel 8-core CPU - seems like loads of system configuration war fun from now on, doesn't it?

A variety of motherboards based on Intel Z370 Express chipset began receiving the first BIOS updates that add compatibility with upcoming Intel 8-core processors. The updates are flagged "beta" by the manufacturers. Given that only Z370 (and not other 300-series chipset models) have such updates, it's possible that Intel could restrict the first socket LGA1151 8-core processor SKUs (which could be unlocked "K" variants with higher TDP) to Z370 chipset, as the chipset has stronger VRM requirements than other chipset models that don't support CPU overclocking.

To support the upcoming processors, the BIOS needs to include the latest 06EC microcode revision. Various motherboard manufacturers, such as ASUS, ASRock, and MSI, have released beta BIOS updates with this microcode, as confirmed in AMI Aptio inspection tool screenshots. The 06EC microcode, detailed in this slide-deck from Intel, hardens the machine against newer variants of the "Spectre" vulnerability. Older revisions of this document also mentioned support for Intel Core "9000 series" processors, before Intel scampered to redact it.

At the XFastest Network event in Japan, ASRock shared some slides detailing its overall graphics card strategy up to February 2019. There are some interesting bits of information that can be gleaned/extrapolated from it. One bit of information that seems to be set in stone is the introduction, come August, of revised versions of some graphics cards (namely, the RX 570 and RX 580 models) under the MK2 marketing - likely revised in their cooling apparatus. That the RX Vega versions of ASRock graphics cards won't be receiving such a revision seems clear as well: there's no reason for the company to withhold information on that. The others, however, are more prone to speculation.

First of, the fact that ASRock still only lists AMD graphics cards likely means the company will remain an exclusively AMD-aligned AIB. Secondly, the absence of any new AMD graphics cards in the ASRock lineup, while noteworthy and prone to speculation, doesn't really say much. AMD certainly wouldn't look lovingly towards ASRock should they out information on a new RX600 series or other AMD products ahead of time. Likewise, ASRock wouldn't want publicity on a new deal with NVIDIA to hit the roads ahead of time. As such, let's just stay with the MK2 graphics cards and ASRock's lineup - and codification for its products, which they kindly shared during the event.

ASRock rolled out its first Radeon RX Vega series graphics cards under its Phantom Gaming series. These cards stick to AMD reference board design, and aren't much to talk about. The ASRock RX Vega 56 Phantom Gaming X sticks to reference clock speeds of 1156-1471 MHz core and 800 MHz memory; while the RX Vega 64 ticks at 1247-1546 MHz core, and 945 MHz memory. Both cards draw power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors; display outputs include three DisplayPorts and an HDMI. ASRock, which is the latest company to extend its product portfolio to graphics cards, has announced that they will be offering their AMD Phantom series of graphics cards in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle-East and Africa) starting July 1st. The roll-out should see the Polaris-based graphics cards being introduced first, since product codes for the Vega variants haven't been made known yet. With demand from miners relatively cooled with lower (and lowering still) cryptocurrency values, perhaps ASRock has decided that stock of their Phantom series is enough now to fulfill orders from these additional regions.

ASRock has finally launched one of their more interesting X470 solutions, the X470 Fatal1ty Gaming ITX/ac motherboard. The specs for this board are already well known to us, but I'd like to point out the graphical DisplayPort output, a feature seldom seen in other products, which is there to facilitate users some FreeSync shennanigans on their Zen APU.

This motherboard crams all of the essentials for a great system (and great looking in its all black color scheme) as it is, though of course, some expandability options are absent due to PCB real-estate limitations. But user looking for a no-frills, ITX motherboard with built-in AC wi-fi support may not need to look anywhere else. No pricing announcement yet, but allowing ourselves to speculate based on past ASRock products and ASUS' own ROG Strix X470-I Gaming, probably places this motherboard in the $200 range. These should start creeping in on store inventories soon - though a warning on ASRock's website saying this model may not be available worldwide sets a feeling of unease.
