G.SKILL Showcases Extreme DDR4 Memory Kits up to DDR4-5066MHz at Computex 2018

(Editor's Note: We took some risks in getting these pictures for you guys at COMPUTEX, hitting the show floor as we did, so enjoy them. G.SKILL took the opportunity to showcase a series of ultra-high speed DDR4 kits on various platforms at Computex 2018. Their 5066 MHz, dual-channel kit really is the highest-performing memory on display, but there are some notorious trade-offs, as there would obviously need to be - namely, when it comes to timings. That said, it remains a very impressive showing that helps cement G.Skill's status as one of the best memory companies currently in business.)

DDR4-5066MHz 2x8GB -The Highest Frequency in Dual Channel Memory Configuration
Chasing after the fastest possible memory speed, G.SKILL once again breaks the limits and presents the Trident Z RGB DDR4-5066MHz extreme dual-channel kit built with Samsung 8Gb ICs, which is the highest frequency dual-channel memory on live demo display at Computex 2018. This extremely high memory speed live demo system is built with the latest Intel Core i7-8700K processor and MSI Z370I Gaming PRO CARBON AC motherboard.

G.Skill Unveils RipJaws KM670 and KM660 RGB Tenkeyless Keyboards

G.Skill unveiled the RipJaws KM670 RGB and KM660 RGB tenkeyless (87-key) mechanical gaming keyboards. While these are gaming-grade, they're being targeted at business users owing to their durability. The KM660 is more attention-grabbing, in that it has not just white keycaps, but also a translucent white silicone diffuser making up the top bezel, so its keys not only put up a light-show through the keycaps, but also leave behind a halo in the surrounding bezel.

The KM670 RGB, on the other hand, has a more sober 2-tone design, with a silvery aluminium bezel, black keycaps, and a piano black accent running the perimeter of the bezel. Under the hoods of both are Cherry MX RGB switches (various flavors available), and electronics with full NKRO (n-key rollover), anti-ghosting, onboard macro storage, and a detachable fiber sleeved USB cable.

Please see below for a complete list of the new specifications.

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X and Ryzen 5 2600X Overclock to 5.88 GHz

PC enthusiast "TSAIK" with access to AMD Ryzen 7 2700X and Ryzen 5 2600X chips put them through rigorous overclocking to achieve speeds as high as 5.88 GHz on both, with all cores enabled, demonstrating the improved overclocking headroom AMD achieved by switching to the newer 12 nm process. The 2700X achieved 5884 MHz with a 58.25X multiplier on a 101.02 MHz base clock, and a scorching 1.76V core voltage. The 2600X, on the other hand, reached 5882 MHz riding on the same 58.25X multiplier with 101 MHz base clock, and a slightly higher 1.768V. Both chips have all their cores and SMT enabled. The 2700X was overclocked on the MSI X470 Gaming M7 AC, while an MSI X470 Gaming Plus powered the 2600X overclock. A single 8 GB G.Skill Trident-Z DDR4 module was used on both feats. As expected, a liquid nitrogen evaporator was used on both chips.

G.Skill Readies a Sniper X Memory Variant Targeted at AMD "Pinnacle Ridge"

G.Skill is giving final touches to a Sniper X memory kit that could be the company's go-to product for AMD Ryzen 2000-series "Pinnacle Ridge" processors, in the same way as the company's Flare X DDR4-3200 memory kits gained popularity among AMD Ryzen-based gaming PC builders. Flare X will still very much be compatible with "Pinnacle Ridge," but the Sniper X kit G.Skill has in store for the new processor, pushes up the memory speeds, taking advantage of increased memory clock limits of the new chips.

The new "Pinnacle Ridge" friendly G.Skill Sniper X kit will bear the model number F4-3400C16D-16GSXW. As you might tell from its model number, it is a DDR4-3400 MHz memory kit, which comes in 16 GB (2x 8 GB) capacity, and has a CAS latency of 16T. It ticks at 3400 MHz with 16-16-16-36 timings, and a DRAM voltage of 1.35V. The rest of the Sniper X series, announced in January, will come in speeds of up to 3600 MHz. AMD Ryzen 2000-series "Pinnacle Ridge" processors are expected to feature higher maximum memory clock speeds.

Intel Core i9 7900X Overclocked to 6.01 GHz Under LN2 - Beats HWBOT World Record

HWBOT user sofos1990 took an Intel Core i9 CPU to party like it was the nineties, straddling it under a LN2 cooling chamber to achieve the enormous 6.01 GHz overclocked frequency (82.3% over stock clocks). The achieved score, at 12189.52 points, settles this run as the highest-scoring 10-core score ever, and also becomes the highest single-processor system score ever achieved in the platform. This was done under an extremely crispy 1.6 V processor vCore, though, so it definitely wasn't for the faint of heart.

New DDR4 Record on AMD Ryzen Platform: DDR4-4079.2 MHz

A new DDR4 overclocking record was achieved by Australian overclocker "newlife", breathing new life towards Ryzen's memory frequency support. Don't just count your fireworks right now, though: while impressive the result came with some caveats in the form of the user's Ryzen 5 1400 CPU: it was down-locked to a paltry, performance-murdering 800 MHz.

After shipping with what could be considered by some as broken DDR4 memory support, AMD's Ryzen platform has in the meantime received the proper amount of care such a pivoting product for AMD should. A series of AGESA updates which improved AMD's performance in gaming, as well as DDR4 memory support have been under distribution since the platform's launch, and those updates have surely worked towards achieving this record today. The score was achieved with a single 8 GB G.Skill Trident Z E-die memory kit, which is usually rated for 3600 MHz frequencies (F4-3600C17-4GTZ), using 18-20-20-58-93-1 timings. This module was seated on a GIGABYTE AORUS AX370-Gaming K7 motherboard (F4 BIOS).
