Enermax ETS-F40-FS ARGB Review

Packaging

Enermax certainly likes to go bold with the packaging. The front is rather boring since it just shows off the ETS-F40-FS in black and white. ARGB software and CPU socket compatibility are also showcased on the front. However, turn to the left side and you are greeted by an odd combination of black, white, gray, and orange. Not the most readable color selection, but it is certainly different. The back is similar to the front, but lists the cooler's features, like Enermax's patented VGF (Vortex Generation Flow) and VEF (Vacuum Effect Flow) design elements to improve cooling performance. Of course, that it is an ARGB cooler is mentioned as well. Thankfully, the back is far more readable than the left side.

The right side is the same as the left regarding the mix of colors and not being as readable as I would like. Enermax listed all the necessary specifications and included an image of the cooler with its various dimensions for reference. As for the top, it simply lists the model.

The packaging is rather barebones, but it is foam, which is always a plus in my book. While I would like to see a bit more cushioning considering my local delivery driver's penchant for chucking packages, the cooler did arrive safe and sound, so I have no substantial complaints here.

The cooler supports the sockets you would expect, including all the mainstream sockets from AMD and Intel. The design of the mounting hardware is quite simple, but that isn't a bad thing; on the contrary, it feels sturdy, and a simple design means fewer headaches, which is also a plus. My only gripe is that like most coolers using AMD's backplate, you're going to wish you had a third arm to make the process a bit easier.

Common parts supplied for mounting include:
  • 4x Fan clips
  • 4x Washers
  • 4x Position screws
  • 4x Stand-offs
  • 4x Nuts
  • 4x LGA2011/2066 screws
  • 4x AMD mounting screws
  • 2x Intel mounting plates
  • 1x AMD mounting plate
  • 1x Intel backplate
  • 1x 140 mm ARGB fan
  • 1x Heatsink
  • 1x Tube thermal paste
  • 1x Instruction manual
