Cooler Master and D-BOX Team up for an Innovative Haptic Gaming Chair

Cooler Master, the high-performance component and peripherals brand, today announced it worked with D-BOX to produce its latest entry into the gaming chair market, The Motion 1 Haptic Gaming Chair. Cooler Master and D-BOX are currently present at the 2023 Game Developers Conference—GDC, taking place in San Francisco, from March 20 to 24, 2023. We invite all gaming studios to experience the Motion 1 haptic gaming chair at booth P1679 (Games from Quebec)

Motion 1 is the world's first haptic engine gaming chair developed in collaboration with D-BOX, a worldwide leader in haptic technology. Motion 1 is engineered to provide haptic feedback to your games and entertainment. Feel the bullets strafing your canopy in your favorite air battle movie, ocean waves crashing into your boat during a raid in Assassin's Creed Valhalla or the gentle tug as you accelerate in your favorite racing game. It's an entirely new dimension of realistic feedback that enhances your gaming and entertainment in a premium package replete with ergonomic comfort.
"Cooler Master has always been at the forefront of gaming gear, always listening to users for their feedback on future products," said Jimmy Sha, Cooler Master CEO. "The Motion 1 delivers gaming immersion our customers have been hoping for."

"With more than 20 years' experience, D-BOX is considered a veteran in the field haptics. The Cooler Master Motion 1 chair is suitable for a wide variety of games and for all players," said Sébastien Mailhot, President and CEO of D-BOX. "The versatile design developed by Cooler Master provides unparalleled comfort for working, gaming and for watching movies. D-BOX is very pleased to collaborate with a company known worldwide for the quality of its products and for its commitment to the industry."

The Motion 1 can produce more than 65,000 motion waves to create a sense of presence that complements what you see and hear. All of this is done in a chair designed for comfort: natural pivoting, rocking, reclining work with magnetic lumbar and headrests to deliver the latest ergonomics. And, with Adaptive Gaming and Adaptive Audio Modes, gamers feel every punch, recoil and more in PC games. With Adaptive Audio Mode, gamers can experience textures and vibrations based on a game's audio. However, with our new Adaptive Gaming Mode, gamers can create game profiles that provide haptic feedback based on actions that they trigger through their keyboard, mouse or game controller. By the end of the summer, gamers will be able to use a combination of these two modes, creating an optimal, hyper-realistic haptic experience for every PC game—not just the games coded specifically by D-BOX.

I feel like they've been trying to push this concept since the Aura Interactor for the SNES and Sega Genesis (that's right, Genesis, NOT mega drive, haha) and it never catches on...perhaps because nobody really wants it?

honestly if the price was not insane, like maybe $399 or $499 I'd genuinely be interested. it will be interesting to see what the price comes in at... prob above my budget though.

If you would have asked me to imagine a chair that had shat itself, I would have not been able to come up with an image....until now.

Supposedly it'll start at 4x your highest price... That's from a sneak peek from the middle of last year, so it'll most likely cost even more now. It's also at least a quarter late to market.

Almost missed this! I was just about to bring it up too! With that outta the way, I remember telling my dad I wanted one of these to use with Mortal Kombat II on the Genesis. The conversation went something like....

Dad: "What does it do?"
Me: "It shakes and makes vibrations when you get hit and stuff!"
Dad: "It costs how much?! Geeze, I can do that for FREE!"
*Proceeds to pick me up and shake me about like a spray paint can as we both giggle like school girls*

lol I must have been like 10yrs old

If I had a child and they asked me for this chair......I can see me reacting the same way my dad did
point being, these things are usually too much for someone who doesn't have money burning a hole in their pocket

same thought here. I'm sure it's neat....but likely nowhere neat enough to justify whatever the surely eye watering price will be

Hasn't started shipping yet because nobody in their right mind would own this. Plus, nobody is ready for the "gaming chair had sex with an electric wheelchair" look :D

If they marketed this to the VR porn industry it would probably me more successful than the Gamer PC market.
