Value and Conclusion

  • The Xigmatek Battle-Axe VGA Cooler retails for as low as $25 USD.
  • Amazing core load temps
  • Inaudible over system noise
  • H.D.T. Technology
  • Dual 92mm fans
  • Ramsinks included
  • Quick installation
  • Heatpipes restrict use of ramsinks on two memory modules
  • No ultra low profile ramsinks included to account for the above
  • Blocks a third expansion slot (for a total of three blocked)
  • Unusable pre-applied thermal tape on ramsinks
Xigmatek has truly outdone themselves in price/performance with the Battle-Axe. With the possibility of purchasing the Battle-Axe for under even $25 USD after mail-in rebate, there really just isn't any other VGA cooler that can outdo it in price/performance. The only issues I had with this cooler weren't actually related to the Battle-Axe itself but in fact the ramsinks Xigmatek included. My first issue was the useless thermal tape pre-applied to them which I simply had to remove and use Arctic Ceramique. Secondly, no ultra-low profile ramsinks were provided to account for how closely the heatpipes come to two of the memory modules.
Despite those two issues, I was otherwise extremely impressed. Installation of the Battle-Axe was extremely simple, taking no more than 10 minutes, and the core temperatures were outstanding, far outperforming the HR-03 GT at less than half the price.
