AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D Gets a Steep Retailer Price Cut to $499

AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D, the 12-core/24-thread Socket AM5 processor that's been playing middle-child to the popular 8-core 7800X3D and 16-core 7950X3D flagship, just got a major retailer price-cut. It can now be had for as low as $499, down from its launch price of $599. The chip could be briefly available last month at $549. The $499 price is available on Newegg, where the chip is listed at $589.99, but with the promo-code "MDSCS2343," that shaves $90 off, you arrive at $499. The Ryzen 9 7900X3D is a 12-core/24-thread processor featuring 3D Vertical Cache technology on one of its two CCDs. The processor hence has 128 MB of L3 cache, besides 1 MB of dedicated L2 cache per core.

pretty fast processor and i believe its better to offload stock than keeping the prices high and selling slowly..
that way retailers can stock less and amd can cut production numbers and use the money for r n d for next cpu

This, and I just dont get it at all tbh, what is there to gain by playing the game like this....

Like why does AMD not snatch up the oppertunity and sell the 7600 for 230 euro.... it would be a very very decent choice, probably get a good amount of praise and it will sell, get some of that marketshare and in the end maybe get some fans for future products...
How does releasing it as is now help them....

Nvidia is just being Nvidia, like apple, they just do whatever and it somehow works out, but AMD....yeah that is just super weird imo.

Intel should also drop ARC a lot more, just gain some more users before the products are obsolete and that point is getting closer and closer...

yes because we know that's how tech giants, AMD included usually operates /s

this is the market straight up disappearing below their feet

If I could get cheap Intel 7 gen computer CPU, memory, motherboard I'd be happy.

Nvidia just published the latest financial report. Although revenue is down, as it was for the past year, they are proclaiming the bad days are over, and that AI demand will push the new record gtowth, starting next quarter!

They also said that for the past several quarters, but this time market somehow believes it and the stock is going to stratosphere!

It will be a hard correction if they don't actually deliver.

i saw the financials, profits went up even for the consumer gpu market.
Prices are insanely high so i believe they are making a killing on the 4080 and 4090, profit margins should be insane. But in sales numbers they should be taking a world class beating and it will only get worst with the shitty releases of 4070 and 4060 class cards. Can they survive just selling to the deep pocket customers?

I've got an AMD 3600x you could have, but don't know about sending it halfway across the globe

Nobody who did his homework is going to buy this thing, even for $499. They should just ditch one CCD, call it 7700X3D and slap a sticker of $333 on it.

Sure the is not much future proofing in a 6core chip, but it would totally fly of the shelfs like the legendary 5600X, the budget gamer king.

Maybe you should watch the Level 1 review of the 7900X3d and understand why even with all the bias all the user (paid) reviews for the chip are 90% 5 stars. I have one of these and in no way do I miss my 5800X3D.

Well, I am not saying the 7900X3D is a bad chip. ;) But you can get the 7800X3D for way less, and it performs better in games. Plus consumes less power.

It's just a super "niche" product that doesn't make any sense to buy for the most users. Esp. in the current market conditions.

I would argue even that claim the the 7800X3D is faster in Games but I can tell you it (7900X3D) feels way snappier than a 5950X. I am actually blown away when I see 1.2 volts at 5.7/5.2 GHZ. There is a narrative that the 2nd CCD does not help in Games but that is also not true in fact RTS Games love the 7900X3D for supreme 1% lows. Actually for me if you are a Gamer and can afford it 24 cores in Task Manager is way better than 16. To have that many cores pull under 80 Watts to achieve that is crazy to see. The efficiency of AM5 is real and the 7900X3D is better than even the 7900 at that so to say the 7800X3D consumes more power is not really an issue. The only other thing I would add is that I wonder what all the stuttering issues are in modern Games as I don't see it with my Setup so maybe the extra cores are actually doing something. I am not knocking TPU but I don't feel that they are presenting proper numbers for AMD unless using AM5. There is a Level1 video for the 7600 and they use a 7700 and their numbers are better.

nvidia at this point can (easily) survive discarding the GPU segment. Ever read news?

Heared that quite often here and there, with no valid data to back it up. :) There is always some advancements from architecture to architecture, but the difference shouldn't be really noticable. What is measurable however is that the 7x00X3D's got way better 1% lows, so maybe that's what you're feeling, the X3D "turbo boost". Input lag is what happens between the mouse, the CPU, the GPU & at the end of the chain is the monitor. So it begs the question, did you only replace the CPU or anything else in the chain? The GPU would make the biggest difference.

You can limit the power on this chip a lot. In fact when doing so one video I saw I think actually showed it as the most energy efficient chip AMD has ever produced.

$50 is not a lot when you are in the $400-$500 range.

You might be slightly better off with the 7800x3d for gaming but then on the flip side the 7900x3d is better at everything else. So really for the price overall it could be argued that overall it is the best chip for those that aren't just gaming but also have other work loads. At least at this price point.

7900XT on water and replaced a 5800X3D with 3600 15 timings 32GB RAM and my new system is only running at 5200 Mhz so there is more performance to be had. I also am on pure NAND for my storage array.

Sorry my mouse is a G700 from when NCIX was still around.

So I am enjoying my rig to the max right now. Fridays are reserved for Gaming and this is why I enjoy it so much

This was the part they should never of made, once they made the descision not to v-cache both CCXs this SKU was doomed.

Yep a CPU that runs at 87 Watts max with 12 cores 24 threads, an I/O die and IGPU at 5.7 GHZ for the CPU and 2100 Mhz for the GPU. This chip is so efficient that it would work with a B620 board just fine. As far as Gaming goes it is the fastest Gaming chip I have ever owned and that includes the 5800X3D.
