LG Ushers in 'Zero Labor Home' With Its Smart Home AI Agent at CES 2024

LG Electronics (LG) is ready to unveil its innovative smart home Artificial Intelligence (AI) agent at CES 2024. LG's smart home AI agent boasts robotic, AI and multi-modal technologies that enable it to move, learn, comprehend and engage in complex conversations. An all-around home manager and companion rolled into one, LG's smart life solution enhances users' daily lives and showcases the company's commitment to realizing its "Zero Labor Home" vision.

With its advanced 'two-legged' wheel design, LG's smart home AI agent is able to navigate the home independently. The intelligent device can verbally interact with users and express emotions through movements made possible by its articulated leg joints. Moreover, the use of multi-modal AI technology, which combines voice and image recognition along with natural language processing, enables the smart home AI agent to understand context and intentions as well as actively communicate with users.
Functioning as a 'moving' smart home hub, this AI agent connects with and controls smart home appliances and household IoT devices. Through LG's latest collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., the AI agent is equipped with the Qualcomm Robotics RB5 Platform, enabling powerful on-device AI features such as face and user recognition. The AI agent utilizes its built-in camera, speaker and various sensors to gather real-time environmental data, including temperature, humidity and indoor air quality. LG's advanced AI technologies analyze this data, continuously learning and combining it with external information. The AI agent can even act as a pet monitor and security guard, providing users with the ability to see and care for their pets remotely and sending alerts if any unusual activity is detected.

What's more, the LG smart home AI agent offers exceptional versatility and scalability. For example, it can autonomously patrol the home when no one is there, moving from one room to another and sending notifications to the user's smartphone if it finds an open window or any lights left on. Additionally, it can help conserve energy by connecting with a smart outlet and turning off unused devices throughout the house.

When the user returns home, the AI agent greets them at the front door, discerns their emotions by analyzing their voice and facial expressions, and selects music or other content to suit their mood. It also assists users in their daily lives by providing transportation details, weather updates, personal schedules or reminders to take medications.

With the smart home AI agent and its active hub features, LG aims to liberate users from the burden of housework and seeks to establish itself as a dominant player in the smart home market.

"Our groundbreaking smart home AI agent combines cutting-edge autonomous mobility and AI technologies with advanced communication capabilities and services to help free customers from household chores," said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. "A smart life solution company, LG will continue to help customers experience a smarter, more enjoyable life at home."

Visitors to CES 2024 from January 9-12 can see all of the LG's latest smart life solutions, including the smart home AI agent, at the company's booth (#16008, Las Vegas Convention Center).

I would call that more of a reference, than a joke.

Let's see if I understood it correctly. "Zero Labor Home." He takes the broom and the dustpan, the mop, puts the dishwasher on and then picks it up, does the laundry, hangs and folds the clothes, puts them in the drawers, picks up my cat's excrement and changes her litter, makes the bed, He has prepared a sumptuous dinner for me, etc... "Zero Labor Home" I'M TWENTY, or thirty, because I have family and friends; ) "Zero Labor Home" If it comes to that, I don't doubt that the machines will rebel because my cat's poop smells terrible. Greetings from the Kingdom of Spain "Zero Labor Home" and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Even if that was attainable, don't give my lazy ass ideas. I'm fat enough as it is and the urge to do nothing is not as strong as the urge to kill this thing.

Remember, many people (and all prospective buyers of this multi-moodal whateverbot) replaced hardware switches with apps long time ago. So yes, it is.

I hope it won't have the keys (digital I assume) for the front door. I can see how that may go wrong.

People are fucking dumb about this shit.

Our two TVs (SONY and LG 4k OLEDs respectively) are "smart" devices that the little lady constantly screams instructions at, along with our Amazon Alexa(s) and "robot" cat litter box.

None of this shit actually works. Especially the robot cat shit box. It's vastly faster and less prone to fuckups to manually punch in what you want to watch on the smart TV. And that's not even touching that the audio and video is vastly better from a dedicated BR player. The Alexas are now dead set on firing off all sorts of alerts and crap that the SO thought would be nice but they will not stop fucking doing it. You can't yell at them to do it, turning it off in the app usually doesn't work, so it's just a giant PITA. The cat hates the robot shitter with the fury of a thousand suns and it's not that hard to haul out the bag of cat shit once a week.

The fancy ass smart speakers sound like utter shit compared to the multiple thousands of dollars stack of dacs, amps, turntables, tape decks, CD players, home audio streamers we have sitting in the living room! But I can't yell at them to make them turn on! I can yell at Alexa and it will play music but that five figures pair of focal speakers will not do that.

She's got an apple watch with all the bells and whistles and wanted to get me one. No, I don't need that. I have a perfectly good Rolex for work and I have a perfectly good GSCHOCK for not at work.

None of all this new crap does what it claims it does. It outright fails at that. It's also vastly worse than all the other crap we had before which actually did what it said on the box! But you can yell at the new shit! You could put a record onto the system and listen to glorious music off a good system while you cook or you could shout at the Alexa and cycle the cat in it's own shit while the Alexa turns on k-pop.

If you happen to say "Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto", you''ll unlock Kilroy mode.

You've been warned.

They say "zero labor" but they really mean "zero privacy". Put cameras and microphones in everything, sprinkle some "AI" building consumer profiles of every family member and you get a picture perfect "XXI century obedient consumer family".
