NVIDIA Reflex is a new innovation designed to minimize input latency with competitive e-sports games. When it comes out later this month with patches to popular e-sports titles such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Valorant, along with a GeForce driver update, the feature could improve input latencies even without any specialized hardware. Input latency is defined as the time it takes for a user input (such as a mouse click) in a game, to reflect as output on the screen, or the time it takes for your mouse click to register as a gunshot in an online shooter, and appear on-screen. The feature is compatible with any NVIDIA GeForce GPU, GTX 900 series or later.

NVIDIA briefly detailed how this works. On the software side, the NVIDIA driver co-operates with a compatible game engine to optimize the game's 3D rendering pipeline. This is accomplished by dynamically reducing the rendering queue, so fewer frames are queued up for the GPU to render. NVIDIA claims that the technology can also keep the GPU perfectly in sync with the CPU (1:1 render queue), reducing the "back-pressure" on the GPU, letting the game sample mouse input at the last possible moment. NVIDIA is releasing Reflex to gamers as GeForce driver updates, and to game developers as the Reflex SDK. This allows them to integrate the technology with their game engine, providing a toggle for the technology, and also put out in-game performance metrics.

ASUS today announced the ROG PG259QN monitor, a 24,5" monitor featuring a blazing fast 360 Hz refresh rates paired with a 1 ms response time. Of course, driving that refresh rate means that the monitor itself only offers 1080p resolution - albeit it does so using an IPS panel. Color-accuracy isn't reported as of yet, though, so save your money, at least for now, if you're also looking at color-critical applications. But the defining purpose for this monitor is for it to be one of the best solutions for twitch gaming scenarios. According to an NVIDIA-led study, gamers with a 360 Hz monitor improved their K/D ratio by 4% compared to using a "mere" 240 Hz solution, so there's that. The addition of a G-Sync module, according to ASUS, allows the PG259QN to have the best smoothness of any gaming monitor, bar none.

The ROG PG259QN supports ASUS AURA Sync, slim bezels, tilt, pivot, height, and swivel adjustments. I/O is guaranteed by 1x DisplayPort 1.4 cable and 1x HDMI 2.0 port, alongside 1x 3.5 mm headset jack and 1x USB 3.0 pass-through port, as well. No word on pricing at time of writing.

LG today rolled out the 32UN650-W, a 31.5-inch monitor targeted general use, including gaming. Based on an LG Display IPS panel, the monitor offers 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) resolution, 95% DCI-P3 wide color gamut, 1.07 billion colors (10 bpc), and HDR10. On the gaming side of things, you get AMD FreeSync support, a black stabilizing function, and dynamic action sync. For use in long hours, the monitor offers blue light reduction, and flicker-free brightness adjustment. Other vital panel specs include 5 ms (GTG) response time, 178°/178° viewing angles, 350 cd/m² maximum brightness, 1000:1 static contrast ratio. The monitor takes in DisplayPort 1.2a and HDMI connectors. 5 W stereo speakers make for the rest of it. Availability is slated for the last week of August, 2020.

Mountain, creator of innovative, premium peripherals with user-centric design to enable gamers to perform at their best, introduces its first ever gaming mouse, the light-weight Makalu 67, featuring PixArt's new flagship PMW3370 sensor with up to 19,000 DPI, 1-2 mm lift-off-distance and 0.5% error rate, significantly outperforming its predecessor 3389.

With only 67 g of weight, Makalu 67 offers a mid-to-large sized gaming mouse at the weight level of much smaller gaming mice, building upon a unique rib cage design that trims unnecessary weight while offering a rigid structure with maximum comfort. This has been achieved without sacrificing structural integrity. Makalu 67 is built to withstand 5 kg of force to avoid accidental button actuations by grabbing the body too tightly if things get a little heated.

MSI today released the Optix G241V, a 23.8-inch gaming monitor targeted at the e-sports segment. This monitor is a value variant of the Optix G241 the company announced in May, with a lower refresh rate on offer. Featuring an IPS panel with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution, the G241V offers 75 Hz refresh rate, 4 ms (GTG) response time, and support for AMD FreeSync technology. You get much of MSI's proprietary display tech, including "Night Vision," a dark area brightener, game presets (display settings specific to game genres); and likes of flicker reduction and low blue-light. Other vital panel specs include 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, 100000000:1 DCR, 178°/178° viewing angles, anti-glare surface treatment, and 81.2% / 102.4% coverage of the DCI-P3 and sRGB palettes. The company didn't reveal pricing.

ASUS at its Asia ROG event announced a new monitor, approaching stores and shores (eventually). The ROG Swift PG329Q is being launched with a "Super Kill" marketing line, which aims to showcase just how impressive this monitor will be in aiding users' gaming capabilities. The ROG Swift PG329Q features a 32" "Fast IPS" panel - fast IPS here meaning that it's capable of running at 175 Hz whilst keeping a 1 ms Gray-to-Gray response time - all of this with IPS' renowned color rendition.

The monitor features a sane 2560 x 1440 resolution and HDR 600 certification from VESA, and thanks to the usage of Quantum Dot tech, will be able to offer 98% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and 160% sRGB ultra-wide color gamut coverage. The monitor supports Adaptive Sync tech (whether via FreeSync or G-Sync compatible), as well as ASUS' ELMB SYNC technology. There's also the usual RGB tech going on in the back of the monitor. The ASUS ROG Swift PG329Q will be released in the fourth quarter of this year. No word on pricing, but expect a monitor with these features to be leaning heavily on the $ side of the equation.

LG Electronics (LG) is bringing new meaning to immersive gaming with its new UltraGear (model 27GN950), the world's first 4K IPS 1 millisecond Gray-to-Gray (GTG) gaming monitor. ASUS today introduced the ROG Strix XG17AHP, a variant of the ROG Strix XG17AHPE 17.3-inch portable gaming monitor the company launched in January. The new XG17AHP includes an innovative new tripod stand. The feet of the stand fold outwards from the main stock, which is telescopic, and can extend in height. This lets you orient the display like a conventional desktop monitor, and not just like an iPad with its cover folded into a prism-like shape. The magnetic smart cover is still included in the package, so you even have that option.

These aside, the ROG Strix XG17AHP is identical to the ROG Strix XG17AHPE from January. It is a 17.3-inch 16:9 IPS display with Full HD resolution, 240 Hz refresh rate, features VESA Adaptive Sync, and a non-glare surface. Since it's meant to be a portable gaming monitor that you pair with your gaming notebook, it packs a 7,800 mAh battery that can provide up to 3 hours of use on a full charge. A USB-C connector is used both for recharging as well as DisplayPort passthrough input; while the monitor also features a micro-HDMI input (cables included that convert this to a standard HDMI). A premium ESS Sabre DAC converts digital audio from the display inputs to high-quality audio for the display's internal speakers, or a 3.5 mm jack. ASUS also includes a pouch that lets you carry the display around. By itself, the display weighs about 1.06 kg (1.76 kg with the tripod stand).

Update Jul 13th: ASUS revealed that the XG17AHP is priced at USD $599.

With the SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro (M20), Schenker Technologies presents an ultra-mobile high-performance laptop, whose top of the range version uses the eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 4800H APU. The deliberate omission of an additional, dedicated graphics card, places the laptop in an exclusive position in the European market. In contrast to its little brother, the SCHENKER VIA 15 (E20), the Leipzig-based laptop manufacturer has equipped the Pro version with more flexible connectivity options and dual-channel memory support. Indespensible features such as the 91 Wh battery and the robust lightweight chassis remain untouched.

Schenker Technologies presents the SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro with AMD's current Renoir APUs - the Ryzen 5 4600H and Ryzen 7 4800H. The powerful, multithreaded and efficient six and eight-core models each operate in the maximum configurable 54 W TDP envelope. Compared to the regular SCHENKER VIA 15 (Non-Pro), whose AMD Ryzen 5 3550U is limited to a TDP of only 15 watts, the Pro offers a remarkable performance improvement. While the majority of competitors focus on coupling AMD's mobile H-APUs with an expensive, dedicated graphics solution, the SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro takes a more efficient approach. The integrated Vega 7 graphics unit is more than capable when powering everyday applications.

ASUS today rolled out the VA27DQSB Eye Care Monitor, designed for multi-display setups in office environments, as you can stack these display along the sides and above, in a 1x3 or 2x3 configuration. The VA27DQSB is a 27-inch monitor with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution, an IPS panel with 178°/178° viewing angles, 75 Hz refresh rate, VESA Adaptive Sync support, and TUV Rhienland-certified low blue-light and flicker-free brightness adjustments (uses a non-PWM method of dimming the LEDs). The included stand offers height adjustments by 150 mm, 90° rotation, tilt up to 35°, and sideways pivot, besides being detachable for use with VESA-compatible multi-monitor mounts. The company didn't reveal pricing.

AOC has recently listed a new monitor on its Chinese website, the U28P2U/BS is a 28 inch 4K IPS monitor featuring a 4 ms G2G response time, and a 60Hz refresh rate. The screen seems to be more orientated to the office/creator community with a typical brightness of 300 cd/m², 1000:1 contrast ratio, 1.07 billion color bit depth, and 178° viewing angle. Color accuracy on the monitor includes 119% sRGB color space coverage, 107% NTSC coverage, and 97% DCI-P3 coverage along with an average factory calibration of ΔE<2.

In terms of I/O the monitor includes x2 HDMI2.0, DisplayPort, x4 USB3.2 Gen1 Type-A (1x with fast charging), 1x USB upstream, and x1 3.5 mm audio output. The included stand features tilt (-5°- 35°), pivot (0° - 90°), swivel (+/- 175°), and height adjustment of 130 mm, VESA mounting is also possible with the 100×100 mount. Pricing and availability are currently unknown.

ASUS today introduced the ZenScreen MB14AC, part of the company's growing line of portable monitors. Unlike the ROG Strix ZXG17AHP, the ZenScreen is targeted more toward the portable mainstream. The MB14AC is a downscale of the MB16ACE from 2019, and a 14-inch 16:9 screen offering Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution, using an IPS panel. A single USB-C connection provides both power and display from your notebook to the ZenScreen (it uses a DisplayLink USB video adapter of its own). It also accepts DisplayPort TMDS signals from the USB-C connector, if found. Other display specs include 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, 700:1 static contrast ratio, and 178° H/V viewing angles. The company didn't mention pricing.

Acer today announced one of the world's highest refresh-rate monitors in the form of the Predator X25. Joining in the likes of Alienware and ASUS, who have already announced their own 360 Hz in the form of the AW2521H and ROG Swift 360, respectively. The Predator X25's über-high refresh rate will leave players out of any excuses so as to why they weren't able to react in time to a threat.

The 360 Hz refresh rates comes with compromises (resolution is only 1080p), and there will be NVIDIA's G-Sync on-board (but a graphics card and CPU combo that can push those 360 FPS to really make use of this refresh rate... Hmm. That's a tougher deal). Alienware has confirmed their AW2521H monitor uses IPS panel technology, and it would thus seem likely that Acer also makes use of that particular panel technology on the Predator X25. However, we'll have to wait and see. The monitor brings some quality of life technologies, such as ergonomics tilting (25 degrees backward, 5 degrees forward), swivel (30 degrees) and height adjustment (4.7 inches). The monitor also features an RGB lighting on the back of the monitor that can light up according to scenes being rendered or according to music you're playing, there's automatic brightness exposure, and a friendly reminder schedule that pops up a warning for users who have been using the monitor for too long, reminding them to take a little walk. No pricing or release date were available at time of writing.

ASUS today unveiled the ProArt Display PA32UCX-PK professional monitor. This 32-inch 4K UHD monitor features Off-Axis Contrast Optimization, and is targeted specifically at professionals working on HDR content. It offers an IPS panel with 1,152-zone dimming Mini LED illumination, 1,200 nits maximum brightness, DisplayHDR 1000 certification, 1,000,000:1 native contrast ratio (not dynamic contrast ratio), and certification for Dolby Vision, HDR-10, and HLG. Among its color reproduction chops include ΔE < 1, 99% DCI-P3, 99.5% Adobe RGB, and 100% sRGB/Rec. 709. Inputs include Thunderbolt 3, DisplayPort 1.2, and HDMI 2.0. The company didn't reveal pricing.

The recently announced Phillips 272B1G monitor features a 27 inch IPS 1080P screen, with a 4 ms (Grey to Grey) response time, 250 nits brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and 76% NTSC/98% sRGB coverage. The IPS panel allows for wide viewing angles of 178º (H)/178º (V) and comes with an anti-glare, 3H, Haze 25% coating.

The monitor includes several energy-saving features such as PowerSensor and LightSensor along with a "Super-energy-efficient" design. PowerSensor uses an infrared sensor to detect the presence of a user and can automatically reduce screen brightness in the case of absence reducing power draw up to 70% while increasing monitor lifespan. The LightSensor feature uses a smart sensor to adjust the screen brightness depending on the light conditions in the room.

According to the latest investigations from the WitsView research division of TrendForce, issues with the NB (notebook computer) panel supply chain, such as material shortage, labor shortage, and logistic disruptions, were gradually resolved starting in April. The resolution of these issues, combined with rising WFH and distance education demand brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, resulted in a strong wave of panel demand in 2Q20. TrendForce projects 2Q20 NB panel shipment to reach 53.3 million units, a 17.7% increase YoY and 33.6% increase QoQ.

LG Electronics USA announced that the 27-inch QHD "Ergo" IPS monitor (model 27QN880-B) is now available as an online exclusive with an SRP of $449.99 through the end of June, and then at LG-authorized retailers nationwide beginning July 1. The new Alienware AW2521H is a 24.5-inch extreme refresh-rate gaming monitor by Dell. If you can live with its Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution, you can take advantage of its 360 Hz refresh-rate. The best part? This display uses an IPS panel (not TN-film), and supports NVIDIA G-Sync, letting it edge past the ASUS ROG Swift displays with 360 Hz. Dell did not provide an availability date, except mentioning that it will release later this year in the "Dark Side of the Moon" color scheme.

The GDP WIN Max is the latest handheld PC from GDP, described as an all in one product that combines the portability of a handheld and the graphics performance of a gaming laptop. The GDP WIN Max has smashed its Indiegogo funding goal of $25,000 currently sitting at over $1,300,000 USD, the handled PC features vastly upgraded internal from the GDP WIN 2 now featuring a 10th generation 10 nm Intel Core I5-1035G7 CPU with Iris Plus Graphics 940, paired with 16 GB of DDR4 3733 MHz ram, 512 GB M.2 SSD and 8" HD screen. Creators in the visual arts, such as graphic designers and photographers, require a monitor that can quickly and smoothly perform tasks with a wide and accurate color range. The ConceptD CM2241W leverages an incredibly fast 1ms response time to support clear images and 99 percent RGB coverage to deliver bright, lifelike and professional grade colors. EVE Distribution, the company that's already crowd-sourced the Microsoft Surface-rival Eve Hybrid, which launched to very positive feedback from the tech community (even with the incredible delays in shipping and distributing the purchased Eve Hybrids, though the company now says they've rebuilt their logistics and distribution mechanisms. Now, the company is eyeing next-generation gaming with its Spectrum monitor lineup, which aim to be both PC-centric and console-centric gaming monitors.

The three monitor models all share LG as a panel source (specifically, the same panel used in the LG UltraGear 27GL850. All of them also share the same IPS technology with 1 ms response times, 98% DCI-P3 and 100% sRGB coverage, as well as the same 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Freesync Premium (from 48 Hz VRR support through to the maximum refresh rate of every monitor) and G-Sync Compatible support is standard on all monitors. Differences start to appear when looking at maximum resolution, brightness and refresh rates.

MSI today announced two new diagonally-different additions to its monitor lineup. Under the Optix branding, the Optix G241 and G271 monitors both feature a 1080p IPS panel ticking at 144 Hz refresh rates. 1 ms response time is featured in both monitors, as is support for AMD's FreeSync. Where both panels differ is in the color space they're offering: the 27" G271 offers a slightly narrower 92% DCI-P3 coverage (94% on the G241). Viewing angles (178º), maximum brightness (250 cd m²) and a 1,000:1 contrast ratio are equal between both monitors.

I/O-wise, we're looking at 2x HDMI 1.4b, 1x DisplayPort 1.2a, and 1x audio out. The Optix G271 is available starting from a very interesting $239, while the G241 is available for $189.99.
