Xbox Series X Pre-Orders Also Out of Stock; Xbox One X Sales Skyrocket

In the latest episode of "next-generation gaming issues", the Xbox Series X console pre-order has also seen its stock depleted from all online merchants. Following issues with both the RTX 3080 and PS5 supplies, now it's the time for Microsoft to be in the spotlight, as the question of low stock or fundamentally impressive demand arises once again. This is likely an answer we won't ever have; however, it also has to be said that there is plenty of time for stocks to be replenished for both Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Sony's PlayStation 5 before their respective launches. I wouldn't worry too much for now.

At the same time as Xbox Series X pre-orders made stock go the way of the dodo, the usual scalpers have already surfaced on the common secondhand marketplaces, looking to sell their "pre-order" confirmed consoles for prices that usually sit around at double the MSRP (set at $499 by Microsoft). Remember to not let yourself be a part of this chain; save yourself money, and be part of the solution to scalpers by not engaging with their offerings. You still have time to secure your console.
in related news, another warning: be careful with what you're ordering. The Amazon page for the Xbox One X (Microsoft's previous generation flagship console, not to be confused with the next-gen Xbox Series X) has seen an uptick in popularity in the order of 747%. One can hope this is the work of bots misordering consoles due to their similar names and the fact that both consoles tend to come up in searches for Xbox Series X. However, some of these could be the result of less knowledgeable (or less attentive) users (or parents of users) thinking they're purchasing the upcoming console. Unless interest has just exploded two months before the next-gen launch, which is doubtful, to say the least. Always double-check your order before committing.

Who buys those overpriced consoles on eBay? There is no point the consoles are still more than a month away.

I like to wait to see if any technical issues arise on the first few batches of consoles as well as give it some time for games that take full advantage of the hardware to come out.

Man, I feel bad for the kids (and their parents) that are getting a Xbox One X rather than a Xbox Series X.

This launch really sucked. Stayed online all day and all sites kept crashing and when they came up everything was sold out. And non of the local stores were allowed to do pre-orders. It was online only. :banghead:

XOX isn't even manufactured anymore, skyrocketing means nothing at this point.

The same thing will happen to RDNA2 and CP2077 may crash on launch day. It is a new world and these are the manifestations of that.

740% from what level? Unless they give specific stats this still means nothing. Sure, it makes for a good headline but nothing more than that.

I do agree that people can be easily confused by MS' branding. PS wins with this, no questions about it.

You probably lucked out. The first batch could have some horrible manufacturing defect that would have required almost all of the initial purchasers to RMA.
Or the reviews will come out for Series X and Playstation 5 and all of the same games will be 20% faster on Playstation 5, versus Series X, due to hardware variations
or something. Trust me, count your blessings.

It's a pre-order, how can it be out of stock if it's not even in stock yet? :banghead:

Lol, my local game shop EB Games lists it for Pre-order, then says it's Pre sold out, like that's a thing.
