This Week in Gaming (Week 3)

Three weeks into the new year and another week without any big game releases, although SEGA/Atlus is about to release updated versions of Persona 3 and 4, which ends up being the most well known game releases this coming week. That said, there are a couple of other potentially interesting games coming out, so check out the full list for more details on those.

WW2 Rebuilder / Monday January 16
It's 1945. It's the end of World War II, the war that left a mark. Now people like you have to leave their hometowns to rebuild their countries. Motivated by different reasons, they get set on the same quest - to repair and renovate places completely destroyed during the war.
Surviving the Abyss / Tuesday January 17
Earth, 1976. The cold war is in full swing and you have been tasked to construct and direct a deep sea research facility working to perfect human cloning. Survive against the odds in the unforgiving abyss maintaining oxygen, power, food, and much more to keep your crew alive. Discover and mine resources for construction, light your way in the dark, and expand into your surroundings to advance your research.
Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden / Wednesday January 18
Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden will offer vivid, high-definition depictions and smooth performance, reborn from the original versions. If I say there's an hour "hidden" between one day and the next... would you believe me? Master the power of the heart, Persona, and uncover the tragic truth of the Dark Hour.
Tortuga - A Pirate's Tale / Thursday January 19
Ready to set sail? Then weigh anchor in your almighty ship and cast your eyes upon the glory that awaits you in Tortuga - A Pirate's Tale. It is not only your ship that must be improved but also your crew. As you encounter historical pirate captains, you must choose wisely when you decide who is friend or foe.
Avernus / Friday January 20
Avernus is a challenging action-adventure game where you take control of a reanimated guardian—empowered by the final spark of a dead god—who must brave the increasingly dangerous, labyrinthine halls of a hostile tomb.

We do this every week, fourh time we've posted it so far, as it was a bit dead between christmas and new years.
As this is a PC focused site, there won't be any Switch specific games, but obviously some games will be supported on all platforms.

I'd wait for Skull and Bones. The pirate game here looks a bit janky.

Have you seen Gameloft's MS store offerings?

Not bad for F2P single player games.

P4G was released in 2020 on PC. PC is getting an update to match it to the version being released now on consoles. P3P is not the FES version, it has some improvements over it, however some content has been cut/gimped in comparison to the old PS2 version. Looking forward to someone modding the hell out of it to make a hybrid P3P/FES version.
Anyway, P4G is gets my recommendation, as it's great to jump in and doesn't suffer so much from dated gameplay mechanics as P3.

I'm guessing not much releases in January because if it was 'almost done' enough for a January release, most publishers will rush developers into releasing a half-baked version in time for the holidays instead.
I wish that weren't true but enough of my university friends have worked for enough developers over the years to build up a unanimous verdict that all publishers are asshats.

I know that expectations are low for the game, but Forspoken is coming out next week. That's the only big budget release for the month, though. Next month's gonna be stacked, at least.

Very possible, but I guess things like that matters less and less with most games being digital downloads these days.

I'll add that to the post on Sunday.

Yeah, some little games but they are far from games like AC Black Flag, Sea of Thieves (better not go alone into this xD), King of Seas (which is a fun little game and it was gifted by Amazon if you had Prime, last month I think).

Well, this one will be released this month :D
