ADATA Launches DashDrive Air AV200 Portable Wireless Access Point
ADATA Technology today launches the DashDrive Air AV200, a tiny, portable wireless access point that allows you to wirelessly share music, videos and data from SD cards and USB flash drives across all your devices on the same network.
Just insert a SD card or USB drive into the 60 x 50 x 25 mm ADATA DashDrive Air AV200 and you are ready to share. The AV200 adopts FTP file server/ HTTP Streaming protocol to provide simple 2-way data transfers and sharing between Windows, OS X, iOS and Android devices. It can also act as a portable wireless router with support for 802.11 b/g/n wireless networking, creating a wireless network that can connect to up to 5 devices at the same time wherever there is an internet-connect Ethernet cable. AV200 can also be a personal mini-data center to conveniently share data with mobile devices.A built-in rechargeable battery eliminates the need for an external power source, and is easily recharged with the included mini USB cable. With such convenience and functionality in a small package, the ADATA AV200 is an ideal choice for smart phone, notebook and tablet users who travel frequently.

However, when I was reading the description on this the first thing to come to mind was the Kingston WiDrive:

The major difference would seem to be that the storage isn’t static but rather removable (SD, USB HDD and so on). Bring your own storage is certainly an asset as your not stuck at 16GB or 32GB and you don’t pay extra for that static storage.
One of the problems with the Kingston WiDrive is that the battery charging process is done through USB and when charging it will no longer function wirelessly. You can access the storage via USB but that is limited to the connected system. If you connect via USB to power adapter (rather then PC) you cannot access the unit at all. Also the battery life wasn’t so great on the Kingston WiDrive and it can get really hot.
I hope the DashDrive Air AV200 doesn’t have the same limitations.
