NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series "AD104" Could Match RTX 3090 Ti Performance

NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 40 series Ada Lovelace graphics card lineup is slowly shaping up to be a significant performance uplift compared to the previous generation. Today, according to a well-known hardware leaker kopite7kimi, we are speculating that a mid-range AD104 SKU could match the performance of the last-generation flagship GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card. The full AD104 SKU is set to feature 7680 FP32 CUDA cores, paired with 12 GB of 21 Gbps GDDR6X memory running on a 192-bit bus. Coming with a large TGP of 400 Watts, it should have a performance of the GA102-350-A1 SKU found in GeForce RTX 3090 Ti.

Regarding naming this complete AD104 SKU, it should end up as a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti model. Of course, we must wait and see what NVIDIA decides to do with the lineup and what the final models will look like.

Unofficial NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060M Performs Within an Inch of the RTX 3060

Remember those unofficial GeForce RTX 3060 cards that sported "hackamajigged" Mobile versions of the NVIDIA RTX 3060 desktop GPU wrapped in a shiny, desktop-like shroud? Well, those cards are now surfacing again just as Ethereum's Merge approaches (for the umpteenth time, it has to be said). Miners have taken to offload their graphics cards in order to recoup their hardware investment costs. Despite the recent positive price action, which saw Ethereum in particular recovering 34% of its value in about a week, there's only so much time left to mine before all those re-purposed GPUs become "nothing more" than gaming graphics cards. And those are usually superfluous beyond one per rig - never mind the numbers used by miners.

As these cards are now surfacing in the secondary markets, some benchmarks are also leaking. According to a Korean YouTuber, It appears that the RTX 3060M is actually a pretty competent RTX 3060. The GeForce RTX 3060M makes use of the same GA106 (Ampere) silicon as the GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile, sporting 3,840 CUDA cores and 6 GB of 14 Gbps GDDR6 memory (256 more CUDA cores than the desktop version, as wider, lesser-clocked GPUs sport better power efficiency profiles). The desktop shroud does allow it to unlock an additional 300 MHz in core frequency, while reducing its TDP from 105 W down to just 80 W.

NVIDIA Announces Financial Results for First Quarter Fiscal 2023

NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) today reported record revenue for the first quarter ended May 1, 2022, of $8.29 billion, up 46% from a year ago and up 8% from the previous quarter, with record revenue in Data Center and Gaming. GAAP earnings per diluted share for the quarter were $0.64, down 16% from a year ago and down 46% from the previous quarter, and include an after-tax impact of $0.52 related to the $1.35 billion Arm acquisition termination charge. Non-GAAP earnings per diluted share were $1.36, up 49% from a year ago and up 3% from the previous quarter.

"We delivered record results in Data Center and Gaming against the backdrop of a challenging macro environment," said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. "The effectiveness of deep learning to automate intelligence is driving companies across industries to adopt NVIDIA for AI computing. Taiwan's Tech Titans Adopt World's First NVIDIA Grace CPU-Powered System Designs

ASUS To Drop Graphics Card Prices by 25% from April 1st in the U.S.

ASUS has announced that it will be dropping the prices for almost the entirety of its NVIDIA RTX 30-series graphics card stack. The news comes on the back of finally descending channel prices for the latest GPUs, alongside the U.S. Trade Office decision last week of excluding integrated circuit boards from the added taxes in the China-US Trade War. As an ASUS representative told Tom's Hardware, users should expect an "up to 25%" price reduction to be applied throughout its RTX 30-series stack (from the RTX 3050 through the RTX 3090 Ti). Interestingly, there was no mention of AMD's graphics cards in the announcement.

After more than a year of inflated pricing, there may be a light in the tunnel - although it's becoming increasingly difficult to discern whether it's the RTX 3000-series family behind the veil or NVIDIA's next-gen solutions. No other AMD or NVIDIA board partner made a comparable announcement, but one would expect them to follow ASUS on the downward pricing trend or risk sitting in larger unsold inventories than they're comfortable with. Of course, this remains a problem for ASUS throughout the world, should the company not extend the price-cut to other regions other than the U.S.

NVIDIA Unveils Grace CPU Superchip with 144 Cores and 1 TB/s Bandwidth

NVIDIA has today announced its Grace CPU Superchip, a monstrous design focused on heavy HPC and AI processing workloads. Previously, team green has teased an in-house developed CPU that is supposed to go into servers and create an entirely new segment for the company. Today, we got a more detailed look at the plan with the Grace CPU Superchip. The Superchip package represents a package of two Grace processors, each containing 72 cores. These cores are based on Arm v9 in structure set architecture iteration and two CPUs total for 144 cores in the Superchip module. These cores are surrounded by a now unknown amount of LPDDR5x with ECC memory, running at 1 TB/s total bandwidth.

NVIDIA Grace CPU Superchip uses the NVLink-C2C cache coherent interconnect, which delivers 900 GB/s bandwidth, seven times more than the PCIe 5.0 protocol. The company targets two-fold performance per Watt improvement over today's CPUs and wants to bring efficiency and performance together. We have some preliminary benchmark information provided by NVIDIA. In the SPECrate2017_int_base integer benchmark, the Grace CPU Superchip scores over 740 points, which is just the simulation for now. This means that the performance target is not finalized yet, teasing a higher number in the future. The company expects to ship the Grace CPU Superchip in the first half of 2023, with an already supported ecosystem of software, including NVIDIA RTX, HPC, NVIDIA AI, and NVIDIA Omniverse software stacks and platforms.

NVIDIA RTX 3080 12 GB May Offer 8,960 CUDA Cores

The RTX 3080 12 GB is still a rumored card, despite the increasing amounts of evidence towards its eventual release. But it seems that NVIDIA's refresh of the RTX 3080 graphics card won't be limited to a VRAM and bus width increase - CUDA core counts are now reported to have also increased by 2.9%, up to 8,960 from the RTX 3080 10 GB's 8,704 CUDA cores. The card is naturally still expected to make use of the GA-102 chip. An expected increased memory bus width of 384-bits will also bring about an increase in memory bandwidth, at 912 GB/s, the same as the RTX 3080 Ti (it stands at 760 GB/s for the RTX 3080).

NVIDIA RTX 2060 12 GB Supply to Improve Entering 2022

NVIDIA's latest attempt to mitigate the continued graphics card supply issues with the relaunch of the RTX 2060 in a 12 GB flavor seems to be mostly vapor - for a little while longer, at least. Even when that happens, would-be buyers of RTX 2060 12 GB cards will still have to contend with the absolute lack of pricing structure in the current market. the absence of an MSRP essentially gives the entire NVIDIA supply chain a way to operate and earn profits in the dark, setting their own pricing solely according to mechanisms of supply and demand. NVIDIA itself, AIB partners, distributors and retailers - all of them can seemingly add whatever margin they feel the market demand will sustain. It doesn't seem that the third life of NVIDIA's RTX 2060 12 GB will do much to improve the actual situation for consumers - but retailers can now sell three-year-old technology at whatever pricing the market determines.

ZOTAC have decided to slightly bump operating frequencies of the GA-104 chip powering the RTX 3060 Ti AMP White (1,775 MHz compared to the Twin Edge's 1,750 MHz). The remainder of the specs are as expected: 4,840 Ampere CUDA cores, 8 GB of 14 Gbps GDDR6 memory over a 256-bit bus, and a pair of 2x 8-pin connectors to power all the electronics up. External card dimensions stand at 231.9 mm length, 141.3 mm width, and 41.5 mm thickness. I/O is assured by the usual 3x DisplayPort 1.4a and 1x HDMI 2.1 connectors. The card is now springing up in retail stores - and considering current pricing for the Twin Edge version, listed at $659, you should expect pricing to be in the same ballpark.

NVIDIA RTX 30 SUPER Series Specifications Rumored

The NVIDIA RTX 30 SUPER series is expected to be announced by the company early next year in January at CES 2022. We have now received a list of rumored specifications for the upcoming family from kopite7kimi who correctly revealed the RTX 30 series. The list includes four desktop cards with the RTX 3060 SUPER, 3070 SUPER, 3080 SUPER, and 3090 SUPER. The RTX 3060 SUPER is listed as featuring 5632 CUDA cores paired with 12 GB of GDDR6 memory which is a considerable increase from the 4864 CUDA cores and 8 GB of memory found on the RTX 3060 Ti.

The RTX 3070 SUPER appears to feature less of an upgrade with the core count remaining at 5888 and the memory capacity at 8 GB however this will be upgraded from GDDR6 to GDDR6X. The RTX 3080 SUPER will receive 8960 CUDA and 12 GB of GDDR6X memory compared to the 8704 cores and 10 GB memory on the RTX 3080. The new flagship consumer card will be the RTX 3090 SUPER with an extra 256 CUDA cores for a total of 10752 and 24 GB of GDDR6X memory. These specifications are only rumors with the leaker stating that they doubt some of them so we will have to wait for further leaks until we can know with certainty.
