Soundgraph Remote+ Pro

Soundgraph offers a Remote+ App to allow for utilize your iDevice to control media on the PC. It utilizes a client/server architecture, which means that you have to install a small Remote+ Server program on the HTPC itself and have a wireless network set up. It works hand in hand with the HDFrame software from Soundgraph.

There are two different versions of the Remote+ App: the "lite" and the "pro" version. Both are identical in terms of functionality. The two major differences are the price, as the lite version is free and the pro will set you back 9.90 US Dollars and the the lite will work without limitations in combination with Hummin' and Smartbay products, while only displaying 30% of the media library when no such device is present. The pro on the other hand will always allow access to the entire media present on the source system, regardless if such a Soundgraph device is part of it.

Quickstart Gallery

When you turn the application on for the first time, you are greeted by a quick start guide consisting of four slides. Soundgraph has once more managed to create an application which is intuitive and easy to use - something one should never take for granted in this industry.

The Software communicates through the wireless network with your Server/HTPC, which allows you to control your media library even when sitting on the toilet for example. Need some loud heavy metal, so that your girlfriend does not hear you in the process? No problem! Once you select the server you can either choose to play back the media from a networked device on that server or go straight for the local storage of that PC.

Once you have selected a media, it starts playing on the PC and you are presented with a "now playing" screen with the basic playback options.

On top of the music, videos or pictures, you may surf through YouTube and watch these clips on the PC as well, which turns out to have the identical functionality as a locally stored video file. On top of that, the Remote+ App also allows you to access various news sources around the interwebs.

Input Gallery

As the app does not only limit your use to direct selection of media, it offers the same set of input methods we have seen with the FingerVU screens. You may enter text, use the touchscreen of the iDevice as a mouse pad, media control pad or navigation pad.

Last but not least, one can turn off the entire PC at the press of a button or send it into sleep/hibernate mode if no longer needed.
