Pat Gelsinger Becomes CEO of Intel

Today marks Intel's official CEO transition as Pat Gelsinger becomes the company's eighth chief executive officer in its history. Gelsinger is an accomplished CEO and industry veteran with more than four decades of technology and leadership experience - including 30 years at Intel, where he began his career.

Gelsinger shared his thoughts on returning to lead the company, saying:
"As the incoming CEO, I am just really thrilled that we have the opportunity to take this great icon of a company, this company that has been crucial to every aspect of technology, and have it be that leader again into the future. Because I believe that Intel has a treasure trove of technologists, of technology, and ultimately its core DNA is being that technology leader for the future. I'm just thrilled as a technologist, as a geek at heart, to be able to be in that leadership role to help bring the passions, the history, the opportunity of this great company forward as never before. Our best days are in front of us."

Pat's going to have a lot of work ahead of him to right that ship, it's been rudderless for quite some time.

There should be the old CEO exiting the building, or the new one entering, not the new one exiting.

Pat is my father's cousin, so my second-cousin. I've never met Pat though. I asked my dad about him and he hasn't seen him since he first started working at Intel afte he graduated from LTI. He must be worth some money now, and one of only two famous Gelsingers in recent memory, the other being my cousin Jessie who died from some of the first experimental gene therapy back in the late 90s.

I agree. There is a lot on his plate to try to turn the company around.

I think they made a good choice. Pat has a great reputation and track record. You have to go digging to find it, but it's there to be seen.

"The company's DNA" is such an outdated expression, reminds me of the 20- noughties. In fact, if you use that term today, then Intel's DNA is old and stale, and requires some stem-cell injection with a little mRNA.

Seriously, a CEO using that out of date buzzword lingo is already out of date.

So my understanding of that speech is that Pat really likes the word technology.
