MSI MPG X870E Carbon Wi-Fi Review

SSD Temperatures

A lot depends on thermal pad quality, contact, size of the heatsink, and it's placement on the PCB as to how well it cools the SSDs and here the MSI MPG X870E Carbon Wi-Fi saw its lowest temperatures for both PCIe Gen 5 and Gen 4 M.2 SSDs in the lower slot with the best temperatures we've seen so far, even outstripping the lone side-mounted heatsink on the ASRock X870E Taichi. Of course if you plan on using multiple SSDs the situation may change so it's always best to check, however with a single PCIe Gen 5 SSD, the best location for it is not the top heatsink.
