A Closer Look

The Liqtech 240 uses, as you may have a guessed, a 240 mm x 120 mm x 27 mm radiator. Its red rubber anti-vibration strips reduce fan vibrations, and, with it, noise. The tubing is rubber; however, unlike the Corsair Hydro Series H105, Enermax's rubber hoses are stiffer, which isn't a problem, although unexpected. The radiator uses a new design that has a lot in common with traditional heatsinks. The fins have actually been slid over the alunimuim tubes and are soldered on. This allows each fin to more directly contact said tubes. It also doesn't hurt that Enermax put their own unique visual spin on the radiator, which makes it stand out a bit from the competition. The radiator has a fins per inch / 2.54 cm ratio of around 12-13, which is a great deal less than the 20 FPI seen on Corsair's H105.

With a metal pump top that should also function as a heatsink, the pump is unique as well. It also has a built-in blue LED that illuminates Enermax's logo. The fan cable is braided and the tubes are fitted to the pump with fittings that swivel. The Liqtech 240 has a copper base with visible machining marks, and while they should not affect performance, the finish could be better.

The ED122512S-PA fans are high-pressure twister-bearing fans with three APS (adjustable peak speed) PWM modes between 600-2500 RPM for high, 600-2000 for balanced, and 600-1300 RPM for quiet performance. As one might guess, high performance mode will likely be pretty damn loud; however, quiet mode should be just that, and, overall, these steps are a great addition on Enermax's part. The fan blades can also be removed for easier cleaning, which is a great feature to have.
