Cooler Master MasterFan SF120M ARGB

Packaging and Contents

Cooler Master also provides two of their unique, higher-end MasterFan SF120M with built-in ARGB. These are sold individually and are lighter flavors of the brands top of the line MasterFan SF120. Each comes in a full-color, windowed package with the fan sitting neatly inside a plastic tray. These are dual-ball bearing units rated to be as quiet as 12 dBA on the lowest setting.

You will receive four rubber pins alongside classic screws for mounting purposes. Cooler Master also includes a small manual to help you wire the fan up properly.

A Closer Look

The MasterFan SF120M ARGB is one hefty unit with its frame consisting of multiple parts to achieve the illumination setup. There is the circular inner part and separate pieces in the corner which are held in place by two screws each. Sandwiched into those corners are those additional ARGB areas.

You can clearly see the massive frame and illumination pattern being created by this separation of parts. All the leads are sleeved and of ample length, with a set of classic ARGB connectors and a separate PWM plug. As such, you are not locked into any specific lighting ecosystem, which is obviously great.

The hub of the MasterFan SF120M sports a static logo design. This means the plastic cap in the center is held in place magnetically and does not rotate with the fan. Lastly, the backside of the hub reveals an embedded 3-speed switch to set the maximum RPM and thus noise level of each unit individually, which is pretty sweet as well.
