Skullcandy Launches the Aviator 900 ANC Headphones With a Battery Charge Display

Skullcandy's latest headphones are part throwback to one of their older, wired headphones from over a decade ago, part modern ANC headphones for long haul travellers. The Aviator 900 ANC has a very distinct design that is likely to cause divided opinions, but the most obvious feature is the two digits display that shows the battery charge level, except you won't be able to see it when you're wearing the headphones. Still, it might be handy for seeing the charge level at a quick glance, without having to unlock your phone and potentially even start an app to see the charge level. Other controls include a small joystick, a knurled, metallic looking volume wheel and a custom button. Connectivity includes a USB Type-C port for charging, a 3.5 mm audio jack for analogue input and Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint pairing support. Sadly there's no mention of supported audio codecs on the product page, just that there's support for THX spatial audio with head tracking and a low latency audio mode.

Other features include Google Fast Pair and Finder, 60 hours battery life with ANC off and 50 hours with it on. A 10-minute quick charge is said to give you four hours of battery life with ANC off. The headphones are said to feature a sweat and water-resistant nano coating, but there's no IPX rating. The ANC uses six microphones and there's also wear detection. At 332 grams, making them almost 80 grams heavier than Bose and Sony's latest, high-end ANC models, but with over twice as long battery life. Skullcandy supplies a pouch that doubles as a small bag with a strap, a USB-C to A charging cable and a 3.5 mm audio cable with the Aviator 900 ANC. The headphones will be available around the middle of this month and have an MSRP of US$299.99/£249.99.

Logitech Intro Signature Slim Wired Keyboard and Mouse Combo for Business

Logitech today announced Signature Slim Wired MK620 & MK625 Combo for Business, a revamped keyboard and mouse duo designed for companies and industries that require wired technology for reliability, physical security, or shared workspaces, and need to switch between PC, macOS, and ChromeOS.

It may seem the world has gone wireless, but some industries have strong reasons not to cut the cord. In financial trading floors, physical security is top of mind. In medical facilities, a low battery can slow down information input during a patient's critical condition. In schools or shared workspaces, missing keyboards and mice can bring productivity to a halt.

Microsoft to Enforce Certain USB-C Features on WHCP Certified Laptops

The Type-C USB connector has made it a lot easier—at least in theory—to connect devices, but it's not without its faults, especially as it's been hard to know what capabilities both the ports and the cables deliver. The USB-IF has solved most of the issues on the cable side with clearer markings on certified cables, but that still leaves both computers and devices as a gotcha point. Microsoft has now announced that it has a new WHCP (Windows Hardware Compatibility Program) certification program for Windows 11 laptops that guarantees certain features from a Type-C USB port. No, it doesn't mean all new Windows 11 WHCP laptops will support USB4, which is something of a letdown, but it does guarantee that all USB-C ports on new WHCP laptops will support charging of the laptop and at least DP Alt mode for one display.

As the older USB 3.x standard doesn't support many of the features of USB4, there are several limitations to laptops that lack USB4 support, beyond just data transfer speeds over USB, such as PCIe tunnelling and Thunderbolt 3 support. However, Microsoft mandates Thunderbolt 3 support on all WHCP laptops with USB4 support. USB4 equipped WHCP laptops also have to support 15 W device charging and at least a pair of 4K 60 Hz displays via DP Alt mode. Microsoft's new WHCP certification does at least remove some of the guesswork when buying a new laptop, but until all laptops support USB4, there will still be devices with limited USB Type-C ports in the market.

j5Create Brings Accessories for the Travelling Creator at Computex 2025

j5Create brought several useful connectivity accessories for a wide range of consumers from professionals to creators, to Computex 2025. We begin our tour with the JTD5172, a Thunderbolt 5 Triple 8K @ 60 Hz docking station. The dock comes with Intel Thunderbolt 5 Bandwidth Boost capability, where either the Tx or Rx lanes can be made to work at 120 Gbps at the expense of the other running at 40 Gbps, to enhance transfer speeds. The dock also supports passthrough of displays at resolutions as high as 8K @ 144 Hz or triple 8K @ 60 Hz, or 4K @ 240 Hz. It also puts out some downstream connectivity of its own, including an M.2 NVMe Gen 3 slot, 2.5 Gbps Ethernet, SD 4.0, and a few USB 3.2 ports.

Next up, is the j5Create JTD5174, a more feature-packed, "AI-ready" Thunderbolt 5 dock that includes a GPU/NPU module to turn your PC into an AI PC. We're not sure what module this is, or what silicon it uses. Its downstream connectivity and Thunderbolt 5 daisy-chaining features are similar to those of the JTD5172. Next up, we were shown j5Create's durable 40 Gbps USB4 cables that are capable of 240 W power delivery; and a VESA-certified DisplayPort 2.1 cable, which can transmit 80 Gbps for resolutions of up to 16K @ 60 Hz with DSC over a single cable. The JTSA302 is an ergonomic dual-monitor mount that includes a USB4-capable 10-in-1 docking station that puts out a plethora of connectivity, including dual 4K @ 60 Hz HDMI, 1 GbE wired LAN, SD 4.0, microSD 4.0, and a number of USB ports that include 100 W PD passthrough. For its main function, the JTSA302 supports up to two 32-inch 16:9 monitors. We now move onto one of the star attractions in the j5Create booth, the Stream Station Pro 4K.

Logitech G, a brand of Logitech and a leading innovator of gaming and sim racing technologies and gear, today announced the launch of the Logitech G522 Gaming Headset, a new addition to its award-winning G5 series, designed to elevate both gameplay and personal expression. G522 builds on the strong foundation of the widely popular Logitech G733 headset, carrying its legacy further while introducing an exciting evolution. At first glance, the family resemblance is clear, but as you look closer, the G522 reveals a fresh, elevated design. It's all about progression - sleeker curves, a more sophisticated silhouette, and thoughtful design choices that reflect a modern take on performance and style. The sharper edges of the G733 have been transitioned into smooth, flowing lines showcasing a refined aesthetic.

Cougar Unveils Innovative New Case Designs at Computex 2025

Cougar brought a breath of innovation to Computex 2025 with new cases optimized for high airflow without compromising on looks. The CFV235 and CFV235 Mesh are an interesting example of this. The case is horizontally divided, but there is a rather large gap between the upper-left chamber (with the motherboard tray), and the lower chamber (with the PSU and drive bays). This gap features a set of fan intake vents, so you can either install intake fans here, or a 360 mm radiator, and have it draw in fresh air without the PSU or drives getting in the way. There are three additional vents along the top panel, and two facing the right side, besides the obligatory 120 mm rear exhaust. The CFV235 has tempered glass on two sides of the upper compartment, while the CFV235 Mesh sees the front panel replaced with a mesh intake and two additional 160 mm intakes with pre-installed ARGB fans. Cougar set up fogging machines to show how the bottom intakes help draw in fresh air.

Next up, is the AirFace 180. This mid-tower draws its name from its front mesh intake that's dominated by a pair of massive 180 mm ARGB illuminated intake fans. The case has a horizontally partitioned layout, with additional fan mounts along the partition, and the rear exhaust. You get clearance for graphics cards up to 34 cm in length, and other modern features such as USB-C front-panel. Looking for something less bold? There's the AirFace Flo, a mid-tower build on the same concept as the AirFace 180, but with smaller 160 mm fans, which are still larger than the original AirFace that came with 140 mm spinners. And then there's the AirFace Pure Pro, a case with a simplified front mesh design that includes a trio of 120 mm ARGB fans instead of two 140 mm.

Noctua at Computex 2025: Air Cooled Mouse, Low Noise AIO CLC, Co-branded Products

Noctua at the 2025 Computex brought several innovative new products to show us. We begin our tour with the various co-branded products. Noctua and ASUS have been co-branding graphics cards for a few years now, and their partnership continues with the ASUS GeForce RTX 5080 Noctua Edition, which comes with a cooling solution that's been designed and tuned for low noise by Noctua. They've done a fantastic job with their RTX 40-series Noctua Edition cards, and we're confident their excellence will hold with the RTX 50-series, too.

Next up, is the Antec Flux Pro Noctua Edition case. A variant of the Flux Pro case Antec launched in August 2024, this case comes not just with Noctua's color theme, but also pre-installed premium Noctua fans, which include the NF-A14x25 G2 140 mm spinners in the front, and NF-A12x25 G2 120 mm at the rear. Noctua has tested the case with these fans for substantially lower noise levels than the stock fans the original Flux Pro comes with. All fans are installed with anti-vibration mounts, and the case comes with a pre-installed Noctua NA-FH1 fan hub, with factory wiring for the pre-installed fans. The Antec Flux Pro Noctua Edition is expected to launch in Q4-2025.

Gamdias Showcases Gaming Laptop Coolers & Portable USB Hubs at Computex 2025

Alongside an impressive number of new case designs and components, Gamdias has presented robust gaming laptop coolers. This flagship option—designed for gamers and content creators—is armed with an industrial-grade turbofan—powered via USB-C. Integrated RGB lighting zones can be controlled through a physical interface, along with fan settings.

VLI Demos USB Type-C and HDMI 2.1 Portable Gaming Dock Concept at Computex 2025

As we walked around the show floor earlier today, we walked past the USB-IF booth and spotted VLI showing off their new portable gaming dock concept. What the company has done, is to take its new VL605 USB-C DP to HDMI 2.1 PCON and combined it with the VL832 USB4 endpoint device, which under normal circumstances operate as a USB4 to USB 3.2 and DP 1.4 adapter and the VL109 which is a docking controller that also supports USB PD for up to three ports. The overall design supports up to 140 W USB PD 3.1 power passthrough as well.

The end result is a fairly small PCB that delivers an HDMI 2.1 port with VRR support, a first for a docking station solution as far as we're aware, as well as a USB Type-C with DP Alt-mode output, two USB Type-C ports with USB PD support and two USB Type-A ports. In itself it's not a unique product, but from our understanding, there aren't many docking stations out there that support VRR combined with USB ports that offer more than USB 2.0 speeds. VLI has tested it with AMD FreeSync as well as NVIDIA G-Sync compatible monitors without any problems and it's also been certified for FreeSync Premium Pro. Overall a neat little solution that could appeal to gamers that want a simple way of hooking up their peripherals to their gaming laptop when using an external monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Netac at Computex 2025: NVI50MK Gen 5 SSD and Magnetic SSD Enclosures

Netac at Computex 2025 brought its latest consumer storage products. We begin our coverage with the NVI50MK, the company's flagship M.2 NVMe Gen 5 SSD. This drive comes with a factory fitted aluminium heatsink, and comes in capacities of up to 4 TB. The company didn't reveal the controller+NAND flash combination, but mentioned that it offers DRAM caching, and sequential transfer speeds of up to 14 GB/s reads, with up to 11 GB/s sequential writes.

Next up, is the HDIOM2 Pr, a magnetic SSD enclosure for M.2-2242 and M.2-2230 NVMe SSDs. Its bridge chip offers a Gen 3 x2 connection internally, which it wires out as 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2. The enclosure is magnetized to stick to most smartphones, with a short length USB-C cable. We also spied the coin-sized US9 USB flash drive, which comes with USB-C and USB-A receptacles, up to 1 TB of capacity, and sequential transfer speeds of up to 1000 MB/s over the drive's 10 Gbps-capable USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection. The ZX20-II is a credit card-sized magnetic portable SSD with a 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 type-C connection, and a slender 8 mm profile that weighs just 49 g. The drive comes in capacities of up to 2 TB.

MSI Prepares OC-Focused B850E MPOWER Motherboard, and X870 ITX Board with PCB I/O Extension

MSI's Computex booth has prepared new products for everyone, even for overclockers in microATX form factors. The company has presented a microATX MPOWER B850E motherboard, as we expected the MPOWER series comeback, with a very simple visual layout, aiming to please overclockers and even extreme LN2 users, with little add-ons to obstruct operations. Based on the B850E chipset, it accommodates AM5 processors with up to 16 cores and 32 threads in the top-end AMD Ryzen 9 9950X SKU. There are two eight-pin CPU connectors instead of the regular single eight-pin connector, for more overclocking headroom. VRM phases are covered in low-profile heatsinks so that LN2 coolers, often large and chunky, don't interfere with motherboard elements, which would usually require removal and later thermal isolation. What is particularly interesting is the usage of two memory DIMM slots, which is ideal for overclocking as it requires less CPU signaling to the memory. For easy signaling, MSI's EZ dashboard integrates power, reset, clear CMOS buttons, and a debug LED for CPU status codes.

China Develops HDMI Alternative: 192 Gbps Speeds and 480 W Power Delivery

A consortium of over 50 Chinese companies, including names like Huawei, Hisense, and TCL, has unveiled a domestic alternative to HDMI that offers up to 192 Gbps bandwidth and 480 W of power delivery. This new standard, the General Purpose Media Interface (GPMI), supports next-generation multimedia devices, meeting the growing demands of 8K resolution, higher refresh rates, and simplified connectivity. There are two variants available: a smaller Type-C model providing 96 Gbps and 240 W and a larger Type-B model delivering the full 192 Gbps and 480 W. Developed as a third-generation audio and video interface, GPMI addresses the limitations of older standards such as DVI and VGA while vastly outperforming HDMI 2.1's 48 Gbps and DisplayPort 2.1's 80 Gbps in data throughput. Its design enables bidirectional communication, seamlessly transmitting video, audio, data, and power over a single cable.

The standard's architecture includes a primary data link that can be split into various configurations—such as 6+2 or 1+7 channels—to adapt to different usage scenarios. In addition to its high-bandwidth data channels, GPMI features auxiliary links for device management, cable information, and a limited USB 2.0 connection. The Type-C variant, which has received approval from the USB Association, ensures compatibility with the USB-C ecosystem, helping with the integration for smart TVs and other connected devices. Primarily developed for the domestic market, GPMI also aims to reduce China's dependence on Western-controlled standards and licensing regimes.
