I-O Data Also Unveils Thunderbolt-Enabled USM Portable SSDs
Another product set to be released by I-O Data next month is a storage solution known as the HDUS-TBSSS Series which brings together a portable solid state drive with an USM (Universal Storage Module) interface and an USM to Thunderbolt adapter. This two-component offering makes use of either a 500 GB or 1 TB Samsung 840 EVO SSD and is capable of sequential read/write speeds of 264/240 MB/s.
The USM drive can be used without the Thunderbolt adapter (you'll need to connect it to a device that has USM support) or can be hooked up to an USB 3.0 adapter which, of course, is sold separately. The 500 GB and 1 TB HDUS-TBSSS Series drives come bundled with a 50 cm Thunderbolt cable and cost 72,800 yen (~ 706 USD) and 119,800 (~ 1,163 USD) yen, respectively. In addition to these models I-O Data will also introduce the HDUS-SS Series SSDs which come in 120 GB and 240 GB capacities and only feature the USM interface.
