Microsoft Boss Teases "Next Generation of Windows" Announcement "Very Soon"

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella took to the Build Conference to announce "an imminent announcement" on the "next generation of Windows". The Microsoft CEO said that we should be expecting news on a revamped Windows experience that aims to be "one of the most significant updates to Windows of the past decade to unlock greater economic opportunity for developers and creators". There was no word on when we can expect such an announcement - or even available deployment of such version of windows - but considering this was done during the Build Conference, it makes sense that we actually won't be hearing about this until after the end of the Conference.

It's expected that this "next generation of Windows" comes with a revamped Windows store experience - which we already know Microsoft was prioritizing as of late. At the same time, the new version of windows could possess a radical new interface aesthetic redesign, pushing it more into the digital render space we've been slowly walking towards. Whatever this update actually encompasses, according to Satya Nadella, we won't have to wait too long for it. Look after the break for the excerpt on the release of this "new Windows".

What about the people using the OS, anything there for us, or are we just tools to mine and sell data about and put everything behind a walled garden paywall store, and if the latter happens it will stop being a usable operating system

As with most things nowadays, it's all about the MOOHLAH

And also as usual, they (MS) don't really give a rats ass about the end users, since we haven't been paying for Windblows for several years now.

Anybody wanna guess what this "nex-gen" version is gonna cost us ?

don't get down on yourself just yet... maybe they are going to finally follow through on that long awaited game specific variant OS they hinted at in past... though I doubt it, that idea was probably scrapped. would be horrible if they lost out on telemetry data in exchange for higher fps in games

I will just wait a year or so before downloading it. I will let the people buy the version and be used by MS as beta testers.

I've been using 8.1 on modern efi machines and 7 on machines that has support for it. Despite what people think of 8.1 it at least is consistently subpar, where win 10 will range anywhere from "could be better" to "absolutely unusable".

I'm not sure if this is satire or sarcasm, but you are completely right.
Advertising is how to get money out from people. What was the function for television and news anyways?
Internet is much the same, we can only move onto alternatives. It is not like gaming is productive for majority of us, so it may be worth tinkering with machines and install Linux distros for productive purpose. And for programs that needs windows, workaround can be used (e.g. to get office 2019 on win7/8/8.1 where it is not supported by installer)

So when Microsoft going to fix inconsistence UI mess and duplicate application?? And when they are going to bring back the Reader PDF application? And also when we going to have different colour other than white on white, on right click menus in File Explorer or any other menu?

No, Mac atleast has consistence UI and design language throughout the OS. Same cannot be said for Windows, not even for native Windows application.
