NVIDIA Outs GeForce 364.96 Hotfix Drivers

NVIDIA released today its latest "Hotfix" GeForce drivers that add optimization for an unannounced game and a minor GeForce Experience-related bug. To begin with, GeForce 364.96 Hotfix driver comes with optimization (read: "support") for DOOM: Open Beta. Don't expect SLI support on this game's OpenGL-based engine, though. The drivers also address a bug with GeForce Experience that caused it to not open correctly without an active Internet connection.

Weird, I've tried the Beta and according to afterburner monitor Both my 970's were showing even utilisation at 70-80%, running at 1080p with TAA + FXAA enabled, as if SLI support was actually working and I was getting a solid 50-60fps.

Can only assume its a reporting error with Afterburner in OpenGL???

They should better begin working on that extremely laggy UI that the GeForce Experience Tool has. This is just rediculous. But I guess this seems unlikely since the normal control panel is horribly lagging since forever and no one is actually addressing that either.

I just can't get my head around why they call that thing Geforce Experience?! The AMD PR-Team couldn't come up with a better name for that just to diss Nvidia.

Does anyone know a way to utilize ShadowPlay without GFE?

It's likely that multi-GPU support was built into the engine, Carmack probably would not have overlooked something like that. There won't be SLI profiles for Doom since it's not a DirectX game.

Nope, GFE required. However, if it's just in your taskbar, and if you have set up hotkey commands for Shadowplay, it could eliminate the need to go into GFE if it's that slow.

I am only guessing, since I use Shadowplay with only a hotkey to record, and have the UI open since it's not laggy for me.

Using just hotkeys is working fine, but trying to enter the settings or just switching between the tabs in GFE is laggy. The app just freezes for a few seconds before it continues to load the requested tab or menu item.

been using ShadowPlay via GFE for almost a year now... never had issues so far on my rig... for laptops, best to ditch GFE entirely since it's not stable on most GTX mobile chips with Optimus tech.

It's not ShadowPlay that worries me, it's the GFE UI itself. ShadowPlay is working fine...

Gfe isnt laggy for me,but nvidia ctrl pnl IS. I was one of those who couldnt launch ge without internet, and sometimes even with....they also need to resolve the damn update notification for ge, i have to check or apply updatesb3 or more times just to get it to recognize that updates are no longer available.

Carmack was kidnapped by aliens 10 years ago, and the 60fps locking shapeshifter facebooker creature they left on earth had nothing to do with the latest idtech engine used in beteshDOOM.

Eh, Carmack left after completing most of the work on id Tech 6 engine.

nVidia HotFix drivers seem to have a better track record than their WHQL drivers, heh.

Carmack doesn't work for ID ..

and ID are owned by Bethesda Softworks who hack things together.

So how knows what will be in doom...

Considering they own the majority of the market, we shouldn't need to look at their forums if they were truly card killers.

Thing is, we'd be hearing about it here also. Hell, RejZoR is usually the first on new drivers, and he tells us immediately if it's effed up.

We'd also be hearing it on OCN, Tom's, Guru3-D, maybe even Tweaktown.

Also they would delete the faulty drivers from the internet, preventing anyone from using them & alarming everyone to do so.

SLI profiles or not, multi-GPU support has to be explicitly implemented into the game engine for both Direct3D and OpenGL. So the developers are to blame, not Nvidia or AMD.

there are a few posts/threads on various forums but they all mostly point to ONE reddit post, which points to a geforce driver feedback thread, where ONE 690 gave up the ghost.

now, granted there is a buttload of win10 w/multimonitor issues reported; which seems coincidental that VR is indroduced in this driver branch BUT:

I think this driver fixed the problem I had with my driver stopped working when I was using Windows Photo Viewer, bcs installing this hotfix together with changing from Raid to ACHI on my Asus Z170i Pro Gaming board fixed my crash I dunno why the default was raid
