Creative Rolls Out Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus Gaming Sound Card
Creative rolled out the Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus, a discrete internal sound card with PCIe interface. The card is a step up from the Sound BlasterX AE-5, and is positioned below the AE-7 the company debuted in June 2019. The new AE-5 Plus uses the same Sound Core 3D audio processor as the rest of the AE series, but with an ESS Sabre Ultra DAC carried over from the AE-5, which offers 122 dB SNR, sound resolution of 32-bit 384 kHz, and 0.00032% total harmonic distortion. Much like the AE-5, it lacks user-replaceable OPAMPs. What sets the AE-5 Plus apart is support for Dolby Digital Live and DTS encoding, just like the AE-7 and AE-9, which is something the original AE-5 lacks. It also only comes in a black color-scheme, unlike the AE-5. The company didn't reveal pricing, although we expect it to be around 10-15% pricier than the $149 AE-5.

Regardless, you were completely incorrect. Creative has NEVER charged money for driver downloads. Ever.
Not sure if DanielK has fixed this issue yet or not.
BTW, Welcome to TPU! I believe he has.
Edit: DanielK updated his pack - time to play. Cant believe the 2ZS is still viable after 15 (?) years!!!!
Though I feel it's very sensitive to high frequency noise that I never experienced with the old model, I need to look into this Spread Spectrum setting though...
Thanks for the welcome!
Something weird happened. As I mentioned, the 1st time I updated to Win10 2004, it never could recognize my XFI Titanium HD card so I has to switch back to 1909. Now, yesterday, as I heard about the tweaked Daniel K drivers which you say work with my card, I decided this morning to try 2004 again. Well, guess what, I don't even need Daniel K's drivers, Windows recognize the card and it works fine. Really weird.
In fact, the only annoying thing is that the Creative Console Launcher will always launch on Game Mode while I want it in Entertainment Mode after a reboot. Settings seem to have not saved, but in fact are cause the sound is the same as the last time I had tweaked them. Anyone knows a fix for this?
Thanks.
The ae-9 is £250 over here in britain, my budget for an external dac is £300 - £500.
What do you think, is there a good multichannel dac at this price. Do you have any experience or have heard anything anywhere.
Many thanks.
