AMD Releases Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.3.2

AMD made its second release of Radeon Software Crimson Edition for March 2016, with version 16.3.2. The new drivers come with official support for the two popular VR headsets, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. It also adds support for the recently announced Radeon Pro Duo dual-GPU graphics card. The drivers improve CrossFire performance for "Hitman (2016)" in DirectX 11 mode, and "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture." It also fixes critical bugs related to the Radeon R9 Fury, which saw display corruption on system idle mode; and XCOM 2 stuttering.

Such drama for a game that's been out for only a few weeks now? Really?

I know right. Not to mention it is concerning dual GPU setups. This is exactly why I switched to using a single powerful card 9 years ago. Obvious problems will always be obvious...

stardreamer77the R9 Fury display corruption took them 6+ months still didn't Fix the problem... compare to the "The Division" problem... LOL.... the R9 Fury display corruption @ AMD support forum .community.amd.com/thread/188642?start=0&tstart=0
I can confirm that 16.3.2 finally fixed it. My Fury X just flicked briefly during idling in Excel last night. It would have gone corrupted in the past.

Well did to mean to type in such a huge font, Techpower seems to do that for me lately if I just copy paste something and then type under it.
But yeah for a high profile game like this I find it highly unprofessional of AMD to not have fixed this especially when releasing a new version driver.
Its really treating its best customers (those that buy 2 of their cards) as second rate citizens.

I agree. Though I'm not sure the blame lies with AMD or Nvidia for the debacle...I personally blame developers. There have been entirely too many AAA title released lately without proper multi-GPU support. It is 2016, and with 4k gaming on the horizon the only way to get a proper gaming experience in 4k is with multiple cards. I run 3440x1440 @ 75Hz and a single card can still choke down with all the eye candy turned up.

On the note of this driver: It fixed a minor problem I was having with 16.3.1...crossfire in NFS16 was completely botched in that release, and then disabling led to the discovery that it also broke Freesync in the title. This driver release fixed the Freesync issue, but Crossfire is still a complete stuttering disaster, though a single card is smooth as butter.

I am pretty sure AMD & Nvidia are both working on single GPU solutions which can proficiently handle 4K over the next generation or two of cards. Considering where monitors are right now with, they too still have much progress to achieve before everything comes together for a true 4K experience.

With this in mind, I am not holding my breath and just enjoying today's experience without paying premiums to get just a taste of what it will be like. This is how technology has always worked since I have started following it and being a consumer whore just as much as the next guy.

I will admit that I am a little critical of it all. A single 290x "usually" is plenty of juice for most games...but I see certain games that are truly optimized and it is an amazing experience...MGSV comes to mind, but the developer also screwed that one up by not supporting 3440x1440 without modifying the executable.

Are you sure the problem lies with AMD and not the game?
There's only so much they can do to to fix issues for (probably) the smallest percentage of users, if the software is not cooperating.
The best customers are not the ones running dual GPUs, it's the ones who buy a new one every six months :-)

Yeah, but I might jumped the gun according to some sources it is whql and others its not. Not listed as hotfix at amd driver download site.

Well if tis not their fault or something they can fix, why mention that these issues can occur then?
It implies they are aware of a flaw they are working on fixing, if it was not on their end then there would be no need to mention it as their drivers would be perfect.
And what about the customers that buy 2 GPU's every six months? ;)

you may be having a problem with some updates that install some dlls from win 10 on win 7, i had a similar problem with a system i built a month ago, the solution for me was to format the drive and install the drivers before connecting to the internet.

This is happening after the July release of drivers. No way to format HDD.
I tried to install them manually but I can't.

well, if your problem is similar to what i faced, then formatting is the only choice, i tried everything else if i remember correctly. did you try a rollback of win?
