AMD Cuts MSRPs of Radeon RX 6000 Series Graphics Cards

AMD has come up with new MSRPs for its Radeon RX 6000 series RDNA2 graphics cards, in a bid to better compete against NVIDIA's RTX 30-series high-end cards, as the product lifecycles of both companies draw to a close. The new price list was finalized on September 15, and is beginning to take effect in popular online retailers. The latest prices see the top Radeon RX 6950 XT at $949, and the RX 6900 XT $699. The latter offers better value, as it's within 5% of the RX 6950 XT, while being $250 cheaper. The RX 6800 XT drops to $599, which makes it $100 cheaper still than the RX 6900 XT, while being within 5% relative performance. If you can find an RX 6800 (non-XT), its MSRP is set at $549.

MSRP cuts also take effect on performance-segment and mid-range SKUs. The RX 6750 XT is now a $419 SKU, and the RX 6700 XT is just $379. Both cards perform in the league of the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070, making them interesting SKUs to consider. The RX 6650 XT, which replaces the RX 6600 XT from the product stack, is priced at $299. If you can find an RX 6600 XT, it should start around the $239-mark. The entry-level RX 6500 XT and RX 6400 are finally under the $200-mark where they belong, with the RX 6500 XT going for $169, and the RX 6400 at $149. NVIDIA already debuted its RTX 40-series "Ada" graphics cards, but only at the very high-end, with the RTX 4090 expected to go on sale mid-October, at $1,600. AMD's next generation will be unveiled on November 3.

ModEl4You meant 6650XT or 6600?
So 6800XT is only -7% slower than 6900XT and you're choosing 6900XT instead despite being 16.7% more expensive?
Correct, 6800XT is the bargain. And I mean 6600XT for $239.

AMD did not really cut any msrp, $549 was the release price of the rx6800. You can check it here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radeon_RX_6000_series , it says "November 18, 2020 $579 USD" but many shops sold at 549$. After almost 2 years msrp still at 549 usd, disgusting, nvidia is no different, their rtx 4090 msrp price is absurd. We need more gpu manufactures that are not based in china anymore, chinese gpu manufactures have become a mafia.

dyonoctisGood for you Americans...meanwhile the EU will welcome those official price cut. Gpu price are still insane here
Just checked, the RX 6700 XT pricing is closer to what AMD deems for the RX 6800 (but OC variants are priced the same or above the RX 6800 XT), here.
Sure, VAT and other charges are different and/or exist, but it does not make a "Max 1440p" card seem like it's reasonably priced. More so regarding the "Max 1080p" entries.

bugThis is not necessarily good news. It's purely speculation on my part, but since Nvidia seems confident they can clear stock at current prices and AMD doesn't, it could mean AMD needs to clear the current price points because they plan to sell RDNA3 at those price points. And you don't sell for cheaper than competition if you can match them in performance.
This would be true if Nvidia's prices weren't utter insanity. If AMD prices the RX 7000 series to match the 6000 series, it's not like they're cutting deep into their margins for this - that would just be them not following Nvidia upwards. Which, to be honest, it would be mind-boggling if they did. Your logic applies to a price drop, but not the absence of a price hike.

There is no 6600XT. It was replaced by the 6650xt. The vanilla non-xt 6600 is $239. The article has a typo that has not been fixed. Check the pricing graphic.

If I remember correctly I saw before one week the following prices (condition=new, price after rebates)
3090Ti $999
3080Ti $779
6800XT $579 ($559 now)
6800 $529
6750XT $409
6700XT $359
6650XT $279
6600 $229
Imo if you take these price points (for entry level models) I wouldn't buy above the below street prices:

6950XT$7593090Ti$999
6900XT$6593090$919
6800 XT$5593080Ti$759
6800$4993080 12G$659
6750XT$4093080 10G$609
6700XT$3593070Ti$519
6700$3093070$449
6650XT$2793060Ti$379
6600XT$2693060$299
6600$2293050$219

Edit:the logic is the following:

Already we have $559 6800XT and $999 3090Ti street prices!
3090 is -8% slower in 4K than 3090Ti so $919 otherwise just buy 3090Ti.
The official price difference between RX6800XT and RX6800 was $70 (+12%) so RX6800 $499 otherwise just buy 6800XT at $559 since it's 14% faster at 4K.
3070Ti launched after RX6800 and Nvidia judged that it must be +20$ ($599-$579) (i think it must be lower but just go with Nvidia's price positioning) so if RX6800 is $499 then 3070Ti $519 max. (which i don't know who is going to buy it with RX6800XT being only $40 more expensive)
If 3070Ti is $519 then 3080 10GB must be according to Nvidia ($699/$599) $609 (and $50 more than 6800XT price, just like at launch).
Since 6800XT has $559 street price and from now on the official 6900XT difference is just $100, then 6900XT max at $659.
6950XT was just 10% more expensive or +$100 from 6900XT according to AMD before, so now it must be max $759 to make sense.
Nvidia before one month judged that 3080Ti SRP must match 6950XT's SRP so 3080Ti at $759 also.
If RX6900XT is at $659 and 3080Ti at $759 then 3080 12GB must match RX6900XT price and be -$100 from 3080Ti so $659 (and +$50 above 3080 10GB)
With RX 6800 being at $499 a fair price, 3070 must be at least $50 less otherwise it just don't make sense at all, so max at $449. (-$70 from 3070Ti)
So what was $100 difference (3070Ti-3070) now is $70 and with the same logic 3070-3060Ti must be $70 so 3060Ti at $379 max (i know $20 higher than 6700XT isn't that great but there are the Nvidia's s/w and feature set advantages and also 6750XT is at $409 (+$50 from 6700XT).
If 3070 goes to $379, then 3060 should have been something like $309 ($399/$329) but there is pressure from 6650XT which already has $279 street price, RX6700 and also demand saw us that Nvidia fans greatly prefer 3060Ti with only $70 difference because it's much faster, so let's say $299 for 3060 in order to break the psychological $300 barrier at least.
If 3060 goes to $299 (-$30) and with RX6600 already at $229 street price then 3050 must also drop $30 to $219 in order to be at least $10 cheaper from RX6600. (It's not going to happen anyway, especially since Nvidia is using AD106, but this is not what makes sense for the manufacturer but for us)
There are also other trivial models like 6600XT (-$10 from 6650XT in order to make sense) and the low volume 6700 (-$50 from 6700XT , +$30 from 6650XT)
HD64GCorrect, 6800XT is the bargain. And I mean 6600XT for $239.

And to think less than a year ago I sold my 5700XT for $600(paid $425) and one of my RTX 3080's for $1300 (system pull ~$900), AFTER they made around $2000 in Bitcoin for me.

I gave my main RTX 3080 to my oldest, got myself an A2000. Just need to upgrade my other boy off his RX 580, but definitely going to let this stuff shake out first.

6800 XT has better or equal perf than a 3080 yet it has always been cheaper.

In what way is it "late"? Do you have any better alternatives for A SINGLE of the listed cards?

Wait for RDNA3 cards in November or buy one of these if it meets your needs.

I suspect (late) November will bring green style "even higher end" and keep 6xxx for some time.

ModEl4I'm not saying that the $100 difference makes the 6900XT a bad deal just that if you are going to recommend as best bargains from AMD's lineup, how can you recommend 6900XT over 6800XT for 99% of the users?
Depending the yields that AMD has for Navi21 it may be a fair offer but in no way better than 6800XT!
Hey, you do not need to convince me. I have 6800XT SE at home from Sapphire.
99% od users is almost everyone and noone. That's why I said there are other factors individual user needs to consider. My friend architect would go for 6900XT, for this little extra ooomph, to save a few minutes in rendering. Just saying.

In a normal world, yes, but not in a world of nvidia fans who buy blindly without caring about the performance or anything specific.
They know nvidia only and buy nvidia only..

ARF7% over 30 FPS is nothing, nothing at all. 2 FPS. I don't think anyone cares about 7% higher performance.

From the above listing with pricings, I would label the RX 6900/6950 XT 16 GB as no-goes.
Shame we have only gaming performance analysis on TUP. Difference is 8-10 fps on average across resolutions. Most importantly, at the time of testing, they did not test very demanding games, such as Cyberpunk or Flight Simulator. So, for most gamers 6800XT from AMD is a better deal. It might be different from some AIBs, depending on clocks.

Other workloads would be useful to see. This is where 6900XT could be a better deal some creators.

I'm in the market for a new GPU, and here in Brazil AMD seems to be cheaper. The last AMD card I had was an HD4850 (2009), but it left a bad taste since the drivers would crash all the time up to the point the GPU started showing artifacts and I bought an GTS 450 just to have some capacity. Prices here in Brazil are crazy, so I would like to ask people that are familiar with current AMD drivers, are they good? If I were to buy a 6800XT, would I be making a sensible decision?

it is a fine card if you get it for a reasonable price, personally eyeing the slightly less extreme 6800, drivers are perfectly fine, they had a bit of a bad time when the rx5000 came out but its been a while since then.

That said personally I will wait a bit to see what RX7000 will offer, it wont be that long before we know, but....if I can find an rx6800 for a good price, 330 euro or so, I might just jump on that.

Yeah, without a question I'll be waiting until 7000 series launches before making any decision. But since it's a lot of money to me it's important I make a good decision regarding drivers and longevity.

I was talking about entry level models like MSI Ventus, Gigabyte Eagle, Asrock Challenger, PowerColor Fighter series etc.
But i would expect better quality models to be within reason, for example the excellent Asrock Phantom Gaming is also to least expensive RX 6800 XT at $559 after rebates!
