Bykski 30 mm RC Series Radiator Review

Value and Conclusion

  • The Bykski CR-RD360RC-TN-V2 30 mm RC series radiator costs ¥258, which directly translates to US$40. The most accessible retail option is from Bykski's official Aliexpress store where it costs $44, but is currently on sale for $39.69. The Bykski US store is a distributor entity and wants all of $80 instead!
  • Amazing value for money, at least from China
  • Low coolant flow restriction
  • Good build quality
  • Interesting use of copper over brass for the core
  • Decent thermal performance for medium to high fan speeds
  • The core and fin geometry is not amenable to low noise/low RPM thermal performance
  • Poor value offering from the US store
  • Questionable QC with a missing screw
  • Unnecessary branding with the long product name
Hey remember when I said the radiator is on sale for ~$40 on Aliexpress as of the time of writing? I am actually writing this when all of China is in the middle of a 6/18 sale, and the actual price for this radiator is $34.40 with an additional $8 in shipping to my address. This is obviously an extremely well-timed event, so I am going with the "MSRP" of $44 on the Aliexpress store for the performance per dollar chart on the previous page. But I understand that it is basically going to be on the ~$40 sale price perpetually, so you might as well consider that as the street pricing. The $80 the Byksi US store wants for this is an absolute joke; there is no reason to buy it from them unless you fear having to return it to the retailer anytime soon.

For $40, nothing else tested comes remotely close to offering the value for money of the Bykski 30 mm RC Series 360 mm radiator. Purely from a thermal cooling point of view, there are better radiators out there, including the Black Ice Nemesis GTS (and LS OEM variants) in the same thickness class. But you can get two of these for nearly the same price as one of the better-performing radiators, which will outperform everything else too. The use of "red copper" didn't work out as well as Bykski would have liked, no doubt, but the radiator is still a good performer at higher fan speeds, or lower if you have better-performing fans to begin with. Coolant flow restriction is on the lower side of average too, actually the best of the lot thus far for the thinner radiator class.

It comes down to branding and market awareness since there is nothing else that should stop someone from going with this radiator. The product name is confusing, there is no reason to have it printed on the radiator too, and the missing screw is a shame. There are shortcuts taken to hit that lower price point, but they fare well on a passive component such as this radiator. Build quality is actually quite good, so I am eager to see what the other RC Series radiators end up doing. If you agree with my assessment on this value offering, just be sure to buy it directly from Bykski and not its US distributor.
