"Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2" Gameplay Explored in Extended Preview

Good evening Kindred, in our recent Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 stream, we shared exciting news about the game and our first extended gameplay trailer. On the stream, The Chinese Room (TCR) Community Manager Josh Matthews was joined by Alex Skidmore, Project Creative Director at TCR, who shared insights on the game, the narrative background, and how the game plays. If you missed the stream, you can check it out below. The gameplay stream contains several spoilers, and if you wish to avoid them, there are sections marked in the video timeline, or you can watch the trailer version of the gameplay video, which does not contain any major spoilers.

Matthews and Skidmore highlight an early-game mission, discussing why the player character, Phyre, infiltrates an abandoned warehouse to uncover clues about the mysterious mark on their hand. Players must choose their actions wisely, whether confronting the court's secret keeper like Willem or meeting unruly ghouls and illusions that cloud the environment. Acting as "The Sheriff" of the Court, Phyre's choices impact how the world perceives them and bring them closer to uncovering Seattle's secrets.
The long-awaited Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 extended gameplay reveal!:

Join us in Seattle in this gameplay trailer!:

Each clan has its own playstyle and Disciplines, creating different ways to explore. Whether it's the Brujah's brute force, Banu Haqim's cloak-and-dagger approach, Ventrue's cutthroat manipulation, or Tremere's blood magic, players have a wide range of options. Details on each clan's respective Disciplines will be available this year.

"The gameplay and action of Bloodlines 2 is a sort of dance. As players explore the world, soak in the atmosphere, and make strategic choices, they affect their relationships with the characters around them," explained Alex Skidmore, Creative Director at The Chinese Room. "Players can choose their legend, but the world is dynamic, and characters will remember how you treat them. Think carefully, and trust no one."

Kindred Key Features Include:
  • Feeding for Power: Feeding is a critical element of strengthening Phyre's abilities and reflects the nature of the clan selected.
  • Telekinesis: Distract enemies by lifting and throwing objects or pulling foes closer to deliver the final punch.
  • Heightened Senses: See things others can't see or hear. Focus from great distances and see what mere humans would miss in each mission and puzzle.
  • Fabien's Judgement: While all major characters in Seattle build opinions of Phyre based on their interactions with the world, Fabien sees and hears all.

I have to agree with youtube commenters for once: this looks nothing like a sequel to og bloodlines. Everything is off gameplay and feature-wise. Doesn't even look grimy or goth.
And that moment when the player throws something to distract a ghoul and then makes a noise twice as loud when jumping behind the ghouls back that the ghoul promptly ignores - hahaha. If your stealth is that bad maybe just drop it altogether and make a straight action game, damn.

Yeah this has about none of my interest right now... Im seeing a lot of text about features we have seen before and are in no way unique. Thats fine... but where are the immersive qualities?

I think this is desperately trying to be a modern style Hollywood inspired netflix original, to attach a new generation of gamers and being a soulless husk as a result. We have seen too many of them already, just no.

Also dat framerate/stuttery mess in gameplay. Eek

A bit sad, let's just say that this is just a "complete" different game that what bloodlines 1 was.. there isn't enough "clear" dialogue like in the first game.. I guess that's what pisses me off the most.. that and that it's not like it was promised by HARD SUIT LABS.. *sad vampire noises

I hope they keep the RT on the game...

I played the OG long enough ago that I barely remember bits and pieces so I dont have much to compare to. This still looks like a "nice" game to try out.

This game will never come out. How many time has it been shown off and a release date set? Zero reason to get hyped over this now.

I never played the first one, but looking at it, part 2 looks just like it imo, just a newer update to date game. Is the E3 footage from 4 years ago, the same?
