Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition Out Now on PC

Hi everyone, we're thrilled for our PC community to join Aloy on her journey as she braves the Forbidden West—a majestic but dangerous frontier that conceals mysterious new threats. That's right, Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition has launched on PC. Horizon Forbidden West continues six months after the events of the critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn. Vicious superstorms rage. The land is dying. Machine hunter Aloy has traveled west to investigate the source of a mysterious blight that ravages the remnants of humanity. In these uncharted lands, she will meet strange new tribes and face ever more deadly colossal machines. Together with old friends and new companions, she must brave this awe-inspiring frontier to find the answers she needs, halt the biosphere's imminent collapse, and save life on Earth.

Unlocked frame rates, ultra-wide support up to 48:9 resolutions and performance-enhancing technologies including NVIDIA DLSS 3 AI-powered upscaling and frame generation allow PC players to experience Aloy's journey in its full glory on compatible hardware. NVIDIA DLAA is available to help maximize image quality. The game also comes with NVIDIA Reflex, reducing system latency and improving gameplay responsiveness. Intel XeSS and AMD FSR 2.2 upscaling is also supported. The team at Nixxes is working on an update to add AMD FSR 3 with frame generation.
To ensure the game runs on a wide variety of PC hardware, we've included graphics presets ranging from very low to very high. This allows gamers with the latest hardware to push their systems, while also providing a great experience on less powerful PCs. Additionally, the PC release offers customizable settings, allowing you to tailor your gaming experience according to your preferences!

On behalf of everyone at Guerrilla and Nixxes, we are so excited to bring Horizon Forbidden West to PC and we hope you enjoy this new adventure with Aloy! We would love to hear what you think and see your amazing virtual photography, so please use the hashtag #HorizonForbiddenWestPC when sharing your experiences and creations and tag us on social media!

Gotta love that last image, 10/10 for Sony shill-outlet as feature on a PS-approved slide...

But I enjoyed HZD, so am hoping HFW will be as good and that where will be a mod in short order to use Aloys face from HZD.

There will be a mod out to fix that no doubt.

..... how many ppl even would want to run a game at that except for niche people that play racing sim's?

I don't understand the fuss around Aloy's face. Was there such outrage when Geralt's face changed dramatically from Witcher I to Witcher 2 and then again in Witcher 3? I am also looking forward to the review by @W1zzard.

I guess for someone people they want their female in game characters to be attractive.

If you watch the new Xmen animated series people were also complaining about how they changed rogue's appearance I guess to each his own. Not really a hugh deal for me personally.

I get that, but we have had unattractive male characters so why not have ordinary looking females as well. Let's not forget that in the USA, women are estimated to be close to 50 percent of the PC gaming user base. They are also estimated to be over 40% of the PS5 customer base.

I got the game, enjoying it so far. Seems like a large world to explore. As for Aloy's face? IDGA(flying)F. It's a computer game and it's still recognisably the same character. Voice acting is spot-on. Way better than a lot of cardboard acting in games.

Any game I am into I like to see Complete Edition to justify a purchase.

Any notable bugs?

I'm on the fence atm. I normally don't pay full price for games (waited 2 full years for HZD PC to drop to half price), but I liked HZD enough to make this one an exception. On the other hand, I'd rather buy on GoG but that means waiting (if ever). Waiting isn't bad though, if there's a lot of launch bugs that need fixing...

It's actually refreshing to see a female character that isn't unnaturally beautiful with huge boobs. Leave that crap to the misogynists on wccftech who were all going ape shit over her looks like retarded 3 year olds.

Sweet. Hope Demons Souls Remake is next, likely followed by hell freezing over and then a Bloodborne Remaster.

For what it's worth, Nixxes don't miss. I was impressed by them back in Tomb Raider/Deus Ex Human Revolution days and while I was on the fence when Sony bought them, I couldn't be happier with how they're being used.

Their record speaks for itself, and they've spent literally decades making it. You can buy without regret.

HZD is 75% off on GOG right now, which means either working with GOG is Nixxes decision or Sony is allowing it.

Since you're already comfortable with waiting, you can probably rest easy since it would be weird for HZD to be on GOG but not HFW.

HZD came to GOG a few months after hitting Epic and Steam so yeah there's a little more waiting for those of us who like to own instead of rent.

I've not seen any bugs, but I'm only a couple of hours in. The game's been out long enough on PSP so there shouldn't be any 'gameplay' bugs.

No bugs so far, the game is so beautiful and runs very well on my setup.

It's mostly because her face looks like it would better fit someone 20kg heavier than her. The fat face just does not look right on the body, though that's a non issue on PC, I bet there will be a mod just like there was for the first game.

While the game is beautiful and runs smoothly it does not run "very well", IMO. Which is crazy because it really feels polished until you break out the tools to get frame time data and the sort.

Of the bugs perhaps the one that's of the absolute highest importance is that the GPU usage figures are hilariously low and frame rates above 60 are... shaky at best. I can barely crack 100 fps even if I enable DRS or DLSS frame generation, but here's the deal: my CPU is essentially idle and my GPU's at 35%, pulling 100 W. Dropping from 4K/120 @ Very High to practically anything else has very little effect on the experience.

I've heard similar stories of RTX 4090 owners, but catch this: I have a 4080. Which clearly shows that the game is not using all of our hardware resources adequately.

Also picked it up on Steam, so far I like it and its a very pretty game that runs fairly well even on my budget-ish system. :) 'High Textures/medium shadows/high level of detail and rest maxed with DLSS Quality and that way its like locked to my monitor's 75 Hz refresh/my 73 fps cap and no real stutters to speak of'
I don't mind Aloy's face or her look in general so thats a non issue for me.

I'm not seeing any issues at a locked 72fps. Seems smooth to me?

I've played this game on PS5 and I think it looks really great even without performance tanking technology like RT. Likewise, no RT bloat on Baldur' Gate 3 and still a fun game. Other game developers should take note.

I would prefer to start buying my games on gog also.

Did the game require any always-online B$ or undeclared requirements to launhc and play the game..?
b1k3rdudethat where will be a mod in short order to use Aloys face from HZD.
My issue was if HFW was set many years after HZD (instead of 6months after the fact), that would explain why Aloy looks older. The change (without going down the P.C. rabbit hole) seems poorly thought out at best.

I'm curious how this game will do on my current system. It handles HZD perfectly fine at 1440p, but that was a last-gen title. Is there a benchmark in this one too? If so, do you all mind posting some results?

Thanks for the arrival date clarity but also *shrug* sounds like the cost of doing ownership business.

Since most are willing to pay that cost - as well as buy things twice or three times - I don't mind this stratification in the industry. High speed for renters and and slow speed for owners. More choices on a menu are always welcome.
