E-curbilol. Lots of Intel engineers I'm sure feel the same way. lol

They won't discontinue CML by Q4 2020

But they will replace it. RKL coming soon! +20% IPC  (maybe +25%)

cucker tarlsonwhy ? does a cooler affect boost behavior ?
If the fan is quiet, you don't notice the oscillations in the fans.

Yes. Higher temps increase power usage, which can limit max boost clocks, and too high of temperatures can limit boost as well.

IME the stock wraith cooler did the job OK on the 1700, but it got up into the low 80c range after about half an hour. The chip seemed to not want to hit max boost once you hit 80c,a nd there was zero OC headroom. And it was loud as hell. The 2700x can boost another 300 ish mhz above stock boost speeds, but you cant do that with the stock cooler, it will run too hot and shut down. Even with a 120mm AiO it gets kinda toasty.

The stock intel cooler struggled with keeping quad cores under 70C, and on the newer 10th gens the new boost clocks are only available under 65C temps. I wouldnt want to run a hex/octo core with that POS.

And even if a stock cooler *can* allow max stock boosts, OC boosts are ususally out of the picture, and they get really, really loud compared to a more expensive cooler. A good noctua or AiO will run 20-30C cooler while being whisper quiet.

The most welcome improvement with the 8th gen was the move from 2c4t to 4c8t on mobile.

A huge upgrade that was long overdue.

If it were truly cancelled, there would be no 9th gen or 10th gen... Think about it people ;-)
