Pushing the Limits

Overclocking on the XPG Xenia 15 KC is limited. The BIOS supports CPU voltage changes, which means we can undervolt and get better average boost clocks and lower temperatures on the CPU. The range is 0-500 mV, and I adjusted it by 50 mV until the system no longer booted into Windows. That happened very quickly, so I ended up with a -65 mV undervolt. I used the "Quick Mode" button a lot in testing the undervolt under different load scenarios.

Overclocking the GPU was equally easy, although I used MSI Afterburner for that. I ended up with +120 on the core and +500 on the memory. With the "Quick Mode" button set to "Performance" as well as using the option for "Benchmark Mode" from within Intel NUC Software Suite, I tested for stability and artifacts without any problems at all. I did test higher speeds for everything where possible, and while benchmarks were able to complete, stability testing was something else. Anyway, I ran 3DMark's TimeSpy benchmark to compare the difference:

Overclocked:

Overall, not a bad boost in performance. Two thousand points is roughly 20-25%!
