LG Launches 45-inch Ultra Wide OLED Monitor for Gaming

If LG's 27-inch 1440p OLED monitor wasn't your cup of tea, the company has launched a second UltraGear branded gaming OLED monitor with an entirely different form factor. The UltraGear 45GR95QE-B as it's known as, is a 45-inch ultra wide monitor with a 3440 x 1440 pixel resolution, giving it an aspect ratio of 21:9. As with the 27-inch 27GR95QE-B, we're looking at a 240 Hz refresh rate here and the same 0.03 ms GtG response time and the ability to display up to 1.07 billion colours. However, this is where the similarities end, as the 45GR95QE-B's massive panel means that LG made it a curved display and it's very curved at 800R. Despite its enormous size, it has a pixel pitch of a mere 84 PPI, which is very low, especially as a normal pixel pitch for a 3440 x 1440 display is somewhere around 110 PPI on a 34-inch display, which places this closer to a 27-inch 1080p display.

The monitor has two HDMI and one DP input, as well as one upstreams and two downstreams USB 3.0 ports. It also has an S/PDIF out, a headphone jack with DTS HP:X support and a barrel plug for an external 19.5 Volt power brick. LG doesn't provide a typical power consumption, but the power brick can deliver 210 Watts. It also comes with a remote, for changing the settings. Other features include VRR, FreeSync Premium and G-Sync Compatible support. It also has the same gaming features as LG's other UltraGear monitors. The supplied stand supports tilt, height and swivel adjustments. For those considering this massive display, which measures almost a metre wide, make sure your desk can handle the weight, as it comes in at almost 11 kg. LG's asking price for this beast of a monitor isn't for those with a tight budget, as it's a rather steep US$1,699.99.

LG Launches the UltraGear OLED With 240 Hz Refresh Rate

The first flat OLED gaming monitor is here and it's unsurprisingly from LG and part of its UltraGear range of gaming products and goes under the model name 27GR95QE-B. Although it's being touted as a 27-inch display, the screen size is only 26.5-inches, which is a bit unusual. The resolution is 2560 x 1440, with a pixel pitch of 110.8 PPI and the refresh rate goes up to 240 Hz. The OLED panel is capable of delivering 1.07 billion colours and delivers a colour gamut of 98.5 percent of the DCI-P3 standard. LG claims the display has a GtG response time of 0.03 ms which is so far unheard of on a consumer display. LG doesn't supply a brightness rating, nor does the UltraGear OLED appear to have any kind of HDR certification, but supports HDR10, although considering it's an OLED panel, this shouldn't be much of a concern.

There's support for FreeSync Premium and VRR, with the display being G-Sync compatible as well. Other gaming related features include the typical things you'd find on most gaming displays today, such as an FPS counter, a built in crosshair and of course some RGB lighting features. Connectivity wise the UltraGear OLED comes with two unspecified HDMI ports and one unspecified DisplayPort input, as well as one upstreams USB 3.0 port (Type-B) and two downstreams USB 3.0 ports (Type-A). The monitor also has an S/PDIF out and a headset jack, which suggests that it does audio over USB. Finally there's a barrel plug for the 19 V power brick. The display also has support for DTS HP:X where HP stands for headphones, but there are no built in speakers. The stand supports tilt, height, swivel and pivot adjustments and can be adjusted up to 11 cm in height. LG is asking US$999.99 for the UltraGear OLED, which might be a bit more than what most people would be willing to pay for it, but it's at least a first step towards a range of new OLED gaming monitors.

AOC's Chic V5 Series Now Expanded with Webcam-equipped USB-C Monitors

Display specialist AOC announces three new multi-functional monitors from its V5 series aimed at home office users and students just in time before the next term. The triple addition in three sizes (24"/60.4 cm 24V5CW, 27"/68.6 cm Q27V5CW and the 34"/86.4 cm ultrawide CU34V5CW) features 2 MP built-in webcams with Windows Hello support for easy login and increased security, thus fulfilling today's requirements for video calls and meetings. The 3-sides borderless V5 models are thin displays with a versatile USB-C connection, offering 65 W Power Delivery to charge and power laptops or tablets with a single cable while transferring the display signal.

Unlike bulky, uninspiring monitors, the design of the V5 series brings a lightweight, contemporary look to modern desks and home offices. They feature a 3-sides borderless design with a narrow chin at the bottom bezel, a thin base (12.1 mm), and an ergonomic, height-adjustable stand: the V5 series does not compromise the chic interior design of any living spaces.

Alienware Announces 24.5-Inch 1080p 360 Hz and 27-Inch 1440p 280 Hz Monitors

Dell has launched a pair of new gaming focused displays under its Alienware badge and both are high refresh rate monitors. The 25-inch (or rather 24.5-inch) model goes under the model name AW2523HF and has a 1080p panel with a 360 Hz refresh rate. It supports Freesync Premium and it also supports VESA AdaptiveSync. It's said to have a 400 nits peak brightness fast IPS panel that has a colour gamut that covers 99 percent of the sRGB spectrum. Inputs consist of one DP 1.4 and two HDMI 2.0 ports, as well as a USB-B 3.0 input and four USB-A 3.0 outputs

The 27-inch model is called the AW2723DF and it sports 1440p resolution and here we're looking at a fast nano IPS panel that has a native 240 Hz refresh rate, but it can be pushed up to 280 Hz using an overclocking option. It supports FreeSync Premium, G-sync Compatible and AdaptiveSync, so here all your bases are covered regardless of which GPU you hook it up to. It's also an HDR 600 display with a typical peak brightness of 450 cd/m² and it has a wider colour gamut that supports 95 percent of the DCI-P3 spectrum. This is still an edge lit display, so don't expect amazing HDR performance. Connectivity is the same as for the AW2523HF, although it's said to support Picture-by-Picture and Picture-in-Picture, which the 25-inch model apparently doesn't. The AW2523HF will be available in early September for $450, while the AW2723DF will launch in early October for $650.

AOC Announces the V5 Series Monitors with USB-C Connectivity

Display specialist AOC proudly announces the new V5 series monitors, perfect for home users or students wanting to upgrade their home office screen in style: The 3-sides borderless V5 models offer a thin, sleek display with a minimal footprint and advanced features such as USB-C connectivity with 65 W Power Delivery. Featuring Full HD and QHD resolutions and ranging from 24"/60.4 cm (24V5C, 24V5CE) to 27"/68.6 cm (27V5C, 27V5CE, Q27V5C) as well as all the way up to 31.5"/80 cm Q32V5CE. The first six models of the V5 series will be available from July 2022.

In a world where work from home practices are here to stay, many have accepted that working with a limited laptop screen is neither healthy nor comfortable. Which has made a dedicated workspace with a monitor and keyboard/mouse a staple in many homes. But a stylish home environment suffers from a bulky monitor and cable clutter - compromising any interior design and wellbeing aspects.

LG Launches Curved 49-inch 5120x1440 Display with 144 Hz Refresh Rate

For those looking for a more sizable display, LG has just released the 49WQ95C-W, which is a curved 49-inch dual QHD Nano IPS based monitor with a 144 Hz refresh rate. It's part of LG's UltraWide series of monitors rather than its UltraGear series, but it should still be suitable for gaming, even though that isn't its primary target market. There's support for FreeSync Premium Pro and the display is also G-Sync compatible, although LG doesn't provide a refresh rate range, only the upper refresh rate of 144 Hz. The response time is 5 ms GtG. LG has also thrown in some of its more gamer focused features such as dynamic action sync which reduces input lag, black stabilizer and a crosshair function.

The 32:9 panel has a colour gamut that meets 98 percent of the DCI-P3 standard, a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a typical brightness of 400 cd/m². The panel is DisplayHDR 400 certified and LG claims the 49WQ95C-W is factory colour calibrated. Connectivity consists of two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DP 1.4, as well as a USB Type-C port that also supports 90 W power delivery. For some odd reason, LG only added a USB 2.0 Type-B upstreams port, yet there are two USB Type-A 3.0 downstreams ports. The monitor also has a headphone jack, as well as a pair of 10 W speakers built in. The stand supports height adjustment, as well as tilt and swivel. LG didn't provide any official pricing.

ASRock is Expected to Launch Multiple Gaming Monitors

Several new ASRock products have passed through the KCC, which is the Korean equivalent of the FCC and normally this would be a new motherboard or maybe some small form factor system, but surprisingly enough, we're looking at gaming monitors. The leak comes courtesy of @momomo_us who's dug up a lot of juicy details on two of the models, whereas we only know the basic specs for the other models. First up, we have the PG34WQ15R, which is a 34-inch curved VA display with a 3440x1440 resolution. It supports FreeSync Premium and has a refresh rate range of 48 to 165 Hz over DisplayPort and 48-100 Hz over HDMI, which seems to be an HDMI 1.4 limitation. The next model is the PG27FF, which is a regular 1080p IPS display that also supports FreeSync Premium, here with a refresh rate range of 48 to 165 Hz over both DP and HDMI. There appears to be multiple sub SKUs of this model, but all start with PG27F.

Then we have the PG32QF, which should be a flat 32-inch display, with unknown specs, but the Q in the model name suggests that it's a 1440p monitor. Finally we have the PG42U, where the U in the model name suggests it's a 4K 42-inch display. The stand looks nearly identical to the one ASUS uses for its ROG Strix XG43UQ 4K screen and the specs are likely to be quite similar too, which means we might see support for 144 Hz or higher refresh rates. All four displays are manufactured by TPV Technology, which produces its own monitors under the AOC, Envision and Philips brands. It's unknown when these new monitors from ASRock will launch, but considering they've passed through certification, it's highly likely that they'll turn up sometime later this year.

Canvas invites gamers to explore their favorite game worlds in vivid detail while enjoying smooth and responsive performance. Two monitors will be exclusively available from NZXT: The Canvas 27QHD, and 32QHD Curved. They nicely complement an existing PC setup with the choice to ship with a compact stand or VESA mount, and a bezel-less design for an edge-to-edge image. Canvas monitors feature NZXT CAM support, which allows users to set up custom profile settings to adjust visualization settings based on time of day and type of game.

Dell Launches 34-inch Curved USB-C Monitor

Dell has been on something of a roll when it comes to launching new monitor models this year and its latest addition is an office focused curved 34-inch model with a 3440x1440 resolution. The S3423DWC as the model is called, sports a VA panel with a 300 cd/m² brightness, a 3000:1 contrast ratio and a colour gamut capable of 99 percent of the sRGB colour space. Although it's an office focused display, the good news here is that it has 100 Hz refresh rate and a 4 ms response time, which is quite unusual for its target market. AMD FreeSync is also supported, although there's no mention of the frequency range.

Connectivity-wise the main selling point is its single USB-C port that also has support for DP 1.4 Alt Mode as well as USB PD up to 65 W. Furthermore it has two HDMI 2.0 ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-B input and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, of which one can deliver 10 W of power for charging. Thanks to the two USB inputs, the display can function as a KVM and it also supports Picture-by-Picture and Picture-in-Picture when more than one input is being used. Dell also integrated a pair of 5 W speakers, but it seems like audio input is only via HDMI or USB, as the 3.5 mm jack on the rear of the display is apparently only for audio output. The stand is height adjustable, but due to this being an ultra-widescreen display, it can't be rotated. Dell claims that the plastic used contains at least 25 percent recycled materials. The S3423DWC is available in the APAC region now, although the US and European retail price should be around US$/€689 once it launches there.
