This Week in Gaming (Week 50)

As we enter the second full week of December, it's pretty clear that we don't have any more AAA releases to look forward to this year, but at the same time, it doesn't mean that there aren't any interesting game releases. This week's biggest release is a colony sim type game which we covered in the news a few months ago. The rest of this week's releases involves robot detectives, gates to other worlds, prisoners that can't die, mechs and a touch of paranoia.

Pioneers of Pagonia / This week's major release / Wednesday 13 December
In a world of countless islands populated with scattered tribes, you travel and lead your people as a visionary to forge alliances with the inhabitants, after helping each other and gaining their trust. Send out your pioneers to discover untouched soil, find hidden resources and explore secret places.
Soul Tolerance: Prologue / Monday 11 December
In this Asimovian tale, discover a rich neon-noir city-scape through the eyes of a robot-detective as you investigate the inner workings of an A.I. dominated world. Speak with bots of all levels of society, from lowly robo-cleaners to the bureaucracy of The Encrypted class and even techno-spiritual monks in your search for which intelligence dared commit the crime of consciousness and break the Soul Tolerance limit.
Stargate: Timekeepers / Tuesday 13 December
Stargate: Timekeepers departs from the end of season 7 of the Stargate SG-1 main plot to create an original story, unfolding over 14 narrative-rich missions. Your adventure starts during the Battle of Antarctica, where Commander Eva McCain and her team are supporting the SG-1 against Anubis's fleet.
Dreadstone - The Immortal Prisoner / Wednesday 13 December
Dreadstone - The Immortal Prisoner is an upcoming indie 2D Metroidvania platformer. Especially important to us are the game elements "looting" and "leveling". The goal is to create a combination of our favorite games.
Custom Mech Wars / Thursday 14 December
Take customization to the extreme with the Omega Customization System and battle with one-of-a-kind combat units in this all-new third-person shooter mecha game.
Paranoid / Friday 15 December
Paranoid is a horror that tells the story of Patrick who has been living in isolation from the outside world for many years. One day he receives a phone call from his sister, who announces her visit more than a dozen years after she disappeared.

Pioneers of Pagonia reminds me of an almost forgotten classic. Does anybody know Knights and Merchants?

No idea, but that's the same company and the description of the game is the same.

CUSTOM MECH WARS looks like prime kusoge material straight from the era of PS2 shovelware. I am so in. This might be Onechanbara tier hidden gem.
