This Week in Gaming (Week 40)

As we enter October—as well as autumn in the northern hemisphere—things kick off with a fairly big AAA release that involves assassins. The rest of the week is full of new games that range from lighting lamps to choo-choos and exploring unknown galaxies, to thieves and sword action to some kind of ice related sport. In other words, yet another jam packed week of new releases to look forward to.

Assassin's Creed Mirage / This week's AA title / Thursday 5 October
Experience the story of Basim, a cunning street thief with nightmarish visions, seeking answers and justice as he navigates the bustling streets of ninth-century Baghdad. Through a mysterious, ancient organization known as the Hidden Ones, he will become a deadly Master Assassin and change his fate in ways he never could have imagined.
Nuwa / Monday 2 October
Nuwa is a sci-fi strategy game that focuses on the creation of creatures. You will pilot the spaceship Nuwa, to explore an unknown galaxy, witness the wonders of bizarre animals and the remains of civilizations, look for habitable planets for human immigration, and create creatures to help you transform the planet's environment.
The Lamplighters League / This week's AA title / Tuesday 3 October
Recruit a team of misfits with unique abilities and unforgettable personalities, and chase the Banished Court to the ends of the earth in a mix of real-time infiltration, turn-based tactical combat, and a character-driven story of adventure and intrigue.
Station to Station / Tuesday 3 October
'Station to Station' is a minimalist & relaxing game about building railway connections. Grab your conductor's hat and bring the voxel-art world to life through the magic of trains!
Thief Simulator 2 / Wednesday 4 October
The door to your robber's career is waiting! Just crowbar the lock off and force your way through the threshold. Learn skills, collect tools and become a master of the thieving trade!
Sword Art Online Last Recollection / Thursday 5 October
Based on Sword Art Online's War of Underworld anime arc, a new story unfolds with tough challenges that await our beloved hero, Kirito, and his new friends. Players will unmask the Dark Knight and find out if Kirito and the crew will survive the relentless battling against the forces of the Dark Territory!
NHL 24 / This week's sports title / Friday 6 October
NHL 24 feels like hockey and brings the rush and fatigue of high-pressure games to life. The brand-new Exhaust Engine - powered by Frostbite - includes the Sustained Pressure and Goalie Fatigue systems to let players experience concentrated moments of intensity that hockey is known for.

I'll skip this week. I'm sick of the constant flow of Assassin's Creed content, just as much as I'm sick of pixel art. It was fine with Minecraft in the early days, but it's starting to be a bit too much.

It's not that bad if you zoom out. Give the demo a go.

ChaitanyaEidos had Thief series nearly 2 decades back.
It seems to me that this franchise had more of a special agent feel, and even so it had a bad end.

Btw this simulator sounds like a street thief. Which is annoying to know it exists everywhere.

Denver"Thief Simulator 2"

Seriously... what's going on lol
Next in the series: Pub Fight Simulator, Tax Evasion Simulator and Rape Simulator.

I have no idea why such topic(s) have any appeal.

Mirage might be the one. This might be the Assassin's creed to play and enjoy to levels of II and IV Black flag. This team took many years to develop this one.
I really hope it won't crash and burn...

Yeah lets hope so but after games like FC6, going to will wait for a big ol sale. That's what UBIsoft game deserve as they will try to screw you for every penny they can get. And lets face it some of the content they sell you gets removed so.

I hear ya about pixel/voxel art. It's like, cool the devs had an opportunity to make a game that looks good, but instead they decided to make a game that looks retro. Which is a choice, just not a smart one.
TheLostSwedeI bet this is your favourite game though?

Power washing doesn't generally involve criminal or antisocial behaviour.

Maybe they scout out the locations for the thieves?

Exactly. Who needs shooters to blame society's problems on when we have Thief Simulator?

Voxels can be fun if they are destructible...

I am really excited for Mirage, looking forward to some original AC nostalgia.
