With Intel's new socket LGA-1156 Core i5, Core i7 lines of processors, and compatible motherboards barely weeks away, memory specialist Corsair is readying a few DDR3 dual-channel memory kits to grace the occasion, and possibly coincide with the launch. Featuring in the XMS3 series, the four kits come in speeds of DDR3-1333 and DDR3-1600, with capacities of 2x 4GB (8 GB) and 2x 2GB (4 GB). Whether these kits carry some kind of special branding, is not known, though being JEDEC standards compliant, the memory may work on most DDR3-supportive motherboards. Some of these kits feature Corsair's high-density, 4 GB modules. Listed below are the four SKUs:

The newest Flash Voyager GT is based upon a revolutionary design that employs a unique dual-controller architecture to achieve SLC-levels of performance using MLC NAND flash memory. The 128GB Flash Voyager GT is able to achieve read speeds of up to 32MB/sec and write speeds of up to 25.6MB/sec, with the limiting factor effectively being the speed of the USB 2.0 bus and operating system overhead.

Corsair Labs recently conducted testing to determine whether the use of high-performance DDR3 memory for Core i7 platforms also requires the use of more effective CPU cooling products.

The results clearly show that using high-performance memory results in increased CPU temperatures, due to the higher CPU VTT voltages and Uncore clock speeds required by the IMC (Integrated Memory Controller) in the Core i7 processor. The average load temperature of a Core i7-920 processor cooled by the Intel HSF (heatsink and fan) was 11 degrees C higher when utilizing 2000MHz C8 Dominator GT memory compared to 1333MHz DDR3 memory. The same PC cooled using the Corsair H50 CPU Cooler maintained average CPU core temperatures up to 24 degrees C lower than the stock Intel HSF, and was able to stably cool an overclocked CPU while also maintaining a 2000MHz DDR3 memory frequency.

I'm afraid I have to serve some bad news for owners of the expensive Corsair Dominator GT memories. Corsair today informed the community that they will temporarily stop selling top of the line Dominator GT DDR3 modules due to an issue with the Elpida chips used in them. The DDR3-2000 CAS 7 Elpida chips also called "Hyper" RAMs are likely to fail for an yet unknown reason. Corsair says the fail ratio is very small, but unacceptable to them so they are pulling all affected models from the market until the problem is solved. Corsair will continue to support owners of the already sold modules.

We have seen a number of reports across various forums about failures of modules (from Corsair as well as from other memory manufacturers) built with Elpida "Hyper" RAMs. Through lab testing, we have now been able to reproduce similar failures. We are continuing to test to determine the cause of these failures. Note that although a relatively small percentage of "Hyper" ICs appear to be affected, the rate of failure is not acceptable to Corsair or to our customers. Due to these failures, we will no longer sell Hyper-based modules until the issue can be resolved. We have also have asked our retailers to return any modules they currently have on their shelves. Products impacted include TW3X4G1600C6GTF, TR3X6G1866C7GTF, TR3X6G2000C8GTF, TR3X3G2000C7GTF, and TR3X6G2000C7GTF. We are working on enhancing our manufacturing and testing process to be able to offer these parts again as soon as possible. Corsair's recently announced HX750W and HX850W modular power supply units have bagged the elusive 80 Plus Gold efficiency rating, a title enjoyed only by a few high-end enterprise-grade PSUs. To qualify for this rating, a PSU must provide an output efficiency of at least 87% at 20% load, 90% at 50% load, and 87% at 100% load. At these levels of load, the efficiency of HX750W was measured 88.04%, 90.02%, and 87.04% respectively, while those of the HX850W were 89.14%, 90.38%, and 87.06%. These are Corsair's first PSUs to get the 80 Plus Gold rating, above the 80 Plus Silver which were expected of them, when the two were announced.

Our friends at HEXUS.net today posted pictures of Corsair's latest watercooling solution for computer processors. The Corsair Hydro H50 is essentially an Asetek LCLC OEM unit rebranded and sold under the Corsair trademark, but with one change - redesigned copper cold plate. The system itegrates the pump in the waterblock and adds a 120 mm radiator to the loop to cool the circulating water. Corsair will ship the system completely assembled, and ready to use for 50,000 hours without maintenance. Thanks to the redesigned base of the waterblock, Hydro H50 is compatible with Intel LGA775 and LGA1366 sockets. Owners of Socket AM2 and AM3 machines can ask for a free mounting bracket directly from Corsair. The cooler is expected to arrive later this month and cost around $82.

Corsair, announced today that Corsair Labs has set the world record for DDR3 frequency on a Core i7 system. Corsair Labs achieved an astounding speed of DDR3-2533MHz with the aggressive memory timings of 7-8-7-20 using a triple-channel 6GB memory kit. This new world record, verified and validated by CPU-Z, the industry-standard tool for verifying overclocking results, is the first time this frequency has been achieved on a Core i7 system with 6GB of memory using three modules; most world record attempts use only a single 1GB module. Corsair Labs engineers used the award-winning Dominator GT 2000C7 memory with eVGA's X58 3X SLI Classified motherboard to shatter the world record for memory frequency. Memory (and power supply) specialist Corsair is dressing up a new 4-module DDR2-800 kit, consisting of four 4 GB modules (16 GB in all). Carrying the model number QUAD2X16GB-6400, this kit uses a new heatspreader design Corsair has been using lately. The modules are screened for high-reliability. At 800 MHz, this kit may seem like a late-Kate into the market, but might use its module density as a selling-point. Corsair seeks an estimated 83,000 Yen (US $867?) for this kit. We admit, the price looks on the higher side, but are awaiting clarity on May 16, when the company officially announces it.

Following a recent exposé of the modular HX750W, another PSU from Corsair caught us by surprise: the HX850W. Its standard features include compliance with ATX12V v2.3 and EPS12V 2.91 standards, double forward switching circuitry that offers stellar efficiency of up to 90%, 105 °C industrial-grade capacitors, and flat-modular cables. This model also fills that little gap that existed between the HX750W and HX1000W, by offering nearly the same features as its cousin from the TX series (TX850W), with the advantage of modularity. TechConnect Magazine also disclosed its price to be £140 (around US $210) in the UK.

Memory specialist turned PSU specialist Corsair, has a new PSU up its sleeves. The Corsair HX750W modular PSU is an attempt by the company to fill the gap between the HX620W and the high-end HX1000W, in its HX series, a large one to begin with. There is a definite need for such a PSU since it ups the count of PCI-Express power cables from the PSU, over the relatively paltry two that HX620W offers. Cable modularity is enhanced with the flat-cables the company has been using. With the "750W" marking, we are to assume that is the continuous power rating, as with every other Corsair PSU. The model may fall in league with other ones by the manufacturer to come with a 5-year warranty. It is also indicated that the PSU will come with an 80 Plus efficiency rating. This PSU comes after the company's recent launch of the HX450W.

We are talking about Corsair's ulta-fast 256 GB solid-state drive that will be out "sometime in the not too distant future". This new 256 GB model features updated controller from Samsung (Samsung S3C29RBB01-YK40), 64 MB of on-board cache and thus must offer significantly increased performance. The official product name will be Corsair P256. The drive will feature SATA 3.0Gb/s interface, a heavy-duty aluminum enclosure, average read speeds of over 200 MB/s, average write speeds of 169.1 MB/s, 0.1ms random access time, and a 248.2 MB/s burst speed. The Corsair P256 is expected to cost around $749.

Corsair is showing off their first case design, a full tower unit with an aluminum front and steel structure. It has a unique layout as well as a lot of one of a kind features. The case allowes for perfect cable management, will be able to fit a triple radiator, has four hot-swap SATA bays including the drive trays and a unique cooling layout. The case should be availble in Q2 for around 300 €. Corsair is also planning a smaller version of the case.Then there is a small new product, which is basically a USB dock, which comes with a backup button and the appropriate software. It can be used with any flash drive, but Corsair has designed it specifically for their own units.

Starting off as an ambitious memory products manufacturer in a highly competitive market, Corsair diversified its product lineup at a great pace: liquid cooling, SSDs, power supplies and now PC cases. That's right, Corsair is here to take on market heavyweights in the high-end PC case category, such as SilverStone, Lian Li, and Antec. This is suggested by a photoshoot of an upcoming Corsair PC case, sourced by Hexus.net, which shows a black, compatmentalized, aluminum full-ATX tower.

The pictures show the case to sport a typical design when it comes to placing the various components in the case, that till you find out that a front-door opens up the hard-drive enclosure to give the case hot-swap capabilities. Corsair's yet to be named case might get the spotlight at CeBIT.
