The numbers look good, the features are yet to be taken advantage of(time will tell), and Crossfire 5870's does not work yet.

From what I have read, when the CrossfireX does become operational it will make the 3x 1920x1080 display support for modern games more playable.

5870 launch..... and no Crossfire?

Sounds like they rushed the launch. Nvidia did the same thing with the GTX295 but they had an excuse: it was already two GPU's.

So remember, Buy a 5870 if it looks good to you and you are willing to pony up the cash. But don't buy two just yet. ;)

I've read 2 reviews with crossfire 5870 results, so i don't know why you said it doesn't work?

Looking forward to TPUs xfire review and more importantly the power results from crossfire 5870s...

Hehehe...Go ATI!!! I've always love ATI graphics card for their innovations with further advanced visual exellence which yet Nvidia lacks.
Does anyone knows for sure regarding the 5800 series uses the "ring-bus" ?
Where is "Ruby" ....the red ninja girl? Is she gone for good? Please bring her back. I've been absent from playing games for the last 1.5 years

The 5870 is powerful but multi GPU scaling across multiple displays are said to be not functional yet.

Its a good card, I am considering getting one. I am just saying the drivers are not very mature at launch. I am not trying to make you offended.

But it works without eyefinity, so i think your edited original post is a little excessive as it does work in crossfire on one monitor. In fact two in crossfire are the fastest graphics setup you can get at the moment.

**edit**

don't worry about offending me, i am just trying to clarify that it does work in crossfire on one monitor as your original post makes it seem that it is not crossfire capable at the moment (which it is).

Edited in the span of eight minutes during a first post in a thread.... take it easy. Watch some Anime and cool down. :ohwell:

I am not attacking ATi, I just appreciate 100% functional launch drivers.

I was pissed when I bought two GTX 295's at launch and Quad SLi didn't work until after the prices started going down.

Eyefinity doesn't work on all games but when Samsung releases the tiny bezel LCD's it will be more than just a gimmick.

Anybody got any word on the prices of those new displays?

*EDIT* BTW why buy two of them for anything but Eyefinity? One 5870 runs any game on the market at max on a single display already. It only struggles when much higher resolution(via eyefinity) are presented. So the only reason to buy two for Crossfire is not there due to driver problems.

That's what she said :p

Is that pic the 5870x2 or just the 5870 eyefinity edition?? I'm hoping the former for the sake of most standard size cases everywhere.

So relax, the review is on its way, and will be up in a few hours. We're going to test:
  • 2x HD 5870 1 GB
  • 2x HD 5850 1 GB
  • 2x HD 58x0 1 GB @ PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (electrical x8)
And you know what, go ahead and pair four HD 5870 accelerators. They'll work.

Are you sure you are still studying in the medical field because I doubt there is enough hours in a day to master both medical and technological at the same time. Its either that or you are actually two people. Or you just don't require sleep.

Its a compliment. ;)

You guys are really putting too much faith in the things you read at TomsHardware.

I go there for information every now and then, but when they're doing their testing and reviews, it's apparent that often they don't know what the hell they're doing.
