The unit measures 136.5×143×19.2 mm, weighing around 300 g. Single-layer DVD±R and DVD+RW discs are written at 8x and double-layer discs at 6x. The drive uses just a single USB 2.0 cable for both data and power. It is scheduled to release in Japan soon, priced at ¥9,600 (US $116).

Sony Optiarc America today announced its first slim, portable and external Blu-ray Disc (BD) rewritable drive to compliment notebooks, netbooks or desktop PCs.
